    We put these two popular canister vacuums up, in a head to head battle for suction supremacy. We tested for suction, head design, pickup performance on carpet and hardwood. We look at the tools they come with and look at overall value.

    Just got the 600 series. I love it, even if it is more expensive. I have 2 pets inside, so that pet powermate will definitely come in handy

    My Kenmore powermate lasted over 30 years. cleaned worse farm dirt. accidently went into deep end of pool. dried out and went back to work good as ever. Thinking of one of these as a replacement but are they as good as my old powermate?

    • @vacuumnerds
      @vacuumnerds  Před 13 dny

      30 year? WOW! I doubt you'll get 30 years from these, but the 600 seems as well built as my early 2006 model. Only time will tell. I think if you want long term reliability, and are willing to pay 3X the Kenmore, you are looking at a Miele.

    I liked the Kenmore canisters of the past... I had several of them....I can't speak for current versions...here were the issues I had with them: After about 2 years... the quick disconnect wand/handle would short out....give or take 2 years... every time without fail it would eventually happen... another thing... the bags don't have a gasket...so dust would leak from the bag into the bag chamber.... and the vacuums were not sealed.. .meaning there is a HEPA filter, but the exhausted air goes out different places....through the HEPA....out through the cord area or wheels...so the HEPA filter was pretty useless...again... these might have changed....but they really look like the same design to me.

      @vacuumnerds  Před měsícem

      I can confirm the new models have a very good seal. My 20 year old one did too. Sorry, I'm not too familar with model between these periods.

      @@vacuumnerds Right but I'm talking about the way the bag slides onto the collar.... instead of having a gasket on the bag opening...Kenmores have a built in gasket... what would happen is it never made a super tight seal... so matter how good the bags you were using... there would inevitably be dust in the bag chamber itself because of that gasket... that's what I was talking about... If someone is using a HEPA bag the bag chamber itself should stay spotless with no visible dust.... that was what I was wondering about... thanks

    Seems the 600 is better to move up the stairs, wheres the carry handle on the 200 canister. How much would you have to pay for the motorized pet attachment? Since I've been using my Kenmore Whispertone 12.0 Amp since 1995, I think about 30 years of use the extra hose length, pet power head alone is worth the price difference. However I'm not counting on 30 years as nothing is build to last today. Actually I would n't be getting rid of my vacuum but it needs a new brush, new hose (lots of duct tape now), and the vacuum adjustment ring broke off so it's permanently taped over... so it's not worth putting money into it especially as it's not a hepa filter canister. Thanks for the review.

      Glad this helped. The 600 is my pick overall because it has a handle and a few more features.

    These are not the Kenmore you would have bought ten years ago. The Kenmore that were reliable are made by Panasonic. Panasonic no longer produces vacuums for the US market. These are cheap copies produced by Cleva. Don’t expect these to go more than a few years without issues. My ten year old Kenmore still works great and the only repair was for the cord winder.

    • @vacuumnerds
      @vacuumnerds  Před 2 měsíci

      They are still highly rated by consumer reports for reliability. I can’t test long term reliability, but they seem very well built. Have you got personal experience with the new ones?

    • @J-nj8uv
      @J-nj8uv Před 2 měsíci

      @@vacuumnerds No, I upgraded to Miele.

    • @One-Day-After-Another

      I had several Panasonic made Kenmore canisters in the past... and they were NOT reliable...the quick disconnect wouild ultimately always short out...either on the handle or wand that goes to power nozzle...and even worse... there's no gasket on the bags...so the bag dirt being sucked up with not all go into the bag... fine dust would always end up in the bag chamber... even when using HEPA bags... These are made by Cleva I believe now... but they still look like the exact same design...
