Parei pra entender a tradução dessa musica, e vi que Elephant Gun é o nome de uma arma usada para matar elefantes. E a característica principal do elefante é a memoria dele, porque ele nunca esquece nada e a musica trata tipo disso , de lembranças do passado e que muitas vezes algumas lembranças do que fizemos ou deixamos de fazer nos fazem mal e de certa forma queremos matar essa lembrança ..

Vi um comentário aqui de alguém explicando o significado da música ser sobre lembranças e tals. Essa música faz parte de uma das melhores lembranças que tenho com meu pai. Nós éramos mto apegados qdo eu era criança mas com a adolescência nós perdemos esse vínculo por N motivos. Lembro de um dia ele estar me levando pra algum lugar (acho que era pro curso de inglês), e eu estava ouvindo um CD que eu tinha gravado com várias músicas, no carro, e essa música (que até hoje é uma das minhas preferidas) começou a tocar e ele, espontaneamente disse que tinha achado ela mto bonita e eu fiquei TÃO feliz por dentro, pq foi a primeira vez em anos que senti uma conexão com meu pai. Não tem como ouvir ela hoje sem lembrar desse momento que foi simples, mas me marcou (isso já deve ter uns 16 anos).

I had listened to Elephant Gun for the first time during my search on Google about Lebanese civil war after watching the movie "West Beirut" when I was 18, it is one of my favorites since then. And I am so glad to have it listened live too. I am sure I have had watched this video clip for hundreds of times before. Then Spotify came up and listened to it just there. But then (it is today) decided "Elephant Gun" to be the song of our wedding dance with my fiancee and I wanted to watch it again and again. But maaan is this amazing clip available only in 240p? I loved this song from the first time my father played it when I was a little kid. It has been my favorite song ever since. I'm now 22 and it never changed, it helped me trough tough times, I got to a music festival on my own hours from home just to see it played live. I want it to be the last thing I hear, and for it to be played after I pass.

I prefer Sufjan but this is pretty good. It reminds me of the odd song called The Predatory Wasps of The Palisades is Out to Get Us. Also the trumpets remind me of a slight moment in the Illinois album in the song Tallest Man, Broadest Shoulders before the percussion takes over and makes the most amazing beat with the Illinois choir reading off of an old Illinois poem...

The return of nostalgia that slowly creeps into my soul when his shivering like voice makes a temporary settlement in my ear is a feeling of bliss, for I heard him for the first time 4 years from now while i was still in the 9th Grade trying to finish my trig assignment. Lockdown introduced me to Beirut and it’s a beautiful door opened i say. I started listening and asked many friends to do the same. I started listening more of it in the tenth grade which was a time of rush and stress as my preparation for my board exams engulfed this dark cloud over my head and beirut was like rain that gave me peace and made me hope for the warm sunny day tomorrow.
Truly artists do this, impressions that resonates forever in the hearts of people who meet their creation in any moment of the future. Because there are some things that are always around in human nature. They see it, capture it and put in piece of art.
