At least as of now (and unlike in other British Overseas Territories), any UK citizen has a right to live in Gibraltar and stay however long they want, whether Spain likes that or not. And those decisions are Gibraltar's alone.

The 180 day rule does not apply to U.K. citizens living in Gibraltar. It states on the gov.gi website: “citizens of Gibraltar and British citizens are allowed to live in Gibraltar without any type of residence permit” such a shame you didn’t do your research.

Hey, don't belive everything you see on the sites, they don't update info very often or there is no full information with specific details! You can come to Gib and live without residence permit, but if you earn money, you have to pay tax, well again, depends on how you earn it... and you can't use social healthcare...

For the bit at the end. Almost certainly if you show up you can find a job of some kind. But much harder to quickly find a job and comfortably pay rent and live in Gibraltar.

    Janna hi!
Thanks for you and Paul making this useful video.
To confirm my understanding under self sufficiency rules for transferring NHS rights to the GHA. A “pensioner” or “pension” is defined as being in receipt of a Uk state pension. It is NOT being in receipt of a private pension which can be taken from the age of 55.
Also the job route I’m still confused what happens if you come, look for a job and can’t find one suitable with a period of time. What is that period of time? Is it you must apply for residency within 183 days of arriving and hope you get lucky, or must you leave and return to the Uk?
I understand Paul’s confidence there’s plenty of jobs in Gib, so finding one is easy when you arrive, or find one first then come to Gib. Thing is Gib is a small place with a limited job market I suspect. I imagine unless you are already in the gaming or finance industries it won’t be so easy. For sure applying for anything that isn’t a senior or specific skilled role before coming to Gib I can’t see most employers taking you seriously, especially if you have a family due to the cost and difficulty of finding something suitable to rent. It makes much more sense to them to interview and hire somebody already there in rented accommodation. This is especially true if your looking for a job in a shop, bar restaurant, etc. then you are in competition with the locals who thanks to Med culture will almost always be given preference to anyone arriving from outside the community.
    Thoughts?

Thank you Janna... wow im so happy to be retired with the full oppotunity to relocate to Gibraltar.... Just a pity that a younger person cant cheat the system and fake retirement at an earlier age with his family.. Still he could register as self employed pay tax there and live happily thereafter... For me despite living all my life in UK it took me a long time (2 years ) simply to proove who i was to GOV.UK and then claim carers allowance and later pension... (its called the long hand of the law)... Kevin...
