    In my opinion, birds on general are easily the most majestic creatures on the planet.

    Yes it does. By faking a broken wing or leg it throws predators off and protects the nest. The nest is a depression in the ground that's lined with rocks. :)

    I was just going to say that, It pretending to be wounded so the predator will want to go after the bird instead of the nest.

    One of these birds (Illinois) had made a nest in our rock landscaping we couldn't even leave the house without her or him chasing us

      This was located in a very busy area of the trailer park, which obviously became way too busy for the killdeer, as only a few days later, the killdeer and its eggs were gone. We were only there on that particular day. When we came back a few days later, they were gone. Don't know what happened to them, nor how and why they were gone. I asked the camp caretaker, but he also didn't know what happened.

    Huh, so that`s what that bird is called. I had one that lived in a field and used to chase me.

    Yes, that is sad, especially in a Summer Camp Trailer Park. We don't know what happened to both the bird and its nest. One day when we went to check it out again, both the bird and the nest were gone. Nobody seems to know what happened.

    I remember that I saw some of these little birdies on the school grounds a year ago, and tried to find the species name; but I'd known what a killdeer was from the age 5. but i guess I didn't find that it was a killdeer and called it "charkie" up till now. I refered to the bird call

    These are cool birds. I saw one of them recently and went online to do research and find out what it was.

    Yesterday in are backyard we stumbled across one, if it hadn't been for her I never would've seen her babies, they camouflage so well. She had 2 newly hatched babies and one trying to hatch, I picked one of the babies up and they are just adorable little thing's. After I started to walk away one baby ran towards its mother and followed her back to the nest. Gods creature's are amazing.

    LEAVE THE POOR BIRD ALONE!

    • @andrewlongworth1910

      But he's just stressing the bird for his own enjoyment. Im pretty calm.

      Sahba Setareh STRESS does hurt them, and enough of it can cause them to abandon nests and babies, then to have your fun you'll have a bunch of dead baby birds on your hands.
      Now it's cool to see, but don't go doing that anymore. Respect the animals there before you and give her her space.

      +sylverclaws Exactly. Every day this summer my little brother would go and yell at the american robin nest in my backyard, and eventually, she left and the fledgelings died.

    I kept on looking for the short bus that brought you guys to this campsite, but I couldn't find it. Must be out of the shot...

      Joseph Sonners This was at a church campground. Here's the link to more information about the campground: www.camppugwash.com/

    Church goers tormenting animals. Wonderful. How would you like it if a bear comes and continuously charges you with your children? See how you like being stressed out and terrified to get a reaction.
    Please show some respect to a mother who is willing to risk her life for her babies and LEAVE HER BE!

      +sylverclaws Killdeer are capable of protecting themselves. I don't want to upset you so ill give you some info instead. Killdeer can give you a good scare if you trod too close to a nest. some can become so agressive that they will chase you away a pretty good distance. I revere your respect for nature. :)

    • @sylverclaws
      @sylverclaws Před 9 lety +3

      OverChill And a larger predator constantly bothering her, no matter how well she can "Scare" most things off, will eventually stress her enough to leave.
      She is feigning injury to get the "Predators" to follow her instead of her nestlings, this tells everyone with a brain, she thinks they can kill her and her brood, and is over and over again, offering her LIFE. This is stressful. Like humans, though much more delicate, they can only take so much.
      It is disrespectful and cruel. It's one thing if you happened upon it and filmed it once, but these people are pestering her constantly. They know it's there, go somewhere else!

    • @overchill4465
      @overchill4465 Před 9 lety

      +sylverclaws true. I agree. they should probably leave most animals alone in the future.

      We stumbled across it and filmed it that one time.

    • @sylverclaws
      @sylverclaws Před 8 lety +3

      Stumbled? Indeed! You realize we can hear you talking? Telling us to "watch it, we get close and she'll come towards us" exactly as he described it. And hearing her cries of pure stress while you do it and "Awuh" at her. This is not okay, when you see these things, you LEAVE. One day if something scares you when you're protecting your family, you'll understand how she felt.
