Excelent video for servers 😮❤🏓 thanks 👍
Yes please the returns
Great video. Can we also look at how to return each best
The magnificent 7....I would say!!!!! The best coaching on serves by an amazing coach. Many, many thanks for this, Tom!!!!
The best video on serves...very well produced..covering all aspects of each serve...do not have to look further to get mastery on basic TT serves
Another outstanding video Tom! Thank you for doing this for us!
Thanks for this , Keep Updating ! Lots of support to you 🎉
Love this video, thank you so much Tom and Ferenc. Time to up my game! 🏓🏓
Thanks for this great tutorial. I'll put in practice during my training session to improve my serves. 😊
Thanks for your step to step teaching. Very nice serve.
Very helpfull in slow motion ! Thank you !
Wow 🤩…another amazing service video !!! Thanks you ❤
thank you for clear demonstration and explanations. If only I can do it as efficiently.
Tom your videos really help learning the Game. Thank you
Excellent video. Thank you very much for sharing it. I need to work on all of these services. Good job!
Thanks for this very helpful serving tutorial from Ferenc! The Tomahawk and Backhand serve seem like the most advanced ones.
As a medium level player I can do the tomahawk very well, alternating backspin, sidespin, and topspin, but I absolutely can't do the reverse pendulum. That's the most advanced serve. The backhand serve is also actually quite easy, but I find it useless because the spin and control tends to be much more with forehand
Absolutely fantastic video. Look forward to rolling this one out to all the students at Danbury.
Very thorough/clear demonstration to enhance understanding body/wrist/hand motions for each serve effect. However, a lot of peiple don't explore/learn how rubbers/blades (or different combinations of them which is the most intriguing part) can vary ball spin/speed. Equipment plays a very vital part for the game, on top of basic skills/knowledge. Table tennis is a very complicated/serious game (to play properly), vastly different from what people see it as Ping Pong. Now waiting for you to illustrate how to counter your magnificinet seven serves. Picked up some good points here, thanks and congratsl
Thanks for sharing this video 🙏🏽🙏🏽👍🏼
Tom your vedios help me in my competitions thanks alot may God bless
Very helpful, tnx!😊
I've been working on these serves in the VR game Eleven Table Tennis. They are brutally hard at my level of play but super rewarding to pull off. That said, I give away MATCHES worth of points messing them up, but have made a few people rage quit. I don't quite have the pepper on the ball that Ferenc manages to put on it, but I'm still concentrating on just getting a bounce on my side and on the other. My favorite was a reverse pendulum that looked like it was going to bounce off on their side but curved enough to graze the table. I've had a few opponents just sit there and watch the serves without even moving.
Next video: how to return these serves because Tom didn't read the spin at all :D
I thought the same
I felt it's a bit scripted to miss the serve... to create a dramatic effect 😂
Looks like it worked. Good video ❤.
But a video on how to return will be very helpful... @tomloziak
Are my acting skills that bad?
@@TomLodziak no no... have seen you take these serves with ease!
Perfect Video again!
Hi. interesting presentation.Thank you, guys. However maybe now there should be a follow up with explanation about produced with each serve spin and how to control intensity of this spin. Maybe a bit more advanced stuff, but it would show the tactical ideas behind each type of the serve.
Amazing table tennis serves.. very effective
Veliko hvala na opisu servisa žlveo sto godina
Excellent in demonstration and simplicity in language. Is it possible in some future video to correlate each of these Services to the top players who have perfected these Services and used them in Tournaments AND what were the opponents returns to counter such Services(in slow motion).
Thanks & Regards.
Most excellent.
Total agree, magnificent! Thank you!
Well done lesson, clear English and hello from UA
love it..thanks
Please explain what type and amount of spin they have. For example, First 2 have topspins?
Great video, what kind of paddle are you using
great video
Super!
Mantap tutorialnya 👍🙏
Very good serves
Mantaab.. Trimakasih👍🏻👀
reserve pendulum my favorite from these all serves 😎
Thanks!
Thank you! Hope you video has been useful for your game.
I like trying all these variations. Find the one my opponent hates and use that most often. If they get all these back, hit them with the lollipop😂
Nice content )
Nice video :-)
what is that octoganal racket? ive never seen that before. But overall thank you for the amazing serving tips, love the channel, keep up the amazing work.
It's the Stiga Cybershape (I assume carbon) blade. It's just a newer blade that has been out for about 2 years and that has allegedly some benefits due to its different weight distribution created by the shape
@@jeffvango6754 They do a wooden one as well, that's the one I would go for.
Can I play a shot/return from the side of the table? Pls confiem
Great video tutorial, very helpful indeed are the slo mo's. It shows exactly in which height you have to hit the ball and how far from the net (on your side) it should be placed.
One remark: Unfortunately (and according to the international rules), the left arm is supposed to be completely left out in the space between ball and net I think. So the referee might call this as a point against you (after warning). Am I right?
Did you know that your videos help me a lot? Thank you very much❤😊
The overview is greatly appreciated. However, the serves are illegal.
1. The serves are hidden by either his arm or his body or both.
2. His left hand goes below the table during the serve.
3. The serves are not tossed from the palm of his hand.
Again, the information is appreciated. I would just like to see coaches adhering to the rules also. Many times people are so focused on winning. As a result, the rules become secondary which in turn can lead to the breakdown of sportsmanship. Have you ever called out someone on their serves? Man, that can quickly become a heated situation...
Very interesting, thank you ! On the other hand, the opponent who always misses the return of serve on purpose is a bit silly 🙂
good tutorial, but what about the grip? having a serve grip adds so much more spin on these serves
Great
Том, привет! Что-то давно тебя не было видно
Do you have to serve with a first bounce on your side? I recall when I played years ago, I would serve with a bounce on my side and a hit over to the other side.
You will if I'm umpiring - we've been told to clamp down on it.
I usually use last two serves
Don't put the ball on your fingers when serving instead put the ball on the center of the hand😂😂
👍
Is illegal use fingers in a serve
and what about the other arm ?
It appears that you don’t toss the ball in the air straight, but it curves toward you. Is that just the camera angle.
The ball falling slightly towards you is accepted if it's not too much. From what i understand you should not throw it front to back (away from the table).
Is octagon table tennis bat legal?
Yes, it has been used in international play for a couple of years now. It's a STIGA Cybershape blade.
@@TomLodziak Thanks for the answer. I wonder if there is any significant advantage of octagonal bats or when, or is it just display?
@@berryesseen I know some players who really love the blade. I find it a little heavy to use. It hasn't taken over in pro table tennis, so I suspect there isn't any significant advantage.
the best serve is the one you make up on your own so that most opponents dont know it
Thanks to Tom Lodzik and Ferenc Horvath for the 7 different serves with explanations.
Thanks for the video. I’m bad now but I want to be the best I can and win some prizes if possible :)
He's also got a bat with redicous rubber
Is he serving on his palm?
Good luck
As u said top spin for all… so how this will work back spin ghost serve… trying but not working
Tomahawk serves always screw me up... can never guess if top or back spin is coming...
Dear friend i m from srilanka ,can you get me two racket offf high spin and speed
czy jak w tenisie stołowym nie trafie w połowe przyciwnika a on odbije paletką i nie trafi to dla kogo jest punkt
ERIKSEN
Shame every serve is a fault. Ball held with thumb in cupped hand, not in flat palm. ;)
Please add Turkish subtitles to your videos
The server is serving illegally in many instances - not from the flat of the hand.
Literally nobody cares you are never going to get called on that
@@8Photoman_unfortunately that's the attitude which creates nightmares for players first entering International matches when the ITTF service rules are enforced and many players are defaulted....... teach the correct service rule requirements early until its automated, otherwise players should just register for Ping Ping events instead of Table Tennis😂😂
@@8Photoman_my group and friends and I are all casuals and call each other out on it, lol. That said, I don't think it made a difference for the purpose of this video. I don't see him manipulating the ball with his fingers. It was probably for ease of demonstration
There are not effective serves. There are service return errors. If oponent is focused will return all. I didn't care about spin more focus on the speed. Faster serves return slower. Slower serves return faster.
Toss is against the rules
Hmm he serves with ball on fingers, needs to be in palm
Please translate to polish language :)
#TomLodziak All of the pendulum serves are illegal. Why? Because the rules clearly state that the free arm must be removed immediately from the space between the ball and the net as soon as the ball is projected upwards and Ferenc is clearly not doing that. And yes, I am a qualified umpire, so please don't teach people illegal serves.
Also holding the ball with thumb and fingers in cupped hand. It couldn't be more wrong. Pause 4m.03 for the best view.
So that’s an interesting point. The rule you refer to is this one…
2.6.5 - “As soon as the ball has been projected, the server’s free arm and hand shall be removed from the space between the ball and the net.”
This rule was presumably put in place to prevent players from covering the contact of the ball (also addressed in rule 2.6.4). However for some service actions, particularly the pendulum serve, it’s physically quite difficult to move your free arm out of the way as soon as the ball is projected. So most people serve exactly the same as Ferenc. You toss the ball up, bring the free arm back down and then the arm moves out of the way as you rotate into the serve. Maybe Ferenc could move his free arm away a little sooner, but in reality, it’s unlikely ever to be called by an umpire. The ball is visible at all times, so he is gaining no advantage whatsoever. Ferenc has played a lot of competitive matches over the years with qualified umpires and never been called for violating this rule.
@@TomLodziakI think your reply has some credibilty Tom but for sure Ferenc could move his free arm away much quicker.
Depending where the receiver is placed, there are positions where they couldn't see the ball during Ferenc's serve.
Unfortunately umpires are not consistent enforcing this rule and I wish the ITTF would either amend the rule or take steps to enforce it consistently.
If I were umpiring a match where a player was serving in such a fashion I would warn them and then penslise them if it continued.
One of the service rules is that the server had the responsibility to serve in such a way to make it clear to the umpire that he/she is serving legally i.e. it cannot be on the borderline of legal versus illegal.
Apart from the legality of Ferenc's serve, the serves he demonstrates are useful for the watcher.
Your receuves are very nahive, Tom. Come on, you should try to do it more realistic.
you lack the basic to throw up the ball, they're illegal 😢😢😢😢
I stopped watching because already the first serves were illegal. You have to remove the tossing arm from the space between ball and a virtual net plane. I know these are commonly used, but it doesn't belong in a tutorial how to serve.
For us beginners, can you elaborate so I know what not to do?
At 0:33 for instance you can see it and it's throughout the video: the throwing arm is not removed correctly from the space between ball and the net plane as defined and required in the ITTF service rules. If you're interested - it's ITTF rule 6.5. The arm is removed really late just before ball contact (so the serve is just above the tossing arm) and not directly after tossing as required.
Also, some ball tosses seem to be or almost be hidden by the head for a virtual receiver's position
I realized in a discussion in another channel, that this kind of feedback is not wanted, even not in a serve tutorial, where - in my opinion - you can expect explanations for a correct serve. Usually the main argument being, that everybody, including pros, serves that way, which is no criterion for the correctness.
throws ball from his fingers, not from the palm of his hand... clean service action??
Throws it backwards too, close to shielding on some of them.
Good luck
