    Nice video and well explained too , there very little difference with the grand piano voice ... Simply because the Yamaha grand piano voice is one of the best grand piano of any keyboard on the market ,
    There very little difference between the 900 and 700 for sounds and sound quality ... The best thing I like about these keywords is the expansion memory... This opens up the possibilities of keyboards.. plus using a laptop all three keyboards can sound as good as the Geno's ... Thumbs up for this video 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

  • @keanuman1
    @keanuman1 Před 2 lety +5

    So far, so good, I've discovered and tested it out. The SX900 is more expensive than the other old PSR S series and the other 2 (SX 700 and SX 600). But, you've got 90% of all the voices from Genos, which is a TOTL arranger keyboard. For professional sounding and studio-ready arranger keyboard, SX 900 is the winner. The SX 700 and SX 600 are not professional sounding voices and are still the same as the old PSR S series. I hate the SX 600 because there is no touch screen and a bulky design.

    I have tried the SX600 for a month. It is quite a good arranger keyboard. However, if you are looking for sound quality and keybed quality, this one is not the choice. I ended up returning this SX600 to the store.
    I will go for best sound quality , i.e., SX900 or GENOS. The SX900 is more portable but does not look as impressive as the GENOS which has an impressive price too !!!

    The SX600 sounds more like the SX900 than the SX700 does. The styles and sounds in the lower end keyboard sound better than the middle one. I guess they compensated for the lack of features on the physical device. The 600 doesn’t have the bigger screen and speakers and other buttons are missing but the sounds might make up for that if that is what is important to you. I ordered the 900 but I have been waiting for months. Supposed to ship this month hopefully. Also, thanks fir the video! I enjoy hearing the thoughts and opinions about theses keyboards. Tx4sharing this video. I will go with sx600. As a beginner, the touchscreen and better quality of speakers is not of great importance to me and i liked the sound of sx600 vs the other two which are way more expensive. I came from a tyros1&2 so sx600 looks quite impressive and almost similar in sound quality. Chords loop function on sx900 could come in handy especially for me as a beginner but again....the price.
    Q: can i import the synthpopduo style from sx900 to sx600? Will it sound similar? Can you do a video showing the quality of missing styles of higher tier ones on lower tier's? That would be interesting i guess. Voices sound similar?can you do a tutorial with a comparison between those three mainly for voice samples differences?

    Hi mate, nice review :) Greeting from Malaysia.
    I've just purchased PSR SX700, and it is fantastic :) I am a Electone (Yamaha's Organ) player, i own few Electone model with different Keyboard technology before, the EL700 with FS-key (weighted key), EL900m with FSV-key (weighted+horizontal touch key), DDK-7 with FS-key (weighted key) and now the ELC-02 with FS-key (similar like EL700 but with some improvement).
    The FSB keyboard in PSR SX700 feel less weighted than above Electone, but way better than my many years ago PSR S770 (which i sold it due to upgrade the Electone to ELC-02), the keybed now feel way more stable and silent, and the rattling noise is gone. There has some "soft feeling" even hit it hard, which is similar like Electone, so i can confirmed Yamaha put an very high quality on the SX model.
    Just that, without weighted key, it might take some minutes to adjust and you will be fine after that.
    May i know any huge different with the internal speaker between SX700 and 900 ? thank you.

    • @christoph_fer
      @christoph_fer Před 3 lety +3

      With the SX700 the only major thing you must be missing out on is the Genos Revo drum samples on the SX900 and some of the Genos Guitar Mega voices and DSP effects which make a huge difference in style and the SX900 also has an additional dedicated -sub- woofer (+10W x2) in its internal speakers. But, unless you don't personally hear them both, you probably will be happy with the SX700 but once you hear the SX900 and have the taste, there's no going back.

    • @ConsciousKeys
      @ConsciousKeys  Před 3 lety +2

      The PSRSX900 definitely benefits from a better speaker system and side by side there is a clear difference. That said, the SX700 speakers are still great!

    • @bryangl1
      @bryangl1 Před 3 lety +2

      @@christoph_fer Not a sub-woofer, just a woofer (bass speaker). Sub-woofers are for going down to frequencies like 20Hz. But the speakers in the 900 are just about as good as you are likely to get with built-in speakers, being practically impossible to get very much better - it's a matter of physics, acoustics, weight, size and cost. I use a pair of good powered speakers with my 900 but that's another thousand bucks (and quite a lot of kilos).

    • @bryangl1
      @bryangl1 Před 3 lety

      N.B. None of these keyboards have weighted (piano action) keys, although the new 88-note DGX-670 does and offers real competition to the 600. These all have sprung actions although (at least on my 900) pleasant to play. Electones are electronic organs and as such didn't have weighted key actions. Weighted key actions are piano-type actions which offer no benefit to an organ so not used.

    • @christoph_fer
      @christoph_fer Před 3 lety

      @@bryangl1 yea my bad those are woofers not subwoofers but still much better than the SX700 for those who can notice. I agree those speakers aren't excellent. I myself bought myself a KS-SW100 subwoofer to add that much needed low frequency thumps.

  • @KibbleDog007
    @KibbleDog007 Před 5 měsíci

    Enjoyed the Demo. However the 900 has 15+10 watts per side - the tweeter and woofer are bi-amped. To really tell the difference in tone, you need to use the same set of external speakers like the 5 or 8 inch Yamaha studio monitors. Else, we are hearing the same arrangements from 3 different speaker systems. The bias favours the higher end units. However, that is how they would sound as stand alone units, if that was your intention.

    • @ConsciousKeys
      @ConsciousKeys  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment.
      All 3 of these keyboards were plugged in to the same audio interface using jack to jack. Then, those 3 keyboards are captured over the same USB interface to a computer. You are correct in what you say about the 3 having different speakers and therefore, different tone. Thats something that could be compared in a store when considering a purchase.

      There are more possible reasons, all the keyboards are digital, the digital signals are converted to analogue signal using a sound card/audio interface which is built in to the keyboard. The sound cards may be different in both keyboards, that may the reason.
      We can record as (.wav) files in the keyboard, if we are doing like that then it will sounds same.
      I have a Yamaha MODX, Yamaha is telling that all the sounds are same in these keyboards, when professionals compared, they found difference, because of these converter’s quality.

      @@ConsciousKeys I had the "mono feeling" just listening with headphones, I feel a lot of space with 900 and 600, but 700 seems to have all instruments merged into my head, like mono signal

      @@FMSoundtracks same here, the 900 sounds a bit fuller/warmer with a bit more dimension
      after this review i am thinking to go for a sx900, however as an upgrade from a psr 463 the SX700 would be great also.........hmmmm difficult

      I agree, the 900 and 600 are in stereo, but the 700 is in (double) mono. If you listen to the three Strings demos in this video it's quite obvious. Somewhere in the whole process the stereo of the 700 got lost.
      It makes the 600 sound a lot better than the 700 in this video, which I'm sure in real life isn't the case.

    If u already have a Genos/Tyros5, don't buy Sx600 as here pointed out. Buy a good budget synthesizer like Roland Juno DS, Yamaha ModX, or Korg Kross 2. If u have more budget, try the Korg Nautilus. It's an awesome keyboard for voices, especially in areas where Genos lacks. With this combo, ur gig performance will be awesome.
