      I think thats the dilemma, on a small unit like this, the extra weight isn't noticeable but when you get bigger it becomes a real issue so it seems to make the most sense on very small or very big that are less mobile. I have a feeling in the next 5 years we will see another chemistry that gives us the best of all of it.

    • @AZHighlandHomestead
      @AZHighlandHomestead Před 2 lety +1

      @@SilverCymbal agreed. The bigger units are great, but heavy. I think lots of people buying power stations or battery banks have historically been on either end of the spectrum, but your example of powering your computer through this unit and having it on battery power automatically if the power goes out is a great example of why this would be a good size. Then it can also be mobile for camping/beach/lake/etc

    Actually using a 100w solar panel would be the best way to go. If you use a 60w panel you won't get the full 60w, probably end up getting in the high 40's to low 50's. Using a 100w panel would probably get you in the 80's range which would charge the station quite well.

    • @makego
      @makego Před 2 lety +6

      Correct. Also, it has a charge controller built in so it won't "burn out the port" if supplied with 100W solar. A 12V input from a vehicle cig port is typically a 15-amp circuit and it doesn't draw all 180 watts available and blow the fuse, it self-limits to 65W (4+ hours to charge). He also has other misinformation in the video--it's 256Wh, not 298.

    Overpriced, can get similar specs from Golabs, their 256Wh unit (the i200) is only $199. Honestly manufactures still need a way to go regarding charging time, the GoLabs i200 seems to limit me charging around almost 70 watts (I felt it is limited also to 65 watts or so). Most Lithium chems can handle 1C charging so I don't know why they don't let us charge it way faster, let it take in 150 watts or something. We have GOT to get charge times shortened to make these devices more useful

    Question why would the wattage on the solar matter. To my understanding a device will only draw the amount of power it needs. So if it's hooked up to 100 watt solar panel wouldn't it only draw the 60 watts it needs and nothing else?
    For example I have a DC cooler that has a 48 watts draw. But my Jackory can put out 100 watts but the cooler only draws the 48 it needs to run.

    • @maxoverridemax
      @maxoverridemax Před 2 lety

      @@makego I don't even think the built-in charge controller will regulate the current. The current should regulate itself. I took an Electronics class along time ago. The way my teacher explained it to me was this. If you match the voltage requirements of a load and the minimum current requirements it will work if the current supply is larger the load will simply use what it needs and nothing more. At least that's the way my brain understand it. I still could be wrong.
      I got a jackery. The model says it requires a 60 watt solar panel. But I can hook up a 100 watt solar panel as long as the voltage is within spec of what the jackery can take. So I couldn't in theory wire two solar panels in parallel so long as the voltage is still within spec of the jackery it won't charge any faster but it won't overload it either. I would wire two solar panels in parallel on like a cloudy day.

      Forgot to mention the series s with the Xscreen monitor at its highest is around 80 to 85 watts. So does that mean I would get roughly just under 3 hours playtime for a 256 WH power station?

    Received my Anker 512 yesterday from Amazon. Plugged in charger but display wont stay on. After 100% charge, light, AC outlets and display button do not work. Disappointed.

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  Před 2 lety

      The display on all of these automatically turns off and it may not seem it but 15 seconds is pretty good. Some bluettis shutoff after 7 seconds which is crazy. Good news though you dont have to unplug it to turn it back on, just press the button under the display on the bottom left corner, it says display. It will make the display wake back up whenever you want to. Hope this helps.

      @@SilverCymbal Even pushing the display button does not turn it on. Light bar doesn't work, AC outlets do not work even after pushing the On/Off button.
      Display turns on for 2 seconds when you slide the Power Saving Button....shows 100%. Sending back and will try one more time with a replacement.

    We have used the czcams.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

    Anker 521 - Totally useless - load of issues by users and mines dead now too - won’t charge/ or replace under warranty as I bought used. Display never showed correct % from the start - suggest any buyers find something better.
