Dean Forest Railway - 50th Anniversary Gala - Saturday 23rd October 2021

Another event that was ultimately delayed by a year, the Dean Forest Railway could still celebrate it's 50th Anniversary in 2021, though for the anniversary of the first running of brake van rides at Parkend rather than the society itself. The gala would see guest loco Peckett No 1722 'Rocket' from the Telford Steam Railway giving a representation of the railway's own Peckett, 'Uskmouth', from the early days of the railway. 'Rocket' was joined by the lines home loco fleet, which were seen on services between Lydney Junction, Norchard, and Parkend. The weather for the day was mostly overcast and chilly, the signs of Autumn starting to make themselves known.
