Mahanadi is a 1994 Tamil-language Indian drama film
Story & Screenplay by Kamal Haasan Directed by Santhana Bharathi featuring Kamal Haasan, Sukanya and Cochin Haneefa. It portrays the grief of a humble villager who sees his family and property being ruined. The film deals with several issues such as corruption and child trafficking. The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil.

Mahanadhi is a heavy movie. Kamal sir will make you break into tears in many scenes. Village portions were shot in Thirunageshwaram which is nearby Kumbakonam. I was studying 2nd std and I shook hands with Ulaganayagan on the film sets. It was a beautiful and a touching experience

@@sravikrishna3 that is one of the finest movie. It has everything in best proportions. Dialogues, screenplay, music, acting and of course the wierd story. It's not for weak hearted people. Guna floped in box office but it acclaimed lot of applaudes.

"Naa thirudanallai, MuTTaL" this one dialogue starts the story on the track. Mahanadhi, a film crafted with emotions than intelligence. Nobody yet dare to remake this film, a masterpiece.

Mahanadhi is a MUSICAL! The BGMs are a part of the scenes. How does the word ILAYARAJA gets separated while talking about Guna / Mahanadhi / Paneer pushpangal / KKK / IO etc. ? ALL the 6 songs in Mahanadhi are great! 1. Thai pongal (The Pongal song that celeberates the soil, culture & its tradition while portraying how happy the family once was) 2. Peigala boodhama (Tuning such a terrific song for a very specific situation is ONLY possible by IR; Reminds me of ANOTHER great song in Moondram Pirai: Nari kadhai), 3.
