@@BundyDunbar I did it like shown in the video and it's leaking. Reinstalling with the butterfly gasket over the liner now. The trick is to match the screw holes that are in the liner now.
@Royal Swimming Pools - Please redo this video showing the proper installation of the skimmer. Butterfly gasket covers BOTH the liner and pool wall. Leaking will occur if installed as shown in this video.
You should also mention that there should be at least some water in the pool before doing this, preferably half way or so. otherwise if u do this before adding any water the opening will stretch when water is pumped into the pool. liked and subbed regardless!!
I am a 44 year old woman on disability and I just put a skimmer , an upgraded jet , and a new pump on my pool by myself . And I siliconed around the new additions. If I can do it anyone can

We have the EXACT skimmer model he shows installation for and we just looked at the manual. It CLEARLY states that the rubber gasket goes over the steel wall but OVER the liner. 1. CUT LINER FIRST. 2. THEN, INSTALL GASKET OVER BOTH. Don't make our mistake-water leaked out from the inside DOWN past the liner and onto the inside of the pool wall. NOT GOOD and the very reason you're supposed to do the above. Not sure where this guy gets his training but it is OPPOSITE the actual manual for this exact skimmer. Please learn from our nightmare.

The liner is supposed to get tucked inside the butterfly gasket.
I thought the with this style and the butterfly gasket was supposed to go over the liner and pool wall. So the liner would have to be cut first.
Just did a replacement with this style. Did it like he did. No problems.

oh, you probably meant "match"
I thin film of silicone between the gasket and the pool liner will stop any leaking. I do it before I install the screws.

So no gasket between the inside skimmer plate and liner?

You should not cut the liner until after the skimmer is full installed. The liner goes between the gasket and the skimmer faceplate.

What happened to your pool? I think i found the problem with mine now. I got wrinkles everywhere. Mines installed like this.

Doesn't the water level have to be lowered for the skimmer to work from the nominal water level?
I have to replace my skimmer, question on beside the gasket. Should I use RTV or silicone. Thanks.
