As a Father with a Daughter of my own, this whole arc hit me hard, but I felt this scene in particular all the way to the most primal parts of my being. That terror, rage, and heartbreak at the notion of somebody inflicting such pain and suffering onto *MY* child was just so...visceral.
This scene reinforced the knowledge that, were I ever to discover someone was intentionally causing harm to my child, in an effort to cause incredible pain and suffering, I would tear them apart, piece by piece, with my bear hands... Even my teeth. There is no feeling more primal, for any parent, but especially a father - as the protector and provider of his family - than that.
This arc solidified Bortus as my favorite character in the show.

We've seen Bortus remain stoic, show sadness and regret, even raise his voice from time to time, but to see him snap like that was exciting and shocking. Given what he was doing, NOTHING about him was GOOD. But one eye was still WORKING. Bortus took care of that latter, obviously unwarranted condition. There is that moment when Bortus starts to turn away but then the rage hits. At that moment, he is in full berserker mode and the inquisitor became lucky that Bortus brought along an external conscience in the form of Kelly Grayson. Otherwise, that inquisitor would probably have been torn apart.

Glad I'm not the only one who watched it with a malicious grin on my face.
I know Bortus is Topa's dad, but he laid her egg and kept it warm for 21 days to help her develop enough to hatch. Even if Klyden did a bunch of the raising afterwards, Bortus did the Moclan equivalent of pregnancy and childbirth.
I'm female, so I don't know how dads feel firsthand, but I don't see just my kid when I look at them, I remember the fluttering of them in my womb that later turned to kicks, and I remember the trauma of bringing them into the world that I endured just to meet them. I remember everything that came after too of course, but our history goes back farther than birth. I feel a primal need to destroy anything that hurts the being I made with my own body. It has nothing to do with vengeance, just the biological need to remove the threat to my offspring.
I can kind of imagine Bortus feeling the same way, remembering when he grew and laid her egg and went broody. Then feeling that same need to remove the threat forever.

@@Babidi111 technically...she wasn't really unfaithful. It is explained later in the series that the guy she slept with is from a species (Retepsians) that secrete hormones when they are in heat and other species whether male or female are unable to resist...even other Retepsians are unable to resist when they are in heat. So in a way it wasn't her fault. Even Ed was susceptible to the hormonal secretion as he ended up sleeping with the guy too.

I will say the actor for Bortus did a great job bringing that "There's nothing you can do to stop this ass whopping" energy. You can see in his eyes at the 0:33 mark, you can see the intensity in his eyes as they briefly dart away in anger, his body trembling with raw emotion. I do feel the music could've been a bit less present in this scene but overall Peter Macon did an awesome job.

This whole episode was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. As a father of 6 sons, granddad two wonderful girls, a war veteran and dynamic Catholic whose baseline personality is patient, calm, peaceful - I understood every righteous violence for what the Bortus character did in retaliation to his daughter. After all he's sacrificed since Topa was an egg. The man sacrificed his marriage, put his career on the line, and fought an entire society who looks down on your child --- yeah it would take my wife to pull from the brink of murdering the interrogator and all who was involved with hurting my child. #DEMANDSEASON4 #ORVILLEREUP I can see at least 4more seasons with this writing and acting. The Krill Dark Space may have a shadow enemy amassing, the Krill masters may not be all dead - there may be colonies of them out there, and the all female ruled world can add more tension.
