Not exactly acurate in some cases thoroughbreds race over 2 miles, In Australia the most famous race is 2 miles and derby's are around a mile and a half. In UK and Europe some races tend to be longer
Actually quarter horses are faster, they hit top speeds of 50 miles per hour but can only hold that speed for a quarter mile then they slow down, that's why they are used in barrel racing and pole bending because they get the fastest times for those events. Thoroughbreds have a decent speed with stamina, they reach speeds between 40 and 44 miles per hour and can hold it for 3/4 of a mile to even 1 and a half miles. Quarter horses and faster but Thoroughbreds have a good speed and stamina.

Well obviously a Thoroughbred
I find QH tend to be more level headed and not as high strung.
Quarters are faster but only in short bursts, that why they arent the best racing horses or endurance
Quarter horses short distance, Thoroughbred mid, Arabian long
