1:55 Land Rover's original design for walking atop a Land Rover, very cool! why did it morph into the parasite 'Chequer plate' that has infected many many Land Rovers?

Watched that vid again - hadn't realised that I think the mower - on a 3 point attachment is the same as the 3 point tractor attachment ???

dad has one with the broomwade compressor seen at 5.00 ... it is battered though :( and restoring is a bit of a far fetched dream of mine. (not shared by other siblings ) sigh

Are you making progress with it ?
Is it the smaller of the two larger ones ? (This makes 3 different size compressors !)

The one at 5:00 is similar to the one my dad drove for the SSEB ( RGG96G ) with the special slanted grille, but he also had a hydraulic winch on the front so the bumper stuck quite far out, but the one I remember most was JNS756N a series 3 in grey and cream which also had the compressor mounted just behind the rear bulkhead. I’m not sure who made the compressor but I remember it had a large chrome screw cap on top which was possibly where the hydraulic fluid lived.

@@roddyk05 the screw that was near the tow point was for topping up the compressor hydraulic system. The compressor unit is a Broomwade Whirlwind 100 I think. i did download a workshop manual for it. But sadly no progress on it. Yes my father's had a hydraulic winch too The winch and the compressor do not use the same oil. The compressor is a vane type with wooden blades. There is still a hydraulic tank for the winch in the side under tub bench right behind the driver seat/fuel tank area. it also had the remnants of a mount for the winch which bolts to an extra crossmember at the very front where there are the spring hangers. I did manage to procure a correct and fully refurbished bottom hydraulic PTO (the seat box had cutout for a valve controller and the levers for the BPTO too. I also got a used hydraulic winch in need of refurbishment. but the start of the refurb is lights away :(

I'm restoring 2 Station wagons. Ones a dailey driver which gets used in my woodland weekly. It takes a lot of time for a proper job. But we need to keep them going as they're our identity, and we don't make much to be proud of anymore, so all the more reason to inspire younger generations of what we can do with some hard work and determination.
