    Loving the new style and presentation in this video. It's obvious how much effort and you're putting into your content and I, for one, really appreciate it!
    You're one of the few people who combines not only the type of content us bassheads desire, but you also have the technical knowledge to support your projects.
    I'd love to see you build a T--Line enclosure with an 8' driver (or a 10" if theres enough space).
    Across CZcams I've seen builds of enclosures of every order, from infinite baffle to 8th order bandpass , all of which you thoroughly explained and demoed some.
    But, I'm still eagerly hoping that someone will build a quality T-Line subwoofer enclosure for the mobile environment. It's clear you definitely have the technical prowess to design & construct one. Please...

And I know it'd get a lot of interest from across the sound reproduction fanbase, whether the mobile SPL or SQ addicts, the home theatre crew, the hi-fi/audiophile purists or even the pro-audio professionals. T-Lines have something to offer every one of those scenes, yet so little is understood about them.

    Nice to see a new video. I think you have more potential here. If you seal it off from the trunk you’ll see the most gains. If you don’t want to go through the trouble I suggest you slide the box all the way back but leave the subs facing forward. The way you have them in this video you are losing the lows behind the box. You need to seal it off from trunk to stop that back wave loss. Facing subs forward is the way, just slide the box all the way back and re-test.

    Are you sure thats a horn? Maybe a stepped horn with each section bigger than the last as opposed to a smooth, flared horn shape. IDK, I'm not used to seeing parallel walls in a horn enclosure.
    51Hz is the vehicles peak, correct? That sounds about right.
    I wish you could show an rta graph so we can really see what these enclosures are doing.

    • @greenbassboosts8872

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Před 7 měsíci

      @@greenbassboosts8872 I'm not referring to front or back loading. I referring to the horn shape. Instead of a smooth V shape, it appears to be a jagged stair step "flare". As long as the exit is larger than the mouth, it qualifies as being a horn. I guess I'm used to seeing folded horns with a gradual flare instead of steps. Does that make sense?

    • @BudgetBassHead
      @BudgetBassHead  Před 7 měsíci

      @@JasonWW2000 you have to get strategic with limited space of a trunk. Staggering the horn is acceptable as long as you maintain the proper flare.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 Před 7 měsíci

      @@BudgetBassHeadI'm guessing you measured the difference between the entrance and exit of the flare and then divided that by the number of sections. This way you know how big to make each step.
      Have you considered making an RTA so that you could see the frequency response? I was using SPL meters and taking samples at different frequencies 30 years ago. Lol. Times have changed and technology has gotten a lot better. Assuming you've already got a windows-based laptop laying around you could basically build an acoustical RTA for around $150. You could also convert it to an electrical RTA for another 10 bucks. These types of tools can come in really handy.

Thank you for everything you do to help and test everything you do because it helps us so much

    • @Mantoollingo
      @Mantoollingo Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hey man, hopefully you can get a response from the creator, but as a quick answer, horn enclosures are used commonly in outdoor performances and concerts, the horn enclosure in a sense isn’t as heavily affected by listening space (while it still has an effect not as much as a ported box) so your out put will stay more consistent through the frequency band just like how the creator measured 144 dab on 37 hz and 53hz. There are a couple of videos that explain the math behind designing ported box’s and there is a lot of literature on the subject if you are willing to do the research and read. That’s just a crude example of what a horn enclosure does, but if you are going for more of your concert bass a horn enclosure would get you close

    • @BudgetBassHead
      @BudgetBassHead  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Most subwoofer horn enclosures are considered directional and they often suffer from poor transient response. So you would often see a simple bass reflex enclosure instead. In home audio every room is different so you would have to play around with maybe a software or just removing your subwoofers in different locations to see what works for you.

    I think it would be louder at the lower frequency if you opened the front passenger or driver window it's fighting cabin gain.. windows open sub facing the rear there's a decibel and a half on the table... facing forward build a beauty panel around it to get rid of resonance you would be very surprised with that which I believe you've done in the past videos... I like your videos very straightforward .. keep into consideration 2 with horn enclosures sometimes they Peak slightly below tuning by just cracking a window like you said it was breathing at 37 so roll the windows down up front and run it at 35 play with the meter being on the dash or at a headrest those different positions for the meter will be interesting and like others have said in the comments important for the audio world to understand

  • @Grommet2007
    @Grommet2007 Před 7 měsíci

    It's a 1/4 wave resonator. A true bass horn will be HUGE (Mouth diameter needs to be equal to wavelength of lowest frequency to reproduce - at 30 Hz that would be 10.4 metres (!). Most "bass horns", even the pro audio stuff, are just 1/4 wave resonators. Running an impedance curve on it with a DATS will tell you what frequency it's tuned to.
    BTW, the stuffing will cut down the peak output at the resonance frequency, unless you use only small amount in the section between the driver and the closed end of the path. With my POC7 build, removing about half a 30 L garbage of stuffing gained me 2.8 dB at the resonance frequency.

      @titoham-DCXLs are you sure? The zvx is geard towards spl hints why the fs is so high on the zvx. The zvx coil will stand a 2-4 min music rms test. The vxf is more for sql and lows.

    I testes a large 15 inch horn-ported Box hybrid. At 70w rms its loud enough to hear music at a high volume and start to shake Things. Next test will be 800w rms on the sub, this could be something pretty cool. 120€ driver playing over 145dB linear from 120-32hz and then roll off smooth

    This is not really a spl sub …. That exposed pure copper voice coil will not last long and doesn’t move as freely as the zvx’s black coated aluminum voice coil , won’t last as long or dissipate heat as well either due to its weight of movement . I’ve went through 2 of the vfx on rms powers (1500rms) and haven’t burnt not one zvx even damn near max powers 2500 rms 2800rms , 3000rms on jp amps with 14 volt numbers 🤷🏽‍♂️ it’s good for a dynamic/acoustic range though.

  • @bretk7916
    @bretk7916 Před 6 měsíci

    @BudgetBassHead that is the wrong material to stuff your box with it needs to be the polyfill because air doesn't travel through the material that you used for that so it makes the box smaller The air needs to travel through the material slowing it down making it seem like the box is bigger. Remove it and I bet your numbers go up

  • @giowilliams7855
    @giowilliams7855 Před 2 měsíci

    You would easily get a 148-150 with the zvx based on this test if you got a 147

  • @kaedeschulz5422
    @kaedeschulz5422 Před 7 měsíci

    That's not a serious horn though. It's too short and not enaugh area at the end and too much area at the start. For horns the compression ratio at the start of the Horn is very important! Pretty much like on an engine a higher compression ratio will make more power.
    Also stuffing usually isn't done as it lowers the effectiveness of the Horn.
    If you want i can design you a Tapped Horn for whatever driver you wanna use and how low you wanna get. Tapped Horns are a mix of a normal horn and a transmission line. Because of that they should work better in a car. Full horns work purely on impedance matching with the air around rising the pressure. A car is such a tiny room that it's already a rather high pressure environment which is where a TH comes in as it's more of a hybrid.
    If you wanna try one let me know. I got a built plan for one ready that goes down to 13hz though idk if it fits in your car. Can i send you the build plan somewhere?

    • @Grommet2007
      @Grommet2007 Před 7 měsíci +2

      Yup, this build is more of a 1/4 wave resonator than a true horn. I'm betting that its impedance curve will look just like that of a vented box (1/4 wave resonators, like vented alignments, are 4th order systems; there will be two impedance peaks with the system's resonance frequency located at the dip between them). I also call them "bass whistles". Want more gain at the resonance frequency? Keep the path length the same, but increase the cross-sectional area along the path (which will result in a bigger box, of course). Want even more gain? Increase the expansion from the closed end to the open end, but bear in mind that this will shift the resonance frequency upwards and convert the build into an even more one-note box.
