    That’s really cool to fly a speedy and a mini on the same line. Very different feel I imagine, but a great piece of fabric to have in the quiver!

    Impressive glide at 1:47 to skim the flat spot on that line, regular speed wings have to trim and glide out much earlier. Like others have said it will be interesting to see how the Moustache handles rough air particularly with the brake/trim system being the way it is.

      Quite well in my opinion. But if you know it's turbulent, you shouldn't fly at all

    Did you get a feel for which arm position gives the best glide? I'm at a loss at where that would be in the range, with a weird reflex wing like this one. I have the Mirage RS+ in 13 and this video is quite impressive, considering the glide on the Mirage is already pretty amazing for a speedwing!

    • @paraglidenewengland8982
      @paraglidenewengland8982 Před rokem

      Best glide is with your hands fairly low, around the L and R tabs sewn on the risers.

    Did the mirage used the trims ??

  • @martens8244
    @martens8244 Před 2 lety +1

    I see that the trim speed of the mirage is a little higher than the trim speed of the moustash. Moustache has a better glide and a more perfect block system of risers, because of which it can accelerate when it loss height. but the level of passive safety is definitely better for a mirage

      @E620SE Před 2 lety

      Hmm I don't know. The moustache is very solid even in rougher air

  • @wild2flyparagliding160

    Not bad for a speed wing. ;)

  • @marcelolamoglia

    Could this brake system be used on xc paragliders? Does make sense?

    • @mraffifpv1685
      @mraffifpv1685 Před 2 lety +4

      probably not a very good idea, you would be flying fully accelerated when hands up, reacting to collapses now you would need to remember to not put up your hands all the was again afterwards as you might just accelerate into the next turbulence if you do. Also sometimes taking your hands of the brakes in valleycrossing for warming up your hands/taking pictures/etc. would be completely crazy with this setup (as you wouldn't even have the option to let go the speedbar with your feet)

    • @mraffifpv1685
      @mraffifpv1685 Před 2 lety +2

      maybe a short update: I've flown the 18 and 22 with a TOW of ~64kg. On the 18 the flight was very short so I can't say a lot about it, also it was the first one so I flew it mostly at full or close to full speed as I didn't brake enough (hands up just as on my xc wing) no chance to stay up. I then flew the 22 two times in maybe ~10km/h wind on a flatlands launch (Wasserkuppe in Germany (NO side)). The conditions where thermic but it was very hard to get above the launch even on a normal wing (I usually fly a C in a 20 size, before I had a B in 22). The Brakes are soft and easy enough to hold at best glide/min sink long enough (below shoulders). But the feedback is hard to understand and it turns very slow if you want to keep it betwen min sink and best glide. If you let it fly on the outside it will enter a fast turn but you loose height fast. Landing on the Slope 50m below launch was easy, either let it gain speed and flare towards the hill or pump/hold it around the stall point to decend vertical.
      Armin Harich (who started development on the Moustache and lent it to me) was able to catch a good thermal cycle few times and get high above launch but I don't think it would be easy to fly XC on it.
