- Thanks to our colleagues at the Dean Forest Railway , we get to look at the operations of PARKEND Signalbox, a mix of traditional GWR mechanical frame and interlocking and modern Frauscher axle counting wheel sensors and technology which controls the end of the heritage line .
There are plans to extend beyond PARKEND which one day may be realised, to that end the line beyond the crossing and the interlocking are in place to control the signalling and points when the extension goes ahead, whilst the gates and points are for now controlled manually as required for running around operations.
For more information on the Frauscher axle counter equipment ,see the following link.

Very nice and interesting thanks
Love that crossing and gates. Beautiful midland signals too!
One of the longest supported gates in preservation, some weight in them too
Excellent and informative. Thank you 👍
All the brasses were done by Joe Nemeth
Thank you, but I wish you’d leave the captions up a little longer, and linger on the interesting bits; there’s often not even long enough to cue a pause to read the captions or freeze the frames.
apologies but this is something that I can’t get around, the editor is fixed so if titles are on a video clip I cannot make them stay any longer on screen, only on photographs do I get to cheat and keep them on a bit longer, it’s been asked many times and yes ,,,,it is annoying 👍
