David that was a good review of the Honda XR150L. I currently own this motorcycle and use it as my daily ride in Mexico. The bike is bulletproof, reliable, very economical on gas and it is decent in an off road environment. Is it comparable to a KTM 500 EXE? Of course not but the bike once outfitted with a set of wrap around handlebar protectors, better skid plate and a decent set of tires like Dunlop 606 - then it will eagerly play in the dirt environment. This bike is an amazing bike, it does not match my Ducati Panigale for speed but the Honda XR150L always puts a smile on my face when I ride it. Regarding the sand you were riding in, deep and loose would have challenged any bike, the tires on your test bike were as much a problem as was a lack of horsepower at times. A proper test and very entertaining. I think the tyres might have a lot to do with the limitations in soft sand. My 300 was getting absolutely nowhere with the stock tyres making me question if I made a serious mistake 😂. A good set of tyres on and it just flys over the sand. I think it would a similar result with this bike
Back to watch this again. I bought a lovely old style Kawa 250, but realize I can have more fun, and explore tons of dirt roads in N. Cal with a bike like this.. that I would trash a street bike.. big or small. As street riding gets more and more dangerous, and long distance travel more demanding and expensive... this makes a lot more sense. And I can still pick it up !
This is a farm bike, it can do most of the things any motorbike can do wether off-road or on tarmac. Simply, it has limited power and cannot achieve same performance as big bikes. I use it in Philippines for short trips on all terrains and it is better than what it looks on paper as it is very nimble and stable. Even a difficult single track can be achieved as long as you don't expect it to show power. The stock tires are not that bad as they are decent everywhere even in light mud. This is a perfect bike to do long rides in Asia whatever it is as long as you are not in a hurry. I wouldn't mind to use in Himalaya thanks to the rock solid honda built. The advantage is the fact it is simple and there are very few things which can go wrong. This is an economy bike which means no gas indicator, no gear light, no abs, only 5 speeds, antiquated carburetor, dent shock absorbers but really good to go nearly everywhere. I have been laughing at adventure bikes and even offroad with it on gnarly mountain ruts, this shows how good it is. Still, for long rides i have a Versys which is far better on tarmac thanks to the power but, when i am on a trail, i prefer XR.

Hello Jonathan. Thanks for watching and subscribing to my channel. I am hoping to make even more exciting videos in the near future. Hopefully, without painful crashes 😅
Thanks for the video and proper off-road thrashing! We shoud be receiving these bikes in the USA in the next couple of months (around April 2023), and I'm looking forward to adding one to my stable. This bike is for youngsters who have never been on a bike and is starting to ride. The feeble responses from some is for people who cannot think for themselves. It would have been a boring video if he took it on easy terrain. I thoroughly enjoyed him taking it on the sand and off course when he ate some as well 😂. He could have taken it on the grass next to the sand bit and it would have been a better ride, but he chose the sand and it felt sometimes I wanted to take over as his lines was not right but I enjoyed it thoroughly. Well done my man, you have riden where I have years ago taken kx480, cr480, xr500 and rm250. For some orr other reason I have not had experiences with yamahas. Cannot wait for your next video. 👍🏻
Thank you David. I am always looking at small motorcycles that would be suitable for round the world riding.. even though I am too old for that now. This one seems to have most of the wanted "stuff". Reliabilty, and cheap parts, and fuel economy seem to be there. I suppose places with really long distances to ride.. like australia a lack of speed might be an issue. So that might make us want a 250... that can hit 70 and cruise effortlessly at 55. but for anyplace that wants the 7"inches of suspension travel.. this is the tits.
Thanks for watching and for your comment. Wow.. I would think that around the world trip with the Honda XR 150L would probably be possible, but not very comfortable. I would imagine that the Honda CRF 250 or the 300 series would be great for the job. There is an excellent CZcams channel called IItchy Boots you can checkout. The Honda CRF 300 Rally is doing a great job in the tough terrain of South America and currently in Morocco.

I’ve rode mine here in the Philippines for over a year and I must say mine does not hold up well off-road, the front fork seals need repair almost constant and the overall suspension is weak, the chain tensioner needs adjustment every couple weeks among other things I would say it’s a road bike not a good off road bike 👍😁
Hi Pepe Juan. I agree that the suspension is on the soft side. I didn't ride this motorcycle exclusively off-road, and I didn't have to replace fork seals as yet, but I will look out for that. Thanks for your comment 👍
Great video! I just sold my BMWF750, just too big and heavy, I've been riding a DRZ400 for about 11 years and will keep it for long highway rides & on-off road as it will cruise 70-75 with ease but thinking I might want this for a 2nd bike, little lighter, trying to improve my dirt skills and my husband likes to ride my DRZ as well. Up here in Yosemite, we have a lot of hard-packed rocky dirt with ruts. There are several other lighter dirt bikes but I want a street-legal bike. If I didn't have the DRZ, I would probably go with the new lower CRF300LS. That deep sand got me on my DRZ, I broke a rib last year, now I just take the Polaris RZR LOL! I wonder about that rear brake though on the XR150? People complain about stopping power, I usually downshift and use compression but I live in the land of narly paved curved roads, there are no straight roads. Moto heaven! So, thoughts on brakes?
Hi Yosemite, thanks for watching and for your comment. The front disk brake on the Honda xr150l is sufficient, in my opinion. There is no ABS, and the rear drum brake also does a good job. In terms of breaking power on the rear brake, you can fairly easily lock the wheel, which is an indication of sufficient braking action. Engine braking is good as well, but it could be slightly tricky as there is no slipper clutch, and therefore, if you drop to a too low gear, it will cause a tire skid. I hope that I have managed to answer your question. There is a huge difference in power between the BMWF750 to the Honda XR 150L, and yes, the Honda will induce confidence in the off-road due to its light weight. I would recommend booking a test ride with the dealership.
@David Logasi thank you so much for the info. Yes, I will test at dealership! No doubt big difference from BMW, that's OK, I'm in a happy place with power on DRZ, I know XR will even be less, we shall see if it's for me or not.

Of course it will struggle on loose sand.......farmers like these bikes here in Australia as they are tough and reliable and used mainly on hard packed dirt and cattle stations.
Should still be cheaper than a new Grom or Monkey according to the under $3000 MSRP. I think this would be a much better, more usable bike than one of those for most people. Would make a great lightweight bike to throw on a hitch carrier and use for a campground/vacation runaround and exploring the local area bike!
Let's hope not! I plan to snag one or two of these sometime in 2023. I'm in Texas, and I'll drive out of state to AR, MO, or TN to buy at dealers that don't mark-up their prices with ridiculous fees. Honda of the Ozarks in Springfield, MO, and Southern Powersports in Chattanooga, TN usually sell at MSRP with zero dealer fees. 😉👍 --QM
These bikes are not made for drag racing or motto cross racing. Its made to have fun on trail riding. Thats it. Not enough power then just simply buy a bigger bike
Thanks for watching, Sergiio. If I manage to find the XL 200 from the late 90s or the XR from early 2000, I will be happy to review it and compare the older with the new. Somehow, I get the feeling that it might be the same technology 🤔
@@davidlogasi1835 Thanks, we also got the carburated one. I hope Honda would sell us the fuel injection next year. I am turned off by the higher models because they don't have a flat metal carrier at the back to carry my things.
Hi Max. It will be easier to start off-road on a light motorcycle as the dynamic is the same on all motorcycles, in my opinion , with the exception of the weight that makes things much harder. I made a video that demonstrates just that.
I assume that adding additional teeth to the rear sprocket will give the motorcycle more power as per the 'granny gear' on a bicycle with a penalty of reduced top speed 🤔. It's a trade-off, but if you are riding exclusively off-road, it could be beneficial. I would imagine ..
I agree with you 100 percent! I took this motorcycle to the deep sand for two reasons: The first reason is to make this video ( :) of course), and the second reason was to practice in an unstable environment on a low-cost motorcycle. I believe that it is important to practice riding on sand in a controlled environment, so if you happen to see it on the road, you will have an understanding of what the motorcycle will do while going over it and how to recover and not crash.
I agree with you as well. The motorcycle on the review is a 2015 model that I bought for less than 800 USD, so I think that for the price, it's doing pretty well.
I don't know, my dealer got an alotment of 3 and 2 are presold as of a week ago. My wife if 5'4" and though she can ride her 400 ninja she feels way out of her comfort zone on my 250l. I think many shorter people who want to try some lighter off road riding will give it a go. I'm glad there is going to be something shorter and gravel road ready and street legal for her to join me in my adventures!
@geraldburmeister9637 Hi Gerald, I think that it can be a good idea to book your wife a test drive with the dealer. I also tried to introduce my wife initially to the BMW G650GS, which was not the best idea as she felt intimidated by its weight. When I introduced the Honda XR 150L, she was happy to ride it.
It was struggling at low speed at the deep sand. Possibly due to my riding technique and not so great tyres for this type of terrain, but once you gain some momentum, it goes pretty well.
@QuasiMotard As some would say, there's no bad publicity. I am happy for people to comment whether it is positive or not. If you took the time to listen to my annoying accent , your comment is accepted 😀. Many thanks for watching and for your compliment. 😊
If it looks good, that's my wife's jacket. If it looks wild, it's probably the jacket that I inherited.. Otherwise, it's what I found in the cupboard.. 🤣
Thank you for watching and commenting. I was riding this motorcycle this morning and was wondering if it could do some long-distance, similarly to what Itchi Boots is doing, but in a smaller scale and slower. I think it is possible on the XR 150L. I don't think that a scooter can do off-road. The Honda XR 150L has a manual gearbox, which is also perfect for learners . It is a compromise when you purchase such a motorcycle, off course, and the way it looks isn't to everyone's taste, but for the price, it does pretty well.

@@johnberry2877 yeah and Gabe from Torture test magazine came in second place at The Glen Helen 24 hour Endurance Race with a Dr200. He could take first Easily but he fell a sleep in the pitstop.
Its Amazing what can be done and most cookiecutters drive bikes way above their skill.
I love this guy 😎
Of course it will struggle on loose sand.......farmers like these bikes here in Australia as they are tough and reliable and used mainly on hard packed dirt and cattle stations.
That intro ❤❤❤
Should have been an XR 200 like the old school bike. The 200 of old was a nice machine to play with.
Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires would be my first "upgrade."
Nice ride bro. And subscribed done too👍
All the offroad vids ive seen is people on gravel roads thx for showing its true colors lol looks bad off road 😮
“Just need a robust rider” 🤣🤣🤣
Very nice,thank you.
Thanks for the compliment.
Impressively tough little bird!
Here in the US, the dealers markup will kill its sales!
😉👍 --QM
I was thinking to get the GROM but this is less money can be Ridin on the highway and a little more speed and it's a larger machine
Yan ang post, walang daya. Makatotohanan. Hinahangaan kita Bai. Salamat sa pagbabahagi ng video.
Thanks for watching and ant your comment is appreciated .
I have a hawk 250 (pretty much the same bike) and I took it off road and kept bottoming out the rear shock, cause it's got 5 inches of travel
The hawk reliability cannot be compared to the honda my friend. For the price point I can't understand why anyone would choose a hawk over a Honda
13:23.....time to get off the "sand trail"..!!
Nice video bro
12.6 horsepower and 9.5 foot-pounds torque.
I’ve never found sand to be fun at all. Even on a capable machine.
The most fun is not to be found on soft sand.
I must admit, it's the challenge that makes it fun for me. It's a little scarier with a heavier motorcycle.
These bikes are not made for drag racing or motto cross racing.
Its made to have fun on trail riding. Thats it.
Not enough power then just simply buy a bigger bike
Hola amigo, podés hacer un vídeo de la XR XL 200 r brasilera de los años 90 y principio del 2000. Saludos desde la Argentina.
Thanks for watching, Sergiio.
If I manage to find the XL 200 from the late 90s or the XR from early 2000, I will be happy to review it and compare the older with the new.
Somehow, I get the feeling that it might be the same technology 🤔
It’s much better off-road than a brinks armored car. But 150cc dosent make inverted flips and 50mph wheelies come easy. Just sayin
Maybe they will bring it to the US sometime
Supposed to be coming to the U.S.A. this year.
It is in the US now
Were the tires slightly deflated for these sandy condition? Probably not. Stock tires also?
Where are you, David? It looks like New Mexico.
Hi Johnny. This footage was taken in Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦
Thank you for watching.
Mines is great offroading
Nice camera work. How did you get that shot at 15:19? Did you hang your camera to a tree?
Thanks for the compliment and for watching. That was a drone footage piloted by my dear wife.
Grandma? Your new dirt bike just arrived!
How can i gate this motorcycles and their price
Wow😯nice ahh
All I saw was him riding on roads, never went off roads into the bush
Great Novice bike only
Esa motocicleta ya pasó de moda en Latinoamérica deben traer la crf 150 L de indonesia
That will definitely be interesting
Привет,можно спросить?
Fuel injected?
Unfortunately, it is not a fuel injection. It is a good old, reliable carbonated engine .
@@davidlogasi1835 Thanks, we also got the carburated one. I hope Honda would sell us the fuel injection next year.
I am turned off by the higher models because they don't have a flat metal carrier at the back to carry my things.
In the sand @7:00+, could better tires give that 9.5hp a bit more standing?
I tend to believe so, but it is also the technique that may help you cruise through sand.
does it works for someone who knows nothing about offroad?
Hi Max. It will be easier to start off-road on a light motorcycle as the dynamic is the same on all motorcycles, in my opinion , with the exception of the weight that makes things much harder. I made a video that demonstrates just that.
Хочу себе такой купить, и на нем смытся с армии в степи.
Is this the 2023 model or something from 2015?
Hi Ken. In this review, it is the 2015 model, which is still the same as the 2023 Honda XR 150L to my knowledge.
um yeah
That engine will need a rebore, piston and rings very soon after that sand ride.😪
If you're riding that thing on off-road or trail, you've got to replace your rear sprocket with a larger one. Probably two teeth or more.
দাম কত?
The price is different in every country.
You can expect to pay 2800 USD for a new one. On the used market, you can find them for around 1000 USD.
All this is doing is stressing your engine unnecessarily.
I’m guessing you will not try this activity again.
I agree with you 100 percent! I took this motorcycle to the deep sand for two reasons:
The first reason is to make this video ( :) of course), and the second reason was to practice in an unstable environment on a low-cost motorcycle.
I believe that it is important to practice riding on sand in a controlled environment, so if you happen to see it on the road, you will have an understanding of what the motorcycle will do while going over it and how to recover and not crash.
That soft suspension and 12hp is not gonna fly with most Americans.
For the price point, better off buying a used Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki 250 dualsport.
I agree with you as well. The motorcycle on the review is a 2015 model that I bought for less than 800 USD, so I think that for the price, it's doing pretty well.
Right because most are overweight or obese
I don't know, my dealer got an alotment of 3 and 2 are presold as of a week ago. My wife if 5'4" and though she can ride her 400 ninja she feels way out of her comfort zone on my 250l. I think many shorter people who want to try some lighter off road riding will give it a go. I'm glad there is going to be something shorter and gravel road ready and street legal for her to join me in my adventures!
@@geraldburmeister9637 it's not for shorties. It sits high. I'm 5'11 and can almost flatfoot it. Seat height is 32.5 inches, according to Honda.
@geraldburmeister9637
Hi Gerald,
I think that it can be a good idea to book your wife a test drive with the dealer. I also tried to introduce my wife initially to the BMW G650GS, which was not the best idea as she felt intimidated by its weight.
When I introduced the Honda XR 150L, she was happy to ride it.
Seems to be struggling a lot in the sand
It was struggling at low speed at the deep sand. Possibly due to my riding technique and not so great tyres for this type of terrain, but once you gain some momentum, it goes pretty well.
@@davidlogasi1835 Yes more appropriate tires might do it
@@davidlogasi1835 I’m going to get one when they
released in the US
@@flexapex9801 thinking I will too looks like a great small bore bike and light weight.
Looks like a sleeved down XR 200. I had a 1999 xr200 and with a few mods it made an excellent off roader.
So a Japanese bike described by a guy with a German/Austrian accent, trying to suggest quality.
That sounds like an accurate description. I'm still working on my Japanese so it authentic 🤣
@@davidlogasi1835 Don't forget that this is really a Chinese Honda! 🤣 You did a great review... don't let the naysayers get to you! 😉👍 --QM
@QuasiMotard
As some would say, there's no bad publicity. I am happy for people to comment whether it is positive or not.
If you took the time to listen to my annoying accent , your comment is accepted 😀.
Many thanks for watching and for your compliment. 😊
@@QuasiMotard OMG. A Chinese Japanese half-track motorcycle with 88mm main gun. I'm sticking with my Greeves Griffon, thank you very much.
I am convinced this bike does not actually exist
thats not offroad lol thats sand straight beach/dunes lol

I agree with you.. still need to practice . Lol
Ultimate bug out bike during the Biden Apocalypse. ⛽️
Anyone that would buy a 150 motor for off-road use is a dummy. That motor is too small for that type of abuse
Hi Thomas. Thanks for watching. It is not the best motorcycle for off-road, but I think it proved that it can take the abuse pretty well.
Dude what are you wearing LOL
If it looks good, that's my wife's jacket. If it looks wild, it's probably the jacket that I inherited..
Otherwise, it's what I found in the cupboard.. 🤣
@@davidlogasi1835 Look like youre riding into Bakmut all you need now is a rifle lol
Sux
They built a hideous looking machine. It's a glorified scooter
Well to be fair it is only $72 more then a 49cc ruckus!!
