The USA's Jennifer Suhr wins the women's pole vault gold medal in the Olympic Stadium at the London 2012 Olympic Games (7 August).
Following Suhr in the event were Yarisley Silva (Cuba) winning silver and Elena Isinbaeva (Russian Fed.) with bronze.
Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

I like to see Isinbaeva being soo humble in the interview even though she got third, and everyone knew she could do waaay better. That's a real legend!
I just watched Jenn Suhr clear a height of 5.03 meters and break her own indoor world record!! Right at the SUNY Brockport invitational, even got a pic with her after!! Such an amazing athlete!
+bendy straw I saw it too! Crazy right?
Yeah! I thought she was done after 3 attempts so i looked away, but I just caught her landing after she made it on the 4th attempt!
Wow. My second cousin started vaulting when I was born. And she gave me a little of her talent. I started vaulting this year 2019 and I can already vault 9 feet! I hope to meet her one day. It’s sad that we’re not close and I never knew who she really was and she doesn’t even know me. But that one day will be amazing ❤️
Isinbaeva already legend
Neither were the other women. Jennifer did the best, so she won. Enough said!
USA,Cuba,...love them!!!
3 hot winners wow!
Does anyone have the full coverage of the Women's pole vault?
home athlete, in my main sport, so excited that she won gold
The best athlete, ( pole vaulter ) won the Gold, plain and simple, the russians time had passed.
respect
suhr is great
I was thinking the same thing!
I love Elena! So inspiring (':
Go USA!!!
So you show 6th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st place but completely forget to even mention Martina Strutz? That's cool..........
Underdog comes out on top! Suhr!!!
U.S. always will win! Go Suhr!!!
While I must admit that I am a big Yelena fan and really wanted her to win her third straight gold in London. I must give Jenn her kudos for making better use of the difficult conditions that fateful night of August 6th 2012. That said however, I reckon that hadn't Yelena gotten injured prior to London which temporarily interrupted her Olympic preparations, the Russian would have won. Hopefully for the World's in Moscow this summer, Yelena can get revenge. With a new World Record too.
Jennifer's time! loooool XD she wasn't even close to cross over the bar!
Elena's accent is so cute!
why thank you :D
YEA SHUR
Must be frustrating for Yelena after setting a new WR at the last 2008 Olympics
but Jenn Shur deserved to won the Gold medal here.. she is better then Isaenbayva that day..no question..:-)
Suhr is from Fredonia, NY and i live in Fredonia and so.....FREDONIA REPRESENT!!!!!!
Glad that Isenbayeva got her revenge in the world championship.
American Gold - Hooyah!
spielgelburg looks a bit like cara delevinge
Loool at those who didn't even cross it hahha
Disappointing Surr missed out on any medal this year in Rio.
I heard that she got sick
yelena is the best hands down
Isenbayeva showed her who's who last night.
ilyena insinbayeva you legand.😃#RUSSIA IN MY 💖
Suhr is married......
To her coach
One of the lowest level Olympics pole vault competitions ever. See the duels at Pan Games 2015 and World Championships 2015 Yarisley Silva x Fabiana Murer.
love that russian :)
Isinbaeva made Russia proud:)
Nothing special, all the first three places are brunettes ... they are much better in sports than blondes nowadays.
+MultiSexterminator this is the most stupid comment ever!!!!.....just love and stop the hate
MultiSexterminator
its funny that in 2015, u still ignorantly think that brunettes are better than blondes......thay are all special in their own right....stop the stupid stereotype
