  • Last year, going make had sent me a bunch of tools. The only thing they asked was if I would give them some input on how to make the tools better. They just sent me a couple of their new and improved models. I have to say, the old versions were good, these new modifications just make them that much better. Nowadays, there are not many companies out there that are actively looking to change and modify their tools to make them better. Here are a couple of links you can go and check out the tools for yourself. Let me know if you like the black tools or the red tools better.

      What did you think about the quality?

    • @FearsomeWarrior
      @FearsomeWarrior Před 20 dny

      @@ShopRamblings It’s fine. It’s just a rectangle plate with holes for pins to locate, and drill bushings. I think the bushings might wear out because they’re not super hard ones like in JessEm dowel jig.
      Anodizing aluminum can be done many ways with improved durability and I doubt they’re going the extra cost route there. It is thin, soft, and scratches easily. It doesn’t need to be that good, again, it’s fine. The design is good for a compact jig.

    I have to agree with you on the color. There are so many companies trying to make their tools look like the high end Woodpecker tools. Very often they turn out to be poor imitations of a quality product. I've been in the market for one of those thin rip jigs. I'm going to get a black one and start my going make collection. Thanks.

    Nice tools. Good on GoingMake for responding to feedback.
    The pocket hole jig is the same design as the Enjoywood one sold by BangGood (and now Amazon). Both are based on the Massca, but the GoingMake and Enjoywood both have 3 hole guide bushings rather than 2. The Enjoywood, doesn't have any blowout on the side of the pocket holes, but the end of the holes are not as clean as with the GoingMake.
    The Massca and Enjoywood both come with steel rods that can be used to stabilize the jig, but that doesn't really matter if it's mounted on a table. Of the three, the GoingMake looks to be the best value as it's half the cost of a Massca, and 25% less than the Enjoywood.
    Nice touch adding 1/32 increments to the thin rip jig. I don't know of another one that goes that small.
    You're almost to 11.5K subscribers. Better watch out, or the next thing you know is that you're suddenly famous.

    • @ShopRamblings
      @ShopRamblings  Před 20 dny

      I have several items from Banggood also. It seems the Goingmake tries to and something extra to all their tools. The first several emails I received from them all asked for feedback on how to improve their tools. It seems their goal from the beginning has been to make better tools than what is already being produced. I respect a company with that philosophy.

    I dunno I think kreg nailed the pocket hole thing by pure convince of the self clamping deal, be hard for any company to compete with that, that's what sells me on stuff is how fast and how accurate it is...

    • @ShopRamblings
      @ShopRamblings  Před 20 dny +1

      I have owned Kregg pocket hole jigs for 15 years. I have had issues with several of their auto adjusting clamps. Most times, if I am doing multiple pocket holes, it is all in the same size material. I am not saying that Kregg doesn't make a quality tool. They warrantied every one of the clamps that stopped working. For the price and features, I like this one. If I needed one now, I would have no issue picking up a Kregg locally.

    1/8” is .125 not .140 so I don’t see how that is a win

    • @ShopRamblings
      @ShopRamblings  Před 17 dny

      Because I was just setting it to a random spot. I did not worry about dailing it into an exact number. So, to quickly set it to around 1/8. Then, to cut three strips that are exactly the same is a win. If I needed them to be an exact size, I could adjust from there. Being able to repeatedly cut strips the same size it what the jig is for.
