I went to see Coldplay live in about 2000 in the Carling Academy, Liverpool just after they released Parachutes. Muse were supporting them and there was about 100 of us in the crowd. Me and a few mates had a beer with Coldplay after the gig. Crazy times, I used to love the old Coldplay.
Parachutes, A Rush Of Blood To The Head and X + Y will never be bettered in terms of originality and creativity Coldplays earlier productions will be forever listened to. ❤
Completely agree. Accurate. Really loved Coldplay from Parachutes thru X+Y, but when this came out in '03, I was blown away by it for a very long time and played very often for prolly 8-10 months.
I just listened to this album for the first time in almost 20 years and it hit me in the same way that it hit me when I used to listen to it every day. This is truly timeless music.

Aw man, awesome album. I fell in love with Parachutes and I remember when this came out: 2002 was a vastly different world than 2000 was, and this work reflects the impending war and loss of innocence we had recently experienced. It's a profound work. I still consider these first 2 albums as Coldplay's best.
I Don't understand how they went from this, to the crap they release now..

Agree. IMO, Parachutes was a joke of an album but this is one of my top 5 favourites of any band, ever.

I was stationed in Bangor WA at this time through 2007. I went back in 2019 and it was the only time I felt like I was home in 20 years.
Early summer of 2003, my cousin won tickets to this concert. We had both loved Parachutes in 2000, but this hit even harder post-9/11. Coldplay had not made it big yet in northern CA, so we were upgraded from the lawn to the fifth row, free-of-charge. One of the greatest concert moments of my life! I was able to see so many great concerts that summer on a 20-year-old’s budget: Dave Matthews, Stone Temple Pilots, Tom Petty with The Black Crowes opening. This album stands out. My beloved cousin was killed in a car accident just a few months later. I cherish the summer of concerts we had!

This album is just magic. I was 16 instantly fell in love kept on listening to this , this spoke to me so much to my soul I can't explain why. Bring back some much memories so many hopes so much love I'll always remember you you were older than me but you gave me everything I needed..... Please ppl don't judge me.... Coldplay's classics hit so different from the modern ones. IDK if it's because I'm from the 90s but man it always takes me back to my time
Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head, and all the B-sides from that era is my favorite Coldplay material.
By far their best album, the atmosphere of darkness and nostalgia remains to this day.
Politik is an amazing tune! The ending!
I came of age in Seattle to this in the 2000's. I don't regret my life choices but this will always hold an irreplaceable place in my heart for a place and sound that defined my life forever

This is their second best album yet just discovered it recently I'm 55 soon and recovering from a past traumatic relationship for 30 yrs. Im now happier with the man in the picture. Bad dreams this morning, and this helps me as they are no ordinary group . Most artists from England are great. My dreams, like my past are filled with violence and uncertainty as this was most of my life till I left ex finally 8 yrs ago . Is a long road to recovery when you have been through what I've been through. When is the right music, it can be therapy like theirs. Keane is also another one I found on this journey, which I call getting better and finally loving myself and living for myself, not toxic family, which mine is.

This album came out the year after my father died. He introduced me to "Parachutes" and never got to hear this masterpiece. Such a shame.
He's left his mark on you, young man. He isn't gone when a part of him is living in you right now. When you miss him, listen to music that you shared together and I'm sorry for your loss. I can relate.

I actually stopped listening to them after the 2nd album because he married Gwyneth 😂 and the 3rd album my ex gifted me in 2005 which I liked. I missed though the change to see them live between 2002 and 2003 with those first 2 albums, I am sure it would have been magical💫

I guess I was only a year and a half old when this album was released but listening to it 6 years ago and coming back to it now about to graduate college just hits differently. It meant so much to me in early high school and still does now. This is a masterpiece of an album that I wish we could get more of.

I listened to this album (all of their first three albums) so much back in high school. It's only on those repeat listens that you really start to appreciate all the other tracks besides the singles. With the perspective of time and all that listening I think I actually prefer the back half of the album. Particularly Green Eyes, Warning Sign, and A Rush of Blood to the Head.

Was never really keen on this kind of genre of music, till I heard this album, and wow my best and favourite album ever, just hits the spot first time was driving down the A1 at 2am off me nut on white and dark in a friend's 2004 BMW 330i at 150mph f😮irst time driving a proper car, anything better than a ford focus with a banging sound system and was hooked love the album, alot older now and wouldn't dream of driving in that state now, but at the time I didn't have a care in the world and just flew, first time feeling freedom. Shame music ain't made like this anymore, this album will never be repeated or matched again love it
