    Kudos to Electrolux Canada Ltd. Its R & D produced the original automatic E-2000 and the non-automatic E-Special in 1982-the original version of the Clean-Obsessed model CO888 you've featured. Electrolux Corporation USA imported and relabeled the E-2000 as the Hi-Tech 2100 and the E-Special as the Limited Edition 2100 (later 1623) when the two companies merged in 1985. The major Canadian production ceased in 1987, and parts and printing in 1990. Btw, the earlier Electrolux model 1521s had a double clip for the small combo tool and the short crevice nozzle. Thanks for the critique & demo.

    Wow that power nozzle is quiet! I was expecting that same whiny noise from it. I think I've heard they moved to a grooved belt system but i've never heard one of the new ones.

    Nice unboxing vid. Would love to hear your follow-up thoughts after using it for a while. The machine gets mixed reviews -- some say its plastic parts break, especially at the electrical connector. Some don't like the friction fit attachments. I wonder how inconvenient the non-swivel powerhead really is. The design is decades old but it was the best of its time so how does it hold up compared to modern designs? How does it rate compared to your favorite canister vacs today?

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  Před 2 lety +2

      I think you've summed it up pretty well. The old school design has too many faults to really compare to a lot of modern machines. However if you got one of these for well below half MSRP it might be worth having. But I would never pay MSRP for this machine.

    granted, I love Electrolux and their powerhead design is very nice. However, with your experience using this powerhead, are you finding it does not agitate the carpet near as well as the new wesselwerk powerheads? I have one of the wesselwerk heads and man they are something else. its almost bad if you use one b/c it seems not much else compares.

    Iam refurbishing my 1401B electrolux power nozzle. New brush roller, I took the DC motor apart greased & used tri flow lubricant on sleeve bearings. The brushes look good, I used emery sand paper on the armature cummutatetor. The belt is still good which is believable. I looking for a brown spray paint to match the PN. Does anyone have ideas about matching paint color. I used a small canvas brush & paint thinner to clean the armature & stator. I set in front of a fan to dry. I used a multi-meter & checked winding continuity. I had to drill the head off of one of the bottom plate screws it won't take a screw driver. Then I used needle nose pliers to turn it out while opening the cover a small amount on the side of the drilled screw head. I used to work at my dad's electrical motor rebuild shop in 1981 & 82.

    How could you possibly say Electrolux “sort of dissolved”? They didn’t go anywhere, they sold their name back to Electrolux Sweden group years ago and continued on as Aerus making two of the same canister vacs with modest changes and the top of the line Platinum or something that is a joint effort with Electrolux Sweden (I think.) They still make the model that Clean Obsessed copied and rhe next step up with the tools on top as they’ve made for 35 years but they’re Aerus. My understanding is they sold the 1521 design to Perfect and the Perfect is indeed based on a 1521. I’m not exactly sure how Clean Obsessed fits in.
    It is very unfair of you to say the company that designed these is gone. I have also heard these are not anywhere near as well built as the Aerus (Electrolux) machines. Electrolux/Aerus material specs were out of this world. I hope you correct your misstatement. I’m a big fan!

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  Před 2 lety

      Read your statement it describes a company that's been dissolved.
      We no longer get real Electrolux in this country. Aerus is not producing canisters as a moment. Check their website for details last time they didn't have any vacuum cleaners up there. Yes edmar is producing stuff in China under various names. But we don't get any swedish "Electrolux" products

    • @Channel-cm7yc
      @Channel-cm7yc Před rokem

      The Aerus lux platinum is made in Germany. The lesser canisters are still the venerable Canadian built plastic models from Aerus that have been around for decades with very little in external changes except color schemes mostly. Updated vacuum motors yes. There is nothing in relation to Electrolux of Sweden and Aerus in the states! Aerus is still the same basic company that it was under the Electrolux name.

    • @philsalvatore3902
      @philsalvatore3902 Před rokem

      @@Channel-cm7yc The Guardian Platinum is the same as the Lux Intelligence. They are made by Kolektor in Slovenia. The Electolux Group sold off Lux International in 2009. Vorwerk bought their Asia Pacific business and sells top of the line Vorwerk vacuums in Japan, New Zealand, Australia and elsewhere in the region with Lux Branding. I have a Vorwerk Tiger 260 that is branded as a Lux Sora I bought in Japan. Weirdest looking vacuum on the planet but surprisingly functional. Some Swiss investors bought the European side of Lux International but went bust and ended up selling it to Eureka-Forbes of India in 2011. In Australia and New Zealand a company called Sauber sells the Intelligence. Vorwerk Japan still provides parts and service for old Lux models in Japan.
      The Lux Intelligence, what we know here as the Guardian Platinum, is the first Lux International vacuum not made by the Electrolux Group of Sweden and the quality is just not there. Even in Europe the Lux dealers swear at them. They are nowhere near as good as the silent and powerful D820 or the old hairy chested D795.
