I really don't like all that stuff hidden behind walls, I don't care if the pipes are exposed because it would be much easier for repairs.😊 Easy thing for you is you can go out into that water shutoff outside, but here we have to call the city or we will be fined if we touch that shutoff water box outside!!!!😏😒😄
If you are lucky, you can just replace the valves in the existing box. Turned out the old screw valves had the same base threads as the ball valves. I did that to mine and it worked perfectly.
Is there no need to attach the box to one of the studs? I am getting ready to do this exact replacement (except mine is the push to connect valves) and it didn't even occur to me that I need to do the box flip like you did, as my drain is in the middle. So glad I watched this first! Thanks for a clear, easy to follow instruction!
Yes, you definitely want to attach it to either an existing stud or you can add what’s called a (sister stud) which is just simply attaching some 2x4 blocks to existing stud to reach desired location. Glad you found this useful!
The replacement box that I got already has the sharkbite couplers on the valves and I can’t get them off to switch sides (I also have the single center drain.) very frustrating.
@@SheilaSpencer1 Hi and thanks for the info. Times have changed. When I worked for a city, we were the only ones that could get a '" Buffalo Box " key to shut off water on the outside of a home. Things have changed I see. Homes in my area have a water shutoff valve in the house so there is no need to shut off outside.

You should. I think in this example, he’s relying on the glued drain pipe for support. I could be wrong, the video is edited.

They make Poly to Pex Couplings you can crimp to join both lines, you shouldn't never put Sharkbites in the wall... Apprentice Mistake

Don't some houses have a main shut off that's a water valve instead of the curb key? Or is the curb key always the preferred method?
My home has a water shutoff in the house. No need to shut off by the curb.
I don't even have a curb key, just 2 main shut-offs in the house: one for hot and one cold.
The only ones who have a curb key is the city.

Push to connect fittings are not a smart thing to use when a cinch clamp tool is 30 buks and a much better connection .
Does anyone know what size cap goes on the fitting to cap it off? Where the plastic horse would connect

Sharkbites are crap and should never be behind a wall. A professional wouldn’t use them at all.
