Red Ranks are HELL in TEKKEN 8

- The red ranks are the hardest ranks to escape for many new players. So as anew player myself I set out to try my hand at it in this episode of my 100 games series.
Lets just say I learned a lot this time... - Hry
basically you get through red ranks by not dying and learning to master your character. you get through purples by working on your movement and defense. and you get through blue ranks by learning matchups.
Or play Victor
@@frenchVynn or draganov
@@Carbinatedfarttyou mean Sergay Brokenov ?
Judging by gameplay attachments here, all man need is to start punishing stuff. Maybe stop throwing launch punishable attacks at random, but noone punish it anyway here
It honestly hurt my soul to see that Feng counter hit with b1 and NOT shoulder afterwards.
I was Garyu a month ago now I’m fujin and damn the rise from garyu to mighty ruler was haaaarsh and now I can beat every rulers and red ranks kinda easily so it really teaches you how to be better specially for punish move
Newbie Yoshi here, stuck oscillating between Garyu and Shinryu for weeks. Great vid, subbed.
I recommend trying to sidestep Drag, its daunting at first, but playing 2d against Drag is almost impossible to win. Drag has better frames on block than you, and unless u can react to every low, he will eventually catch you. This will force Drag players to think before they throw moves like running 2 alot.
Also clean up ur wall combos a bit, especially with heat u can trap them with omen against a wall and force a mixup wallsplat. But even then every bit of dmg matters.
Otherwise ur doing great, you are able to recognize ur own short comings and the play styles of other ppl. This is the most important part of tekken, and proves your roadblock will only be temporary. Because you have developed good habits in ur learning curve, and aren't stunting ur growth with excuses. Great video btw :D
Indeed. As a traditional drag player since his inception, seeing other drags get smoked or even smoking said players is straight dopamine.

Yooo this video was sick! I’m also a newbie battling through red ranks! I mainly play Nina and I feel what you’re feeling!
Good luck and I can’t to see you grow too!
I like how you're always trying to improve. Do keep in mind that most of ur early ranks are just a bunch of knowledge checks and trial and errors that you don't need to beat yourself up when you lose. Ranks doesn't mean anything until you get to fujin so keep on targetting self-improvement. You're doing great 💪
I look forward to seeing you in purples, also Feng I feel is one of those characters you learn to block from experience. Had my older brother not played him in T5 I wouldn’t be as good as I am at blocking some of those strings he has that end in a low or that while crouching helicopter fist thing he does that hits low. Keep up the good work, this legacy player is rooting for you
Great video bro. I've been doing well up until Shinryu with Jin. Started to lose a lot and close matches too (all 5 rounds). Now, I'm back at Garyu. It's a struggle for sure but after this video, I'm going to pay attention to frames and lab more in practice.
Everyone knows the Jin matchup and he’s not that good. If you are really hellbent on Jin, make a strong effort to not use predictable flow charts. In others be as unpredictable as possible.
Aye man, all those L's weren't necessarily losses, they were lessons. It was cool to hear you say that Mighty Ruler Drag inspired you to play better. Keep it up!
You're absolutely right i learned a lot thats what it's all about
toughest are blue ranks
Damn man you seem quite dope for only having a few uploads a month :). You should upload more if possible, great content!
More content on the way!
Feng is my mein. It took me a month and a half to reach the red ranks. I changed and improved my tactics several times. And I'm still learning how to play Tekken. I wish you good luck in the ranks.
Looks like we're the same lol good luck on your journey too!
Great video, if you want to progress w Jin you only have to use 2;1 and delay 2;1;3. I saw you didn’t use f+4 which is one of the best jin moves for keeping the distance and the control of the fight. Good luck for the next ! :)
Nice video bruh im a former flame ruler and now back to tenryu im a jin main player like you.. same struggles im having
My tip is play defensive mostly and dont match and actively use buttons, so dont do 1 3 4 or something out of habit but really think about why you use it and when. Learning strings and some frame data is a big help aswell, specially against characters you see a lot (drag, king, jin, kaz, dj etc)
Honestly, you're climbing very fast. I still believe that you already qualify as a purple rank.
Your analytical approach (by watching and learning from your replays every match) and the way you implement it in your games is very effective.
And um... Don't feel too bad about the Dragunov fight. You fought someone who has 175,000 Tekken Prowess. That's actually a Blue rank player and Dragunov is not his main. It takes one to know one. I have 176k Prowess right now with a Blue rank Yoshimitsu, and only a purple rank Claudio.
Anyways, love the content! I hope you continue your journey. I still believe you can make it to Purple and even Blue ranks. All you currently need is a way to land your 50/50s constantly on your opponent.
If you're interested, I'd be willing to divulge some tips you can immediately apply in your Jin gameplay. Both offensively and defensively.
Because I have noticed that you don't use his broken combo ender.
7:39 BROOOO THAT FEELING IS SO REAL.
Very big part of defence, if not the biggest is matchup knowledge, so for someone who has limited knowledge yoh are doing decent job, not sure if 100 matches is enough for your defence to be where you want it to be due to the nature of tekken characters and their huge movelists
And to prove a point about matchup knowledge, during Tekken 7 Arslan Ash would occasionally pick Zafina and once in a while use her snake edge, a 29 frame low that should be very reactable for a pro player in offline setting.
But they ate it anyways
I got Tenryu and about phiDX philsophy to red rank is really try not die and make too Many mistakes, patient is really the key!
Bryan players are not stupid, it's literally the hardest character of the game or at least one of the most complex ones. When it comes to snake edge, smart players rarely use it and the players who do only do so because it's working on you. (your own words) GGs on making it to Garyu though and good luck!
I guess it's just the bryans I run into, thank you!
@@EnjinFGC would like to play you once, you can then tell me if mines stupid or not lol
Bryan is honestly a cakewalk compared to kazuya. I mean sure his taunt jet upper is tricky but his moves are all quarter circle. Mishimas aren’t. quarter circles are way easier than f n d df with frame perfect movement.
I’ve been hardstuck at shinryu but with Kazuya. I’ve been trying to simplify my gameplan too and I think it’s working. However, I think lack of matchup knowledge is killing me. I’m running into a lot of characters I have no experience with. I’m finding it really difficult to stop people from mashing or power crushing, heat bursting etc. Kazuya has really slow moves too so it’s hard to make people stop
I’m a yellow rank player with kaz rn but couldn’t electrics force players to slow down a bit and if they don’t they just get launched? I’m alright with electrics rn so idk I can’t say too much on tekken to you but u are right that kaz moves are slow and it is hard to make players stop/respect them
@@seanbrown7083 sure you can try to use electrics but you’d be surprised how easy it is to shut that down. I’ve been mashed out of electrics a lot actually. Like I said, so many people abuse power crushes they eat the electric. A lot of people at my rank also immediately duck the next electric you try.
yeah I've heard kaz is very rough to play, Wishing you luck. the matchups are so overwhelming
5:50 never assume just cuz u see a lower rank color that it’s a low rank player. When the match ends look at their profile. They are most likely much higher with a different character. Also some have low rank colors within that moment but are not new to Tekken just late to the party & just got the game but still remember how to play & wreck people.
11:31 is so hilarious
Please don’t be discouraged if u see a purple rank player, they are just red rank players in disguise
True and they are so many players in purple now that dont deserve this Rank, i had 3 guys pluggin on me today im Tenryu currently 😂😅
@@MCWl-rx2ththey go easy in you
Bro 😂 I go agaisnt red ranks easy and they leave the first round 😂 I text them and we run it back and i clap em easy
😂😂😂😂
I see your over reliance on D+2. It is strong not gonna lie, but you need to mix things up by also using d/b 4 and f+4 in your gameplay. What I also use to bait out jabs is using d/f + 2 into special stance crouch dash then immediately hitting u/f+2 which is an evasive move. Try those as it may help.
What music is playing at 00:14 ? I recognize it but can't remember where its from. I'm guessing it's some menu soundtrack from a ps2 game.
Dragon ball game I think but can’t tell wich one
@@OveoHC1must be budokai tenkaichi 3 then.
Innocent world from Tenkaichi 3
gotta love the db budokai tenkaichi theme in the end
Best believe im playing sparking zero!
After months of learning Tekken as a brand new player I finally got my Jun to Garyu
Let the pain begin. I too can relate (Leo user)
I understand the difficulty. Im barely making it into Garyu atm as it is!
"Snake edge is so slow!, why do they use it so often??" ... Haha... yeah - Me.
Hard stuck at red ranks myself it don't feel good the amount of knowledge checks I fail but all I can do is keep at it.
Keep fighting brother!
Just made it red last night.
Would love to fight against you. I’m in Garyu currently and it’s been tough. Everytbing you said and showed is EXACFLY my experience
GONNA STREAM PLAYER MATCHES SOON
They weren't lying.
on god they werent
im a fujin lee and i went to play vicktor I have contracted more cancer in red than I have in the entirety of purple and fujin
Bryan is one of the hardest characters to play. He has some execution barrier.
There are two typed if Bryan players.
Beginners: Snake Edge Bryan
At Purple Rank: Strong Bryan players
So true
Honestly just be alert in every moves of ur opponent. Read all the patterns of ur opponent. Always crouch if u see high moves and punish all minus frames.
Im chillin at fujin 😎
yo bro i would love to teach u some tips and flowcharts and game plans that would help if u r ok with that im a mishima player/jin main and ive been in multiple tournaments and im top 8 in my country and if u need a free coaching session just let me know.
HOW COULD I PASS THAT UP? my discord is pixeldrink if you have that
I once beat FUJIN AND RAIJIN player😂😂 that was one hell of a rush and after that I lost to orange rank player damn you azucena and victor players...but yeah never crossed garyu I was so close to get to tenryu and then azucena and victor came to snatch that title from me
10:32, bro if he have 10hp and miss the rage art, grab im you have the 99% to win or if he have 45hp do the high kick and start the combo, and then also try to train on punishments because you have wasted a bit of opportunity to do a lot of damage to him, if you master this then you will become excellent🌹🌹
Brother I’m in your same situation, feel you
How did you use custom signs in your nickname on tekken?
I think its in the Player customization tab
@@EnjinFGC I mean, I can only use normal letters
If u want to main Jin check out Devilster who is a Pakistan tournament player & Book a Thailand tournament player. Improve ur Jin watching how they play. 💪 u got this bro.
As a Bryan player, I can confirm we are either really bad or godlike. No in between. I’m definitely in the really bad category haha
I think the problem is the character really requires you to think about every single move and read your opponent. We don’t have intuitive launches like the rest of the cast. Even Lee, another CH character, has a few traditional launchers that don’t require CH. So a lot of us, especially me when I was new new at Bryan, tend to gravitate to snake edge since it gives us a guaranteed combo without any thinking. It’s a bad habit that people who don’t learn what the character wants to do before learning the character end up developing
Now it's making sense, a lot of people were saying bryan is super complex so i guess I havent run into any of the GOOD bryans yet lol
Brian players are forced to get good the further up they go. Snake edges and counter hit spam become too predictable otherwise. Most Brian’s I face in blue or beyond are quite good.
Bruh I went against that same Feng (Daemon), same exact custom skin. He's okay, but got predictable after 2 rounds.
Yeah some people work off of a very rigid flowchart, but he was good. I need to learn more about feng
Bryan is defiantly a strong player, at high level
Seems like he's a very deep character but people at my ranks do NOT play like that
remember to sidestep, especially against drag, most of his moves lose to it
thank u
Now i'm in purple rank hell
Praying for u
Ive made it to flame ruler now but yes i can confirm its an absolute f**kery 😂
Im not alone !
@@EnjinFGC bro I dont care what anyone says you get every type of player in red ranks and they all get there cos they get wins doing what they do. You can play a spammer who got good at Victor using 3 moves, backing off and punishing (u can adjust but if ur in the wrong head space ur cooked) then next game it's a legacy pro on his 3rd character on his way to chill at tekken God before moving to his 4th 😭😭
i have two people at rajin let’s just say it doesint fun
I'm getting less and less excited LOL
7:23 sorry brother his prowess said enough he’s at fujin 😅
I always forget about prowess
All i gotta say is, fuck throws
Hey man just wondering what controller do you use? Pad? Or lever less? Seeing that you’re a proclaimed “beginner”, your movement and attack made me think you were a longtime veteran which is very impressive!
I use a Snack box Micro (leverless). I'm not a total beginner technically cause I played sf6 for the fist 6 months and I used to compete in smash bros tournaments quite a lot.
Bro, what was that weak ass punish at 10:33 ?
Next time you block a RA, LAUNCH that shit!!!
GOT IT (SORRY I WAS PISSING MYSELF SCARED OF DRAG)
honestly i would recommend you to learn how to ewgf, your jin is really weak even for red ranks i'll be honets there.
So if you want the list of what to improve:
Learn how to ewgf
Find Optimal Mix Ups
Learn how to optimize HeatSmash
Learn Basic combos
and you should be good
oh right also Zen cancel is really important but that's only about jin i would also recommend you to learn basic of the games like ducking, side steps etc
Gl
Thank you I'll try my best do do all that
Mighty Ruler Dragunov -> dick jabs 3 times in a row to handle pressure then proceeds to get clipped with rage art lol
Watch out for dick jab spammers, you can low parry it
Nice video man! Keep being consistent and you'll actually become really good
no way I did not know you could parry that, thank you!
That feng wasn't that bad.... you kinda of just spazzed. When you HB him outta the air you could have dashed and and pick up but you weren't ready. It's all good I've been there but much still to learn man.
Sorry even that comment might have come off a little snobbish. I don't believe the the feng's pressure was unreal. I've endured worse. The correction I meant to more specifically make is this:
Then you are feeling pressured and hit a button to get them off you there needs to be something to follow up with. It's like in the beginner ranks were launchers are thrown out everywhere and then one finally lands.... and you just drop the combo. The gear change from "I'm being pressured> I escaped the pressure> combo/oki/reposition needs to get smoother. Just like what is said it about launchers at lower ranks throw them out with the EXPECTATION the they are going to HIT and if they don't react accordingly. To avoid an "oh shit, I launched him; what do I do" moment. I mean if your throwing out a launcher anyways to your taking the risk, at least reap some reward, even if it's not optimal. It's the same thing with escaping pressure at that level. You threw something out and risked getting counter hit while under range 1 pressure atleast reap some reward. Even if it's just a ff2 for space or a side walk to get off the wall, hell bait a get up get up kick from him and punish/whiff punish; just get some reward for your risk. Hope this helps up your efficiency, it's just something that really stuck out to me and it seemed like the focus may have been on the wrong thing.
Red ranks is a peaceful time lol. Wait till you get to blue.
EVERYONE KEEPS SAYING THAT
@@EnjinFGC okay man jeez, I was just saying...
i promoted to domiinator. proceeded to get bodied by 4 gayru's and 2 dominators and was immediatly deranked. :|
._.
naw, this game has armored moves. It ALWAYS your turn.
You see hwoarang or alisa mains in purple ranks dw they are just eliminators who mash harder
LOL
Red was slightly purple is hell😅
oh god it doesnt get better does it
Blud talks about Bryan being dumb, though he have so much more execution than Jin lmao, please try Bryan and you'll see for yourself.
There's a complex way to play a character and a simple way. All the bryans I've encountered have had extremely simple gameplans and execution. Just speaking from my own experience
It was surprisingly quicker for me to get through the red ranks than through the orange ranks
For people who are new I can understand with the knowledge checks but red ranks are a joke in this game, especially Garyu.
I got to red in a week dawg and I work 9-7, 6 days a week😂😂😂 then again I been playing since Tekken 3. I seen somebody say it took em a month to hit red… ain no way.
Good job on red! its hard to rank up when you dont have time for sure
Higher the ranks. Cheesier and safer ppl play 🤷🏿
Red tank is not hell. Is just the point you start to find people who play a bit safer and then stupidities work less. But still a pretty low skill there. And lots of mashers. Anyone who labs a bit will get out of there easily. Elo hell cuz is a clash of mashers. Learn your punishes and get out. That it
real hell is mighty ruler.
I am fujin with jin and the advice I will give you is that you do not give Dragunov and Victor a revenge whether you win or lose because you have more chances of losing than winning.
Weak ass carried advice lol
I think that’s my problem tbh 😭 I try to give everyone a rematch whether I win or lose unless it’s really laggy or I gotta do something
@@seanbrown7083 never! dodging games doesn't make you a better player. it's just cherry picking.
@@garaktartv3647 so rematch victors and drag?? Well I’ll try that
@@seanbrown7083 i was just voicing my opinion if you want to one and done then do it. Personally i just don't see the point in cherry picking fights and deliberately playing less other than to artificially boost your shown rank when you get there in the end eventually anyway, if you stick with the game. it's just hollow gratification with no real value IMO.
Start abusing 1,2,3. Everyone gets hit by it for some reason.
it’s literally so easy what 💀just do 50/50s low ranks don’t know how to counter it
It's not easy for everyone, Also I think red rank players play very intelligently. Mashing or running 50/50s will only allow you to steal a round or two most people can adapt to that kind of thing
No, Red Rank is still tutorial mode for Tekken
dude is playing like the annoying noob and talking as if he is actually good. being trash and teaching others to do the same. good going.
When has he been talking like he is good?? He even says a lower ranked player is better than him and acknowledges his own mistakes and shortcomings
Just doing my best to show other new players my process of improving. I apologize if I come off as arrogant cause I am genuinely not good at fighting games. I'll try to be more humble
