Better help is bad
i love you, i love your channel but drop better help they are not licensed psychologists, they are ripping selling your personal information for money please look into it
i love your channel, better help is bad they are selling the people who use it’s information, and they are un licensed
Will, In case you haven't heard....This quote was taken from the FTC website: "The FTC says BetterHelp used a wide variety of tactics to share the health information of over 7 million consumers with platforms like Facebook, Snapchat, Criteo, and Pinterest for the purpose of advertising."
Please do a better job of vetting the sponsors that you allow on your videos.
I really wish you would stop using better help.
It was smart to drop the slip joint, but it is part of a bigger lesson here. This is a master level craftsman showing. It isn't about getting fancy and experimenting with something new and fun. It is showing that you can do the basics to a level of perfection that only a master can achieve. Having a cool design isn't going to make up for having a bad weld or uneven grind. Follow the requirements to a 'T' and don't give them a reason to doubt your skill. You have this!
Hi Will, greetings from the UK. As someone a bit older than you, I’ve had my fair share of projects where the deadline’s really tight. I trust you can do this, but if you start to feel like you can’t complete the set to the best of your abilities, just know that it’s ok. If you decide you need to take a year, that won’t be a failure.
I love your intentions but what you are saying is un American I bet he sucks it up and makes it happen because America!!
When I hadn't seen a video for a while I figured you were super busy trying to meet your deadline, so I appreciate that you made time for this one.
Deep breath, relax… focus on what you do best, time management is important. We have all seen what you are capable of, so will the master smith’s. Concentrate and everything will fall into place.
One knife a week for 6 weeks with no room for error? I can hear the 80's montage music fading in.
Don't worry, you're gonna make it! We believe in you!
Your ability to recognize and cut your losses is impressive. That's always been a big albatross to me creatively. Can't wait to see the finished work and I hope you do well when the judges look at it!
I would like to see you take some of the steal you throw at the trash can mix them together and make something just a thought. Good luck with your builds.
Maybe when you do not have a time frame could you show how you made the weave Damascus? That looks very interesting and I don't think you've worked with that on camera before.
Keep up the good work! Love the videos!
Hahahaha the King Theoden clip was perfect 😆🤘
Thank you so much for bringing us along on this journey!
I really hope that if you are allowed to do so, you can film the evaluation and judging process. I’ve seen how much goes into your masterpieces and am extremely interested in seeing the sort of things the judges will see and evaluate
Mr. Will - keep up the good work - we look forward to seeing you meet your goal - you can give us the details after they are finished. PS. Please don't trash the original dagger- there are many of us that would be honored to work on that.
I think its great that you are being picky for the end product ... push through you can do this !!! ❤
You got this bro! Keep fighting!
That twisting machine is not cheating, that is very smart.
Will, may I call dibs on that "wreck" you tossed?
Remember, mastery isnt in complexity, its in executing the basics and in the details. Youve got this, you just need consistency and to bring your considerable skills to bear. Cant wait to see you crush it, but if you dont, take it as a lesson and try again.
AS A BEGINER FORGER OF BLADES IS --A2--STEEL A GOOD STEEL TO START WITH WHEN FORGEN A BLADE AND USEN A ANGEL GRIDER O DON'T YET HAVE$$ FOR A 2.HP BELT GRINDER AT THIS TIME WITCH BRAD OF BELT GRIDER IS BEST WHEN STARTING ON A TOOL BY TOOL BUDGET AND IS A 72 INCH BETTER THEN A 82INCH BELT GRIDER WITH THE 2HP VARABLE SPEED
Looking AMAZINGGG keep up the good work!
I think it would be awesome to make crucible wootz steel with all of your scraps. It's pretty cheap to make a charcoal foundry, unless your fancy oven gets hot enough, and you can monetize your waste.
Looking forward to seeing the finished pieces. You are a wonderful Smith to watch.
Nice nessmuk shape on the hunter
That was really awesome to watch, thanks for updating us on your journey. I think you made a great decision to go back to what you know best since this is a test to show your mastery, I was worried seeing you experimenting with the earlier knives. Also, love love love the pattern on that hunter, it's so cool and organic.
Hey Will, thanks for the little update video, was getting just a bit worried since we hadn't heard from you in a bit and we knew about the tight deadline. While, of course we would have loved a more in depth video series on each knives, it's cool that you could recognize your priorities there! No worries, shut that camera and focus on that prestigious goal. Me and so many others will be there once it's done and you're satisfied with it.
Hopefully these will the ones, good luck in June!
Great work, Will! And I love the pistola hanging out of the tool box! 🙂
Timelapse is fine. Good luck on your deadline!
Amazing work 😮
Good luck on your journey!
I love your stuff Wil. Keep it up my man =) God bless.
Good Luck Will and God Bless!
Keep on keepin' on, brother. Nothing wrong with taking care of what's important. You'll get them done.
Will you can do it, you are the best! Everything will be fine! You got it!
Love that it's going well this time! Hope you don't have to restart any more of them!
Watching this process is giving the exact same energy as crunching for a test. You're restarting and perfecting every step of the process which shows us all exactly how seriously you take it, and how seriously we'd have to take it to achieve the same standard.
Master bladesmith set, best 5 out of 53😅 best of luck with finishing this. Hopefully after this is finished you can do some videos on the truck, I would ike to see some videos on that
Will,
Don’t give up on the slip joint knife. After blade show do the research necessary (you have never been afraid of finding things out) and finish it.
Keep the aspidistra flying!
God bless,
Paul
9:40 This shot made me feel good. Like everything was going to be okay today.
Genuinely one of my favorite youtube channels! Its insane what all you are capable of, and so of course needless to say you have a worthy foe, time restraints! I hope i can get to a point in music where you are in bladesmithing my friend!
Good luck will!! Keep making content!!!
Hey man, seems like you got your priorities straight; youtube isn't nearly as important😄 Im very pleasantly surprised theres an update video! Ill pray that it goes well for you in Atlanta.
wow that weave pattern looks amazing...
Amazing. Good luck.
Love your channel as a blacksmith and love your video for the entertainment. Jim in Chile
You need to teach someday. You're great at explaining things.
I don't mind not seeing the whole process. As much as I love watching the work, Im praying for ultimate success with your master bladesmith journey and would rather you focus on that. I really appreciate your positivite attitude and perseverance. Thanks for sharing!
Keep smiling it confuses the other guy . From one Will to another you've got this relax and deal man .
You have me stressing out for you Will. Good luck with everything.
kinda fun idea for a future video series, try and make a knife using the exact amount of stock you have to make it, not wasting any metal beyond sharpening
You have skills keep it up
Im going to have some of my sheath work at blade show this year at booth 2308 and 2509. Im stoked and nervous
Yeap probably better toss that dagger…. In a box and send it to me 😅 excellent work Will I believe you can get it them done in time!
I love the effort you put into your work whilst sticking to your values. These pieces will be as awesome as ever, but I wanted to ask what you do when you’re not creating these unique & wonderful works?
Those blades look really good
Whoever shot and edited this did a damn good job
I hope that once you're done with the stress of making these knives and taking them for grading that you'll eventually revisit the two styles of knives that got let by the wayside due to time constraints. They both sounded like such cool ideas, I'd really love to see what they'd look like finished.
If you have to stop filming altogether in order to get your projects done, we'll understand. You got this. We're all rooting for you.
I would love to see a more in depth video about getting those really clean plunge lines. Great work as always!
No, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. There's literally a song to that effect.
Tip: When doing your heat treatment coat the item in high temperature paint such as for BBQ grills. You get far less scale and cleanup is far faster while the paint does not insulate enough to cause problems with quenching.
Yah don't forget to get some sleep man. Your work is beautiful and I can't wait to see you pass your master bladesmith test.
I get the feeling the I might be seeing you in October at the Texarkana hammer in......
Love watching your process for knife making! I couldn’t tell from your drawing - will your dagger handle have twisted wire inlays & flutes? Keep up the great work!!
First video that I have heard you pronounce Bowie correctly! Texas is proud!
Louisiana is prouder.
I wish you all the success in your goal to be a master blade smith, and trust you will get it. I have no doubts-At all!👍
I feel like you are psyching yourself out, Will. You don’t have to know EVERYTHING, or be the absolute best smith IN THE WORLD, to be MS material. You can do this. Have faith, and don’t second guess yourself too much. Use the Force, Will. 😉
Talk about stress Will, I just commented to you on another channel. Doh!
Anyway, could you please finish the slip knife and the other blade you, ahem, put to the side? I'd love see the outcome on those when you have the time. It would be satisfying watch your creativity flow while resetting the designs...good luck for June.
Wow way to set yourself up for some crazy pressure
Mate, take your time, slow down and enjoy the process so you’re not as anxious of a deadline.
Submit them next year and they’ll be on another level!
good luck will
Your doing well. Try stay in the moment and not stress about the restarts. Remember even race cars have brakes for a blasted good reason.
Hey Will, would you consider selling your failures as unmarked seconds? I could understand of course if you were unwilling to do so. But you throw away some interesting stuff. Also, I always love your Bowie knives. I would love to own one someday.
At first I was doubtful since 6 weeks is plenty of time
But I forgot you were filming😅
Y'ever have one of those six-week periods where you're trying to make five knives for your mastersmith?
Get the knives done. Don't slow down for us.
You're not going to be able to do it and you're going to fail miserably so I'd not even try to do it...
😂
I'm referring to taking over the world and being the global ruler of all mankind.
As far as accomplishing this task of building the set of master smith knives and getting your master smith stamp well you got this! I have no doubt that you are going to get that stamp. Keep up the great work Will.
Quick question…what do you do with the billets you discard? I’m beginning my journey in blade making and would like to maybe buy a discarded blank or two if you’re up for it. Thank you for inspiring us
Every time I see the red dykem, I can’t help but think of the Steel vs Stalter quote, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH SATAN’S DYKEM!!!”
I will be praying that you don't have to restart any more knives. I know you'll be super bummed if you don't manage to finish in time for the blade show, but when you are almost there, just ask yourself if you are 100% happy with what you've produced. I'd encourage you to spend a few hours praying about it, too. I have faith that you can produce the knives in the time you need, but even if you reach the standard needed to qualify, you still need to be comfortable with what you've made and only you will know if you will be looking back at this in a few years and knowing if you are truly happy with what you took to the show...... those knives are going to be out in the world for a very long time. You are the last and most important judge when it comes to submitting for the master smiths and you need to check back in with that judge on a regular basis all the way to the start of the show, just like you're doing at the moment. I am soooooo excited to see the final knives 😊👍👍👍👍👍
Talk with Slip Joint Masters about the test and slip joint making.
Where can I find out more information on that twist machine you have? I would love to build my own.
Nothing like putting yourself under a lot of pressure to get your work done. A word of caution. Even though you are still young take time to relax your older body will thank you for it. No sense wrecking your health now and not being able to enjoy life even a short time in the future.
what are those sanding stones called that you used for the bowie plunges??
Do you not have a library of B-Roll footage of yourself grinding and forging?
Put a go pro (or similar) up in a corner of the shop and let it run in timelapse mode.
Is the BladeShow the only time this year that you can submit your blades for testing? if not, I wouldn't push it, make the best you can and then present,
Will, focus on your craft. If that means your vid uploads aren't as good because you're working hard on your blades, so be it. Show us your master craft work!
Is there only once a year that you can submit knives for you master smith?
5 MS-level knives in 6 weeks?
Good luck and God speed!
Hi Will, have you participated or planned to participate in any courses regarding time management and/or product development? Like people have already menthioned, don't get disappointed if you fail to reach the deadline. Shit happens, you learn from your mistakes which is the most important outcome. However, getting that toolkit to help you manage time will probably be advisable. Best regards, your fan J.
Not for right now. But is it possible to set up like 5-6 static cameras around in places you typically use and hard line them into a computer and just run them constantly so you have footage all the time?
👍👍👍
Your chef knives are my favorite chef knives. I wish I could afford one one day, but my health is getting in the way if having the $ to eventually get one unless I win one in your drawing.....
SLAP COUNT = 19 ( little tough this episode, there were a bunch of "half" slaps... so maybe 14 slaps total? )
Just remember the wise words "Wax on and wax off"
Good luck man, glad I'm not in your shoes😅
I think you should be nailing all of your failed blades to a wallboard with a small notation and date. No effort is wasted when building skills.
Doesn’t the dagger handle need to be fluted with a twisted wire inlay?
The handle i mean*
😁👍🏼
Why would you throw it away when it could still be used for all kinds of things unrelated to testing?
👏👏👏👏👏👏🤜🤛
