    As a suggestion for keeping the stock rims try smaller diameter tires from Super Tires or Viper. I try all tire heights with factory magnets first. You'll be surprised how well the factory magnets work by just lowering your tire height. 😁👍🏁

      100% agreed. I rarely ever use the stock tires. front and rear rims and diff height tires make a huge difference in downforce and handling which translates to better lap times and more time in the slot. (magnet heat and dirt on the rubber will eventually loosen up the car a lot over time causing a de-slot)

    Terry at Harden creek has 52 level magnets which I think make even better difference than 42s...Also he has an explanation on his other website on how to setup the magnets to get the most downforce. I really enjoy watching your videos and your track is awesome. I have been hoping my Mega Gs and he has more options with lower Ohm armatures, rear and front axles, and magnets to make them way faster and handle a lot better. I always wonder if it would be a good idea to widen a tiny bit the bottom part of the chassis where magnets sit to expose them a little more to the rails and hopefully increase the downforce. Let me know what you think.

      Thanks, yup I am aware of everything he has, I find the level 52 mags to be a bit too strong for Mega G plus but do use them on my Mega G cars. As for the motor on the Mega G Plus there really is not much you can do to upgrade that can motor.

    Good idea on the rear axle getting the chassis lower for better magnetic downforce. Keep up the great videos 👍.

    You ever use the foam ,silicone covered tires ? They were so much better in my humble opinion . Been out of the hobby for a long time . Also used the slightly thinner (.0025 “as I recall ) TYCO axles for a bit of body rock for better handling . Never had problems with the gear spacing moving around . Technically the axle could only move .00125.”
    Helium filled hollow axles ? Makes em lighter . Ha !
    Used to use the straight flat shoes ( skis we called em ) instead of bent 0:26 bumped up stock . More surface area to the rails .
    Also used 2 ….12volt car batteries ( deep cycle in series ) for 24 volts ,Parma 45 ohm controllers

      I don't use any of that on Mega G Plus cars. I use Silly Sponge tires on my higher end race cars like my Fusion Super Stock class cars. Mega G Plus I don't really race much, I run higher end cars more since I got my Viper track. Thanks

    so i just got back into to slot cars after some 25 years or so ,i am 48 for referance . I just built a 9x5 foot layout and am probably going to double it . anyway i bought every afx Mega G+ i could find in a day bought about 10 of them then bought about 6 NC-2 from Jag hobbies and 5 Viper spec and about 20 new in package 440-x2 from ebay ...Any way i experimented on my Mega G+ ..the magnets are much bigger than the little square opening in the bottom of the car and they sit about an 1/8 inch deep off the track .. So i dremeled the square opening to match the mgnet size and brought them flush to the pan and secured them with a dot of Zap a gap Ca glue then light 1000 grit light sand to make any edges perfect .. with the stock n30 magnets they run like your cars with level 42s .. then if you do the same thing with level 42s and good tires you can get them to really stay planted ..I have done about 4 like this ..i can get 2 of them to go 100% full out with 24 volts it is pretty amazing how fast they are for stock motor and rear factory cars ..just thought i would share with you incase you were looking for more traction .i was going to keep this to myself i have some friends baffled as to how my stock Mega G+ can hold on and be so fast .No one picked up on it yet .. its too funny .

    • @marksslotcargarage

      I am using Difalco D505 controllers, they are his cheapest controller without any breaking. They are a great upgrade from stock controllers and can run pretty much any ohm car well.

    I purchased the Ford GT40 Mk IIB #2 Sebring from IIRC you liked in another video, and can't keep it on the track in stock configuration...LOL Did this come with a weaker magnet? Don't get me wrong, I like the car and will have fun figuring it out. I'm not sure if it's the magnets, tires, body shape (on the outside turns)coupled with the short wheelbase, or what.
    Being new to this I am still searching for rear tires and magnets to get, and from where. I am expecting my order of straight track for my drag track that will help determine if it's speed. The laptracker app on an old Iphone is not accurate (still trying to dial it in to see if it can be tuned) I am finding out. But it doesn't matter, I can't get this one to stay on the track on "intermediate" on the power supply compared to all my other cars, C8's included. Of course the track layout has a lot to do with that, and I do have some turns like you have in this layout. I don't think I want to widen my rear axle, the open wheel F1 type cars derail in the turns compared to the closed wheel bodies I have and want to avoid that.
    Edit to add: The #2 GT40 sounds different on the track.

      Hi, thanks for checking out my video. On all my Mega G Plus cars I swap out the level 30 stock magnets for level 42 and at a minimum better silicone rear tires or a better complete rear axle setup. I get most of my Mega G plus parts from either viperscaleracing.com or hcslots.com.

    Great Video, seen it before. I was going to not make a class for the MG+ due to no replacement motor and the need for a different controller, but now things have changed. Jag Hobbies have the motor and I'm seeing the need to go with Difalco controllers so I can run about anything, plus, the MG+ cars look to good to not run. I do have a question, how to they compare speed wise with their Level N42 magnets to, let's say a Bulldog SRT setup with the correct ride height (good rear tires)? Thank you once again!

    • @marksslotcargarage
      @marksslotcargarage  Před rokem +1

      Can't beat the Difalco controllers, I use them and love them. As for a properly setup Bulldog vs a Mega G Plus it is not really close. The Bulldog has a much stronger motor and way more top end though my Bulldog SRT from BSR Hobbies did have very big tires, .464, and .355 front tires. I setup my Bulldog with a Viper rear-end set running .444 tires and a Viper .350 front end and I was able to do consistent 3.2 second laps compared to a Mega G Plus running level 42 mags with a full HCS rear-end setup I am only able to do consistent 3.6 second laps so a full half second faster lap time for the Bulldog. The HCS Super 7 is even better then the Bulldog but not by much.

    • @MyFlash43
      @MyFlash43 Před rokem +1

      I actually missed your detailed reply. Thank you for taking that time to setup your Bulldog SRT and pulling that test as compared to the Mega G plus. Just in case you didn’t know, BDR also sells a Level 42 traction magnets for the SRT. Part number is > BDR 7890 N42.
