Northern Harrier: "Female helps chicks into the nest"

  • The female northern harrier lays an egg every couple of days until she has a typical nest of five. Incubation begins after the first or second egg, so they hatch a couple of days apart. The chick's size difference is obvious in the nest so sometimes the female will give special attention to the youngest. In this case, helping it into the nest, twice.
