    You cabinet looks amazing, of course. Your dad is a gem. I have been following you for years and remember when your mother passed away (I am so, so sorry). What an amazing memory to have of her during your wedding trip .

      Thank you!!! 💖 Getting married was rad but getting to take a huge roadtrip with my parents was seriously the icing on the cake. I am SO thankful we were able to do that (and that I got to bring some cool souvenirs.)

    Girl you and your husband NEED to take a road trip to a goodwill bins, you would find so many awesome things for the house! I’m restoring a home in Maine and we have found good vintage hardware, bedding, books you name it!

    The cabinet having the round glass intact was worth the $60 and more! So many of these type are missing one of the glass panes, great find!

      Right!? I totally agree! Its such fragile glass too. I basically held my breath the entire drive home hoping it wouldnt just explode every pothole!

    I love your story telling about how you acquired your items. You and your father did an amazing job on the shelves. Your display looks perfect in your beautiful cabinet. ❤️

    You could try museum wax to keep the tiny skulls in place!

    I agree with the frogs not being placed in the new cabinet. Even the "Teeth" book is the correct color! 💖

    Your story about the dog skull was actually sweet, that you wanted to give him a home. I have a friend who collects skulls as well and I donated a bunch to her from the school I work at when they cleaned out the science wing for remodeling, hated the idea of them going to the trash. I have another friend who collects taxidermy for same reasons. People often think it’s morbid but I actually find this thinking really sweet when you talk to them about it.

    • @kaylahstroup
      @kaylahstroup  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Gah! I can't imagine the amount cool old sciene wing stuff that gets tossed because the person in charge of cleaning it out doesn't have a weird friend. 😛 Glad you were able to find them a home, I bet your friend was stoked too!

    Love it! Make me want to add to my little collection. I found a (I think) raccoon skull and a deer jaw last year hiking with my husband and son. Nature had cleaned it up pretty good, but I did some extra cleaning. Nice to know I’m not the only weirdo that finds bones cool

    Bwahaha! I fell every moment of your frustration when you were re-arranging shelves and trying to find the perfect placement and things would not sit right. I have 4 large curio cabinets and a bunch of mini ones and it's super fun to play with arranging everything so it looks perfect - and super frustrating when thing Will Not Sit The Way You Want Them To. I love when there's a memory attached to a curio like with your antler and I truely appreciate that you have given a loving home to the little dog you found.

    Good job! Just a thought - this is the time of year you may find abandoned wasps' nests still pretty much intact. That might be a curious find. If you do go to collect one, just be sure it is truly abandoned.

    19:15 Im sorry. Rat snakes that live in the attic! I listened three times to make sure I had that right. I just- what?
    On a different note I very much enjoyed the video. Thank you for the work that went into sharing it

      LOL! Yeeeeah, we have a snake... problem. I mean, they don't bother us and they probably keep other critters under control but we've found LOTS of snake skins in the attic and spotted them climbing the exterior of the house.
