The SVT (along with the ak12) has considerably lower camera recoil than other weapons, which make it a lot easier to shoot.
Like he mentioned I think these newer weapons have the recoil changes everything will get already built in. Meaning everything will behave this way here soon.

All guns should have less camera recoil. For a while during one update the game had much less camera recoil by mistake but the community loved it.
I think the main reason it's strong is because you can actually get good ammo for it. Takes forever to get M80 now for the RFB or Vepr, and even then you could be crafting SNB for super cheap for the SVT. Sure there's M61, but the availability and price of that is awful too now.
Maybe they should bring m80 back? Or just push lps to level 3? Idk
Dont see the justification in pushing lps to lvl 4 btw, if m80 is on lvl 4 thats a bit ridiculous
@@PartyCrasher04 lps to level 3 just makes people craft SNB even more. I think they just bring back M80 because stuff like the M700 is just useless as it is right now until you level up a ton.
BCP FMJ is still pretty solid but the accuracy penalty is nasty at range
I think the bigger problem that is outlined by the SVT is that a lot of the guns in EFT having almost non-sensical values, especially in relation to similar weapons with the same caliber (like the AK-74 vs the 74U) the values present in weapons are not really based on anything but vibes and I think a more standardized grounded-in-reality approach would be best and then weapon/ammo availability could be adjusted accordingly as balance requires

Honestly? Just buff the other guns. I rather see the Vepr back with recoil that makes sense than the SVD/RFB/SVT somehow being a lot less.
Also, about the hipfire and laser situation, the SVT has the lowest recoil dispersion on hidden stats, so it has less random side to side compared to the rest, which is minimized with the laser. Its not a true fix, but you can hip fire better with a naked SVT than a naked SVD

I think all the weapons in this game should be made better. I quit because using guns in this game felt like shit all the time.

They know how it works, at some point in the games development they actually got the recoil right. Then people complained that guns were laser beams (even though they kinda are in real life) and now we have what we have because the kiddies think guns flying out of your hands is "realistic".
I wouldnt say its not OP,. Even in the video you point out irs 50k roubles, better recoil than an svd with mods, and keeps the sights on target. It is overpowered but instead of nerfing it they should buff the other guns. Its always better to have a lot of powerfull options than nerfing one into oblivion
Longer kill times is a better game. Just move the price and leave the gun alone is fine too.

I agree. Other guns need to be buffed instead of nerfing this thing. Full auto is almost unusable from a standing position on almost any gun, even the most meta ones, at a range past like 15 meters.
The svt just feels so super crisp and fast, you can take followup shots so fast. I hope they don't nerf that about it because I really like dmrs and having one feel really effective without having to spend tons of cash is nice

the thing people forget about guns is that they have different types of gas systems. direct impingement, recoil operated, etc. it would explain why different weapon systems in game have different types of recoil. there's realistic then there is ridiculous, the recoil in game is a way of balancing a gun, sure. but the recoil in game just makes full auto (or very fast semi auto) near unusable when in real life it is much lower and much more manageable especially for 5.45x39 and 5.56x45.
Exactly. 5.45 is literally made to have low recoil and 556 is literally the same diameter as a .22. They are such small bullets. The recoil in this game is ridiculous
Having fired a G36 in full-auto in real life, 5.56 has F-All recoil, and its a joke that our PMCs (which definetly are better trained than me) cant handle a wee M4 or AK-74 in full-auto.
The weird part about full auto in tarkov is that it jumps really high at the very beginning and then calms down.
When you mag dump the last half of your mag is way more accurate than the first half.
M80 on PK Lvl4 is so wrong it should have been at around PK 3 to make make the SVT more fair towards competitors
Yeah level 2 for m80 was too easy and level 4 is too high. I just hit pk level 3 I would love to use more 762 guns
The svt's capability to have functioning, non "wavey" problems that make iron sights just that little bit annoying is awesome, id love to use a base ak-74 or val/vss with iron sights, but the way that the ironsight picture is now, where you think you're aiming is nowhere close to where it's hitting, and I hope that all guns reach the state of iron sight capability.

I find it easier to hip-fire SVT than Hunter or RFB. Easier to point with a longer stick.
Firstly I haven't played past level 5 this wipe my biggest issue with the SVT is you can't go between the irons and the PU scope without removing the scope the whole point of the SVTs scope mount was to allow use of irons with an attached scope
I've been killed far more by forgetting there are mines around the car dealership now than anyone with a SVT xD
It's a bit strong because of the low recoil. Perhaps limiting it to one a restock or something similar would be a good soft balancing measure.
I do honestly wish this was about where all guns baseline recoil was though. Things like the SKS should have that sort of ability to stay on target in semi-auto, and its mad they don't. Bad irons and too much random jump make some of the others just feel bad to use in comparison and I think thats why the SVT feels like such an outlier.
Take the rear sight of the SKS and the irons are MUCH MUCH better, still 100% accurate...
If Tarkov would actually implement a realistic recoil system a la Squad or Ready or Not, then they'd not only have more balance between all of the weapons, but also more enjoyable shooting in general instead of the random balancing they have currently.

This gun has been carrying me at the moment. Have a few bad raids and I whip this bad boy out and immediately re-up. I think it was better than the Vepr in its prime.

Pretty clear winner here, especially when the SVD is a top tier option because it’s 54r and a near guerentee of 2 tap.

The svt has 96 recoil compared to the SVD (which theoretically should be better in basically every single way) which has 160. A fully modded META svd has 90 recoil. 6 recoil less than the svt. If that's not overpowered then idk what is.
It's not OP, but it's just really good for the cost.
What's really carrying the svt is meta 7.62x54 rounds that turn it into a budget monster
most folks running class 4 right now - easily demolished with LPS, don't even need meta 54R rounds right now

i mostly agree with what you're saying, but i don't think you should compare 7.62x51 and 7.62x54r, "decent" ammo for 7.62x51 start with M80 @ peacekeper 4 (and it's kinda dumb imo but it's another debate) and "decent" ammo for 7.62x54r start with LPS (T-46M if you don't mind the tracer) @ Prapor 2, you can have access to "good" 7.62x54r much much earlier
like you said it's not OP but a little nerf on the recoil could be a good idea (or a buff on the other gun)
i havent watched the full video, but when svt came out i argued that at most it should icnrease by 10-15k roubles (happened) and the adapter by 10k (so it doesnt affect mosin and only scoped svt) because its not that big of an issue, one can argue maybe with the scope eventhough its not that good but if it was 10k more for adapter it would be 75k for scoped svt, which is very reasonable
The main reason you'd say it's overpowered is because there's no round that matches 7.62X54r, it's just so stupidly good. I'm not going to complain about it though, because it gives average players like me a chance to counter the people already running around factory with tier 6 armor and PKMs. We need more weapons early players can get their hands on, to counteract the progression issues players have later in wipe.
Yeah if anything it gets more OP as the wipe goes on haha
@@Gigabeef 100%, I didn't use it until recently, which is why I'm here looking at videos about it. Feels good knowing I have something I can actually two tap chads with.
svt has no silencer, almost no modularity, make it just a little bit better compared to Hunter. But bare in mind, u can put any scope and a silencer on hunter, while having more ergo then svt with pu if u change the hunter's stock. Overall, svt is not OP at all.
Problem isnt the gun. The problem is the 7.62x54 LPS is too easily accessible and should have no business two tapping class 5/6. They should quest lock the round because I literally had Prapor 2 in the first day
The SVT got me 19 pmc in less then 2 days in close combat and mid rang . Love this gun!!

I played with the svt 3x or so, as a scavvie. Ergo for this gun is crazy, it sways like a pole dancer and its noisy like a pack of dogs in heat. hits like a truck, but hard to manage. a poor mans SVD in almost every way
shouldve mentioned the rsass being similar to the svt, it resets much quicker so the recoil feels better
I think more level 2 and 1 guns should be viable late wipe (to help low level players not rats)
Mostly we just have had shotguns, akm, sks, and ppsh
A lot could be done with some ammo accessibility like moving level2 ammo to level 1 and level 3 to 2

Tarkov is the only fps I've played where it feels like you're fighting your guns more than you're fighting other players.
If the SVT's more shoulder-anchored recoil is expanded to all other weapons, the game will be much improved.
More like sternum anchored. PMCs in tarkov hold a gun like somebody who has never shot a gun before, lol.
@@Jake-bt3fc Probably true since it feels like the devs haven't fired one either. No cheek weld, doesn't feel like most guns are even being held against the shooter's shoulder, and insane muzzle flip on rifles to name a few. I think Tarkov is one of the few games in which its just flat-out unenjoyable for me to shoot certain weapons, which in my opinion is a serious flaw for a shooting game.
@@imperialwatch1966 yeah, the glock with the shoulder mount is the worst example, but I’m pretty sure on other high recoil guns like the SA-58 you can literally see the butt of the gun as it recoils as if you’re just holding it out in front of you.

One of my biggest gripes is how you can't use the irons with the PU scope on. Yes, you should be able to use the irons, the sight picture just sucks. The mosin also suffers from this and that one is even more inexcusable.
Good for early game if u are willing to throw 65k with a scope. Mid or late game it’s bad. But close quarter is the new rat king gun.

It’s 50k with easy cheap high pen ammo . And on top of that it has a high chance to get back in insurance due to resale . This means low risk but high reward. As for ergo just focus position and only take 2 type of fight ( up close hip fire and when you have the drop on them ) this gun will be my new 5.7 alternative because I optimize the fun out of games and don’t like chads
Well, just over 1 month later and this gun is still in high use.
It just has all the right things going for it. Low cost, cheap mags, cheap(ish) ammo, effective ammo not locked behind lvl 4 traders and lastly, low recoil.
It feels as dominant as the original hunter vepr when it came out. The simple fact that it’s everywhere even now has proven it’s the ultimate budget choice for rats. Now you can crab around AND kill PMC’s fast.
If it had access to a better scope or a flashlight mount, it would be double the price

A part of me wants to take this as you saying I'm a skilled player because I've been absolutely beaming kids with it all wipe, but I honestly do believe the gun is broke, at least in early wipe, its only 2k more than a mosin with better stats all around and people already hated the "mosin man" meta. One big adjustment I think the gun needs is that the hipfire needs toned down. It's very easy to hit almost every shot even spamming the gun from the hip in close range, I would argue I'm just as confident swinging with it from the hip as I would be a SR-25 with a laser (minus the mag size ofc)
Its just good its not broken especially considering how you cannot fit any optics on the rifle other than the PU scope. Its just been a while since we got an actually good early game weapon and people are freaking out that its shaking up the meta.
I doubt its broken in terms of balance, what makes it so popular and all the hype is its fun to use, the gun feels like what a gun should feel like, and not like its our pmc's first time ever shooting something
I’ve died very consistently by the svt in streets, so it’s not uncommon or a one in a bright moon kind of situation, people are using it a lot.
Should have used the Hunter as a test over the RFB.
Just got out of a labs raid where 3 of us were shooting SVTs/AVTs at eachother so I'd say the playerbase doesn't 100% agree with Gigabeef lol

results are results placebo or not. hitting a body with 762x54 drops them and dispensing the 54 candy fast helps make them drop fast

I'm putting too much hope on the upcoming armor changes, where ap ammo will simply not be something most people will care about unless they are hunting specific AI/ running factory.
Meaning: shots on target will be more important than most other factors. IMO this whole ammo meta isn't really healthy for the game (or any game, really).
Finding good ammo should be a 'nice bonus', where it will help you make more accurate shots/ defeat some armors in a way that you will win maybe 15% more of your 1v1 gunfights. It shouldn't determine a guns viability, really that should come down to caliber and barrel length.
Went to the woods, scav hunting innn mind. Nailed two bears with the SVT instead ;)

Nah it isnt, but like other users poited if you have one early you shred with it. I found one in my second raid and lasted me like 10 more when I killed a lot of pmc, just because my ammo was always stroger. That and the capacity of full auto made it super good at first levels.

7.62x51 is in a difficult spot, because it has bad weapons (Vepr, stock m1a) and meta weapons at the same time (Sr-25, mdr, meta m1a,...). Which makes it very hard to balance it out with m80.
My Idea - to buff 7.62x51 without unbalancing the meta - would be an ammo for 7.62x51 around 40-42 Pen and decent other stats, but incredible high durability burn.
Bolt-actions wouldnt be affected by the burn that much and would have a decent place again.
Vepr Hunter and rfb are cheap weapons, so you could play it a few times and throw it into the trash. But you couldnt mag dump with 50 rounds mags in a meta m1a, because at the end the weapon is almost destroyed.
SVT and AVT are slightly overpower sure,

Red Orchestra players who used SVT for hundreds of hours jumps on Tarkov is really something to fear
there is 50/50 on what bsg will do, absolutely nothing or nerf it in to the ground(if community will cry enough) so it would be another "vepr hunter"
I think the SVT just looks OP where we are now i.e. players not really chaded out yet. Late game even with the best ammo it will not be a factor.
I agree that the gun is not stronger than Meta builds as especially the lack of a Picatinny rail for scopes will hold it back in Mid to Endgame, but what makes it "broken" is the early accessibility of not just the gun but also the Ammo.
Also I personally find the AVT way scarier than the SVT. Buying a FULL-Auto LPS gun from Prapor 2 is just insane and no amount of recoil will change that. That they did this after finally pushing M80, which is worse than LPS, so far back that ARs actually see some use is beyond me.

The vepr hunter got it vertical recoil to 102 and it's probably the "welfare" svt with good scopes

@@Berserker3062 seems like we snipe for different reasons. when i snipe i go inot raid with 2-3 mags on me (usually 10 rounders) and a stack for refil in secure since ammo is unobtanium. And i'll either insta die or kill 20-30 AI/pmcs/playerscavs then extract.
Back when the game was fun i'd get 30+ kills with stuff like RSAAS taking in a full rig of 20 rounders (~6-8 mags + refill ammo) maybe i'm just nostalgic for the good old days of tarkov.
AVT at close/mid range is the op one. can't wait to put some PS in to that one

The most comparable gun to the SVT the SKS practically flies out of your hands and takes about 440 million years to re center, its not that the SVT is OP its that the rest of the guns are super under powered, or rather handle like dog feces.

@@Gigabeef I disagree that it's only for now. I fought a 2 man both had gzhels and fully modded svds. I won that fight, guess what gun I had? It's very broken, but the problem isn't it having low recoil, it's that other guns have way too high recoil.

Nah, SKS is still better. You can suppress SKS, and use pretty much any sight.

I think it definitely needs a recoil nerf, or at least buff the SVD's recoil. But I agree, the lack of modularity is both a blessing and a curse. I think the AVT should be 2 teapots instead of 1 as well. Another unique nerf might be to disallow the removal of the scope, forcing users to commit to one range that they specialize in.

Most of the other guns in this game are not balanced and are not close to life, the M4 and the 7.62 AKs as examples do NOT have the recoil they make them out to have, not even close. Its like everything in this game is a .50 cal, when its just kind of bad design to simply balance guns. Like everyone here is saying, buff everything else!
Tbf here at 6:45 this was a very stupid push, not really representative of "SVT being not so great at close range fights" but more representative of you being bad with the SVT in close range fights. You should either never have pushed that in the first place, or at the very least have stopped running before passing the corner and pre fired whilst stepping to the side!

The SVD sucks because its ergo (stock) is trash. The SVT and AVT have decent ergo with no attachments required. I think its fine. As an early gun that can stop chad PMCs, its hilarious to use.
I think the svt is a good example for what is going wrong with tarkovs balancing. Im not someone whos crying about every little detail that isnt 100% realistic and be like "iTs dEsTroiNg tHe gAmE bsg pLs FiX". For me the game just has to be authentic and the svt doesnt feel authentic like think about it in a tactical szenario nobody whould ditch guns like the m4 the ak12 the g36 for a fckin world war 2 semi auto rifle that was scrapped after like 3 years of service cause it was to bad. But this is what happens if you lock every good gun, armor and ammo behind weeks of grinding

SVT isnt overpowered, Its just that every other gun is underpowered.
its a ww2 weapon, only bad scope, hipfire is terrible, cant customize it etc to be honest I rarely see someone using an svt, its a good rat weapon, its meant for budget runs.. its not like u gonna do full gear and run an svt..
It has less recoil than a sks....that is wrong in so many levels.

Trying to compare 7.62 NATO guns to the SVT makes no sense, you can buy LPS with higher damage and pen than m80 at level 15. The SVT is best in class for 54r right now, and 54r availability is leagues better than 7.62 NATO. It's not balanced in its own calibre, or against the broader DMR category. No it won't be the meta for chads, but it's 1000% the go to budget pvp option.
I think that is fine, because the budget PvP option for the last few patches/wipes has been leg meta pretty much. I don't actually mind a proper cannon that doesn't fit every situation, gives more options for lower levels

I would say that it's balanced because of the "nerf" to 54r, with LPS and T45 gaining in price and LL2 Prapor, but given that atm T45 is available for purchase on Fence for half the price Prapor gives, I'm going to say this bad boy will be extremely powerful even late into the wipe, 54r just hurts, no matter your armor lvl.
