  • A puffy jacket is always good to have as backup if the weather turns unexpectedly and as extra warmth during the cold and chilly nights in camp. Today I have the pleasure to present a NEW and probably the LIGHTEST down jacket available that are just about to be released.
    The PLANCKLITE by CUMULUS.
    Down products can be a bit controversial but CUMULUS states that 100% of the down used in their products is ethically sourced and from a fully traceable production process. So for me, I feel ok using down products manufactured by CUMULUS and I hope you do to!
    The PLANCKLITE is not yet released BUT upon release I will do a community post to let you all know, if you are interested to know more or to buy one for yourself.
    For more information about the PLANCKLITE (after release) please visit CUMULUS website.

      Thanks Andrew, I didn't know PHD, it's a little bit too expansive for me but good to know!

    I really want one of those, i have a MBell Inner Jacket (no longer made) which has 50g of down but its 220g...😬... Surprised its good for you sub zero, i'd need something warmer, the equivalent PHD Waferlite is only rated to +5C which sounds right for me. Its the windchill that really affects me. Thanks for reviewing.

      Your welcome… and sure, what works for me might not work for you. I’m not a cold person while awake… but super cold while sleeping! 😄 so maybe this is only good to +5 or maybe 0 for you… one has to try to know! Good luck…for me, it’s a perfect 3 season down jacket.

    Really liked your video! Thanks. Just a question have you ever heard of Snugpak Jackets? They are very popular in the UK with the military

      Glad you liked it 👍🏻 and well I have heard of snugpak but only in terms of sleeping bags, not clothes. Do they have any good and light weight gear as well you can recommend?

    • @tbrowniscool
      @tbrowniscool Před rokem +1

      @@roberthammenrudh Yes for a start it is all handmade in Yorkshire where I was born. They use Softie insulation which is an exclusive product to them. I wouldn't say anything is super lightweight but nothing is more cosy. The SJ6 or SJ9 are brilliant everyday winter jackets. And they are not that expensive. I also have the Antarctica RE sleeping bag which is good to -30. On their website you can see the items made in the UK with the flag.

    Controversially a non-hooded jacket is more versatile. That thing is light! For reference Micro Puff is 264g.

      How so ?

    •  Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@Braquemartable This is not a shell jacket. Shells usually have hoods and stacking them from every layer get’s difficult. Hoodless midlayers are more versatile for layering. One can always use buff, beanie, or balaclava. Matter of taste really.

  • @luckystrike482
    @luckystrike482 Před 2 lety

    What temperature would this jacket be good to as a passive layer with no other layering?

    • @roberthammenrudh
      @roberthammenrudh  Před 2 lety +3

      Good question, since it is pretty new to me as well and with limited experience so far… with no layers and like maybe a t-shirt underneath my best guess would be around zero and maybe slightly above (Celsius). I’ve used it with only at-shirt maybe just a few times at zero in my everyday life and that worked just fine.
      I will do a “full season experience review” later by the end of this year.

    I got this one but noticed a lot of down leakage from the seams. Did you notice this and if so, did it stop after a while? Cheers!

    • @roberthammenrudh
      @roberthammenrudh  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Sorry to hear, wouldn’t say a lot of leakage no… some sure but after two years of use it’s still holding up and keeping me warm. The fabric is thin so it can happen, suggest to put patches on the spots if you get smaller holes. I have a few patches from campfire incidents 😄🤷🏼‍♂️ .

    • @dimi7055
      @dimi7055 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@roberthammenrudh it's only from the seams not the fabric. So not sure if it's just because they put seams over the down and once that is gone the "leakage" will be done also. The fabric is not leaking anything.

    Det där med världens lättaste… Peter Hutchinson design hävdar ju samma. Deras motsvarighet WaferLite Down Shirt, som f ö Cumulus Plancklite förefaller vara en ren rip off på bortsett knappar isf kort dragkedja, deklareras till 125 g i M. Min i L var ca 15 g tyngre. Ska tillägga att jag inte har något emot Cumulus. De gör väldigt bra saker…

      Ah ok, 5 grams skillnad i sådant fall. Skrev det på eget initiativ, hittade helt enkelt ingen lättare så det kommer inte från Cumulus. Fick bara en chans att prova den och en otroligt fin jacka minst sagt. Får kolla upp ”Peters” jacka också, tack för tips!!
