"The Majin Buu Saga (魔人ブウ編, Majin Bū Hen, lit. "Majin Boo Arc") is the fourth major plot arc from the Dragon Ball Z series. The manga volume that it is made up of is "Boo Unleashed". In the Funimation dub's naming conventions for the English language release of the anime, the Majin Buu Saga is broken up into six sub-sagas: the Great Saiyaman Saga, the World Tournament Saga, the Babidi Saga, the Majin Buu Saga, the Fusion Saga, and the Kid Buu Saga."

I didn't realize this until recently but gray Buu is supposed to be representative of old gum that turns gray. He's also the older version of the original Buu, thus the old gum analogy.

fun fact that moment when buu killed everyone on earth was orginally supposed to be much bloodier in the manga after buu's attack we were supposed to be treated to a scene of city's being covered in blood to indicate that everyone was dead but toriyama thought that was too dark so he left that detail out

As divisive as the Buu Saga is, I have to say one of the greatest feats that Akira did with this arc didn't come in the form of Ultimate Gohan, the introduction of the Fusion Dance, Super Saiyan 3 or even Vegito; my favorite part of the Buu Saga is the fact that he actually got me to care about Mr. Satan as a character!
its hard introducing new characters late in the series but he did i well with Hercule and videl, to bad the arc just falls flat with a weak villain and dumb transformations.
@@tonyt3955555honestly Buu himself is far from the problem with this saga. He was consistently (or mostly) entertaining for me. Just pure unpredictable evil. The only time I got tired of him is when he absorbed the Z fighters and become a generic Perfect Cell clone.
Luckily Kid Buu made things more interesting again

@@dariusausama9344 yea that's the thing about toriyama's writing buu didn't look threatening and even acted like a goof but we had to be reminded that this was our main villain of the arc and when buu finally looked like he was turning over a new leaf toriyama had to not only find a way to make buu evil again but really rub in the fact this thing wasn't fucking around and what better way to do that then to kill off the whole earth near the end of this arc ironically enough goku was one of the only three survivors
Childhood really is disliking Hercule for being a bozo, and adulthood is learning to love his authentic loserdom that can melt the heart of a monster like Buu.
The difference between Buu and Zamasu:
Zamasu took forever to squad wipe.
Super Buu commited genocide in records time flat.

DBZ really found a way to legitimately be frightening. Buu does so many things that would be downright horrific. No other villain has come close to the things he has done imo.

Been waiting for this one, cause the scene where the dog and Hercule get SHOT had me twisted man. I do not remember seeing that as a kid and it totally took me off guard in my recent rewatch. That was totally brutal, and the resulting pure evil Buu is a disgusting manifestation. Then, super buu is literally a fucking _demon_ . It gets dark from here on. Some of the best Z moments ever coming up next.

Although the Buu saga will always be my least favorite of all DB sagas, is still an amazing piece of GENIUS story telling by master Toriyama, that raise above may shounen animes of that time or even today.....Buu sudden turn to good was a genius move that actually not only developed him but Mr. Satan as well as a true no joke hero, he actually SAVED THE WORLD if not wasn't for those scumbags losers, all was going to be alright, and pure evil Buu was a MENACE man, that shocking move when he raised his hand and literally kill HUMANITY, was such a cold, collective menace of a move no one saw coming, my jaw was on the floor after that one, Buu instantly became one of my top favorite villains that moment, to this day still one of the best moments in DBZ and DB in general, Toriyama sensei was cooking so good man, even in his goofiest saga, still the man could make such a terrified villain in Buu.

Buu is split into his original evil self and the Buu that absorbed the Grand Kami and absorbed his kindness. The evil one was able to beat that Kami initially so he was always going to win.
