it looks like the more powerful hardware is, the less f*ck devs give about optimization nowadays
That's how RT works, especially: more marketing for less design work. That explains why it impacts so much on performances and looks so bad at the same time 😌
The draw distance of NPCs is embarassing, even PS2 games have better draw distances than this game.
Gracias, estaba esperando este video.
Frametime graph going hog wild
The frame pacing looks so goddamn bad. This game needed more time in the oven for sure.
Japanese games always like this
@ms3862 Oh look guys, Japanese games always have this, now it's good.
That better not be bad frame-pacing I'm seeing on the 30fps lock, Capcom.
It is lol
Denuvo is the problem for optimization
@@treepalds3978 no denuvo on ps5 tho
I can testify that the frame pacing is terrible on 30FPS. I was so pumped when I saw they brought it in, cos a cap like that worked wonders for me in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, but here it feels legit worse than the variable rate. Turning off ray tracing with variable framerate makes a big difference, as far as I’ve seen in my own gameplay. But awesome video here, shows all you need to know.

Depends what games you're playing.
If you only play games like Cyberpunk at launch, Starfield and this etc., it'll seem that way.
But there are a lot of bangers that came out good 60fps smooth off the rip.
Thank you for testing, was waiting for a video since i felt it runned a bit better without rt, do you think it’s something to gain without Motionblur?
Bro what is that Bloodborne-ass frame pacing
That's the worst 30fps lock I have seen in a while
Feels like Bloodborne at times as well lol
Yep.. RT off uncapped might actually pull 60 on the ps5 pro though. That will be something
@@JasonsadventuresThe problem seems to be the CPU and the Pro (according to the leaks) has pretty much the same CPU as the regular PS5 so it'd probably be very similar
@@Jaooda It has 10% more cpu speed and like 25% more memory bandwidth (which is the really big deal for games like this). It's a pretty big difference actually, along with the much much more powerful gpu. I think people will be surprised and happy with how the pro performs.

I dunno, man. Bloodborne has terrible frame pacing even on PS5. There looks to be something seriously off here, besides just a normal CPU bottleneck. I’m not sure PS6 will get this to 60fps or fix the frame pacing. Something is wrong, here.
Bro those frame times. Holy fuck.
The optimization of this sucks balls.
Cómo se llama la canción que usas de fondo?, es muy relax
I think unlock with RT off is what I'll be going with.
I don't mind lower quality lighting if it'll bump my frames up, and even though there were some drops, it was pretty insignificant as far as I'm concerned.
Why does the rt on and off comparison have a Nvidia logo for a PS5 game? 😅
nvidia is sponsoring this channel ;)

@@mikireqmetal4757wait, now that I'm looking, the title says ray tracing PC comparison... Why wouldn't he show ray tracing on and off from ps5 in this PS5 focused video?
@user-el8fc5xg9h what are you talking about bruh, it's literally 1) locked 30fps w/ RT On, unlocked w/ RT on, and and then unlocked w/ RT off, bassically only 35 with RT on, and then 45 with RT off, and then for some reason just a difference with RT on/off on pc??
@@rskid777 maybe I wasn't clear with my wording. There are points in the video were they show the graphical difference between rt on and off. The PS5 just got the update to disable rt, so why are those comparisons captured on PC?
Please drop the resolution to 1080p and open up that vrr mode. I would gladly drop rt to get a smooth 40.
vrr doesnt work on 47 frames and below sadly , buy a locked 40 done under 120hz mode would feel just as smooth

@@crustaceo5909 obviously but that’s not something that has to be done by the game for pc most gpu drivers offer it their own and already applied to the lic version this is talk about the console
How do you get information like frame per second live on ps5 in graphics mode. And is it possible to have information such as the temperature or the watt of the GPU?
What in the name of Bloodborne is going on with those frame time spikes in the 30fps mode? It’s better than just leaving it uncapped but that’s the worst frame pacing I’ve seen in a while.
Very nice video; I was here just for the RT comparison ('cause framerate is awful anyway) and I have to say that in a game where light and dark have a meaningful impact RT on is my choice.
And 30 locked RT on will be.
I'll probably stick with raytracing enabled & just limit DD2 to 30fps.
I think you can just tell that DD2 is pretty much designed for raytracing lighting.
Without raytracing, a lot of things just look "flat"...
And I would simply lose a lot of atmosphere.
I’ve been playing on pc without ray tracing and it’s looked great to me
I don't think it's that the game is made for ray-tracing, it's just the poor lighting design on Capcom's part. I'm not sure if it happens on console, but on PC there's a bunch of flickering issues in the game.
ray tracing not change anything
@@ProfessionalTaleThe game looks much better with the ray tracing on. What in the world do you mean it wasn't made with it? Any 3D game can and will benefit from a decent RT implementation and this one is decent enough. CPU optimization sucks
I agree 100%.
I've already gotten used to it, and without RT, I would feel as if I'm missing out on the gorgeous visuals. Maybe if we get a performance mode that locks 60, but you said it, this game was made for high fidelity, so that's where it will stay. Now, if we ever get a 120 option, we'll definitely have to see but that would probably be on the PS6.
I'll keep the RT on. The lighting is really what makes this game look as good as it does. I'll just play it the same way.
lol what does it matter if framerate sucks
I only turned off motion blur
So you're keeping on the effect that lowers image resolution and is badly implemented in the game (probably it needs a patch), because it 'looks as good as it does'...? 🤔
Ok, suit yourself 🤷🏻♂️ Keep marketing alive, bro! 👍🏻😌
Poco a poco estará listo para pillar
I'll wait a year when the game is on sale and they finally learn how to properly optimize the game. This game needed a 6 month delay at minimum.
✌️
If I only had a time machine
What a shame, its such an amazing game, ive had zero issues on ps5, 70 hours in so far. This game is a lot better when youre not an uptight REEEEEEEtard.
You dont understand what this game is.
There is no optimizing that will make it how you want it to be, it is extremely CPU intensive as it has complex systems that the CPU is using.
Its not visuals, its not framerate...its that the game cannot use any more power from the CPU on visual crap as the CPU power is being used on the game systems.
Its perfectly fine (on PS5) anyway, people are just babies and they never played the first game.
Only issue the game actually has is enemy scaling.
@@Stinkyremy horrible excuse lol
we all understand what this game is. If it's super CPU bound then they can optimize and/or take out certain things that heavily impact the CPU.
Many games have complex CPU dependant scenarios and they don't chug this bad.
It's also not perfectly fine objectively speaking because frame time exists and especially in cities, the frame times are all over the place.
No one is being a baby. You are content with being served sub optimal games. They could have delayed and optimized but they didn't. Defending it is stupid.
Can you make a video on xbox with the patch?
The RT is not worth the frame rate loss.
I though the games does not allow consoles to turn off RT , did the patch fix that ?
yup
@@Neerano Good
they could've made a performance mode for this easily. Hitting 50fps in some places with RT off and still on upscaled 4k.
yeah kinda feels like with some tweaks theres a real chance of 60fps outside Oo.
But would maybe look unsharp. also dunno what the shadows are atm, low-mid - high
Still encountering floors not rendering bug on pc after update
It seems the current generation are that fixated on graphics, that performance can get left behind. Fuck. That. Performance and actual gameplay every time.
Another 3-5 patches I might consider getting game.
With DLC and at discount* i don't hate the Game but it feels incomplete, the first game had a Lot of enemies they could have bringed back, they could add ddo enemies, but they Even removed evil eyes, the hydra, cockatrice wyverns and wyrms, Itsuno lied a Lot in the márketing, and they don't used any ideas of the cut content of the first game, kinda sad tbh but the Game is ok
@lalouwu6371 I didn't know they removed enemy's. Definitely wait a bit to buy.
If they can optimize it more the ps5 pro can possibly put this thing to 45 low and near 60 high on RT off
Why isn't the VRR Implementation in this patch 😮
This game was the last straw for me, building a pc this summer
It's ass on PC too 😭
PC is way harder to get a game working if you don't know basic IT stuff lmao
It runs like trash on a 4090. It's Capcom's fault, not consoles.
10 frames gain...now drop the resolution capcom
2k 60fps ❤
It's basically 1440p, Ps5 is 4k interlaced (half of the vertical pixel resolution basically) and upscaled.
The game is CPU-bound so dropping resolution won't really matter.
@tyler-hp7oq What determines that is it the engine or poor optimization?
Bad news for monster Hunter wilds guys it’s going to be the same engine and open world? 30fps MH is a nooooooo go for me.
Did you ever consider that perhaps the software is simply advancing faster than the hardware itself
Exactly, like the first DD game, they are way too ambitious and ahead of their times.
@@Moonwalker86 the PS3 could barely handle DD. Playing again on PC years later was an insane difference.
except this game's graphics are nothing special.
Nope. That's not what's happening. This game looks good but not that good. The game's CPU usage is so high even a 4090 gets bottlenecked
@@crestofhonor2349 I thought it was all the individual actions of the pawns, NPCS, fauna and particles that are making this game run so slow. Not the graphics.
It will be awesome if capcom adds at least a 1080p 60fps mode with FSR2
I’m torn on this, honestly. Ray tracing isn’t something I usually prioritize, but in this game I think it really adds a lot. At night especially, you just want the shadows to be really dark, completely black in some places. That said, I have to admit I’m surprised by how much higher the frame rates are with RT off. Leaning towards the cap w RT. 🤷♂️
Don’t understand why they only had what is essentially a quality mode, nobody likes to play in 4k 30 except to get screenshots or use photo mode, not to mention forced ray tracing when the normal lighting looks completely fine
Even at 1440p there will not be a significant performance increase. The game places much more emphasis on CPU performance than the GPU.
@@Ilya_Lyubarskiy It's not even full RT and turning it off increased performance by about 25%. What do you think a 1080p mode is going to do opposed to 4k upscaled. It will be a massive performance gain regardless of the cpu usage in large cities.
not massive, but theres a chance with some tweaks to reach 60 outside. @@MudShadow
@@MudShadow there is not always even a 10% increase in performance, what 25% are we talking about?
@@MudShadowNot really. Lowering the resolution to 1080p would maybe gain 5% in CPU bound areas. It's not worth the image quality loss
They should’ve put a new cpu in the PS5 pro, only having GPU boosted will maybe provide 5-9FPS boost
That won't fix the mess that this game's CPU utilization there is
@@crestofhonor2349 I mean if you throw enough horsepower at the game it runs fine
For the locked 30fps was the rt on or off?
Great question
On obviously.
Activated
That’s a good question, my guess is on. I hopeee we can lock it to 30 with rt turned off. Thats the only way that this game will be stable.
@@danquaza9275Doubt it. The frame pacing sucks
I think the game has a problem with the RE engine. It have been built for closed spaces games such as Resident evil, thanks to this closed environment, the engine is able to make disappear unused areas and assets automatically while keeping good visuals. But for DD2, the game have to show more details and wider environments so it can't fully take the benefits from the clipping feature of the engine I guess.
Should try it again with bigger battles with big enemies
Zero point in the 30fps cap because its the frame pacing that is the issue.
Yeah tbh I’ll take the uncapped for now, at least the performance outside of cities is generally ok
I think even capcom said it wouldn't help at all with frame pacing. They just put it there because there were so many people asking for it without even knowing what frame pacing is. Those people will think it's all solved lol
But definitely the best play here is still uncapped
@@rafael.afonso Users asked for more stable performances: 25~30fps is better than 25~45fps then, I guess 😌
I dont know man how can RT off barely change the frame rate can someone please explain?
This game is CPU bound, not GPU. It means that there's a lot of physics being calculated in real time, and this is done by the CPU. Graphics are not the limitation of this game. Changing resolution will make little difference. The GPU isn't maxed out. The CPU is.
Supposedly it's CPU intensive. I don't really get it myself but I'm no professional lol.
in addition to just having gpu overhead because of the really bad cpu bottleneck, this game only uses RT for global illumination. It's comparatively light compared to what something like cyberpunk is doing with it with reflections all over the place.
Because the game is cpu limited 90% of the time the only places where you will get some frames are the open areas but when combat starts or you hit the city no matter if the game is on 720p you wont get improvements because the gpu is being limited by the cpu and RT is a gpu heavy setting
How does Capcom lock the framerate but provide the most unstable frametime graph?
Must have partnered with fromsoft on this game.

Considering the resolution is stll locked in 1080p, I can assume, this is an absolute insult to players, Capcom is large company, they have the ressources to optimize their games, but they prefer to take a dump on a us, sometimes I have no choice but to agree with those using the "review bombing" to manifest their own back flame .
