i make the oil with cayenne pepper and add some peppermint drop for my neck and headache .i can tell you i dnt drink pills anymore
I’m a new subscriber and I want to thank you so very much. ALL your videos have been so informative and helpful. I have learned so much and have started to binge watch while making things. I am grateful I found your channel.💐
I make a cayenne oil and use it to saute vegetables and once in a while I still fry chicken for my family, when I do I add just a touch of my pepper oil to the frying oil and it adds that extra kick of flavor to my chicken. I have recently had the need for a muscle rub and am happy to know you have a video about that. I don't comment often at all but am so appreciative of you and your videos. Thank you and God bless :)
Thank you Cindy!
Great idea! Thank you!
Spicy chicken is always good
Think that's a great idea. Just made your lip balm yesterday and I love it.Thank you so much for all of your hard work.
Great recipe! Will be making this soon! Had been using essential oils in coconut oil as a joint rub. Your recipe sounds like it will work better. Thank you for sharing!
Thankyou Hidy!! I have a dog with a Torn ligament on his leg I'm going to make your joint medicine for him and I did not know how to Infuse, but now I do!
Thank you for all the videos
I have some dehydrated cayenne peppers from last years garden. I'll have to make some of this!
Also I got natural curly hair and I'm letting my gray come out yours looks great
Thank you ever so! Your much appreciated!
Great idea, never thought to make this. I have a lot of nerve pain I wonder if it will work on that as well. God bless!
Always interesting and informative. Thank you, Heidi. 😃
Thank you Rhonda! Also, thanks for your order, I will be getting that out to you today :D
I'll be attempting this with Reaper soon.
Thank you for all your video's. They are wonderful!! I used your link to order the strainers.
Thank you!
Thank you so much and yes god is good
Great information. I'm going to try this.
You are right, the flakes are easily strained.. However, I also like the ground cayenne pepper.. I hate to throw any thing away... So I do not..When it comes to the thick set pepper at the bottom. You can use a small amount of it in your cooking.. (like a paste) but be careful as it is condensed..
However, I started using mine added with equal amounts of turmeric.. (and there is always oil left in there so I don't strain as good as I might if I were not using it, or you can add coconut oil ) and I mix it well.. I use this for many things, but it is my go to when I get a bee sting. I am allergic, and so it can be as big as a grapefruit just reaching the house.... but putting this on the sting helps to nutrilize it some, and stop it from spreading further. It is the best thing topically I have used for this. Might even reduce my reaction time by a day.. (compared to 3 miserible days) I use it for any kinds of bites or itchy spots, and you can still use it for amazing muscle rubs.. Beware tho-It will stain.. But so worth it to me. This is so amazing to use such an effective pain reliever-why were we ever enticed to use anything else? Great video Heidi.. Thank you :)
This is great info, sorry it took me so long to reply, I wanted to come back and finish reading it, I was rushed the other day, haha!
I'll have to try this!
Love your channel!
Well now I have cayenne peppers that I grew in my garden and was like what am I going to do with them. We aren't super spicey people lol. Now I know! Thanks Heidi😊
O good! :D
Thank you, again! I have it in alcohol, made it about four years ago. I'll try it in oil as good winter ointment. :-)
Thank you, you do inspire. I remember plies. I vaguely remember, having to keep my back straight (not squat), whole foot on the ground, toes out, and then without the bar. Many of us had a tough time with that. She would stop the routine until it was beautiful, and it was. :-) Thanks for the memories.
Yep, toes out because the whole leg is turned out, the heels in most grand plies are allowed to come up once you pass the demi plie position. Second position grand plies, the heels do stay on the ground. Talking about it makes me miss it, I think I need to start making time to at least do some barre work again!
@@RainCountryHomestead It can only be good for us!
Can't use any alcohol around anyone that has seizures. It is a trigger. As is camphor, eucalyptus, (Vicks or tiger balm), fennel, watermelon, & spike lavender...
I clean wine bottles or gallon jugs with a little soapy water with dab of bleach and add about 1/2 to 1 cup of aquarium gravel, and shake it around well.
Yeah I use cayenne pepper with mine
I’ll be making this for my pain infused oil
Here is my updated recipe for the oil though I know also use about i part castor oil to 3 parts avocado: czcams.com/video/oDZCAXxH4U8/video.html
I added red pepper flakes to my last batch of comfrey salve . ❤
I now blend them all together along with arnica and more: czcams.com/video/oDZCAXxH4U8/video.html
I also now use a blend of castor oil and avocado oil in the infusion: czcams.com/users/shortsytDA8C6HpX0
I used the seeds from my jalapeños, need to look but it should be close to 2 mos now; it's only lightly colored, but I'll see how it works on my hair.
And I made those darn cowboy cookies again, they are so good!!!! Even with less than half of the sugar 😊
That is what I should do this week, is make some cookies too! Always good to have a mix of goodies for the big family meal :D
@@RainCountryHomestead only my cookies are not for a big family meal LOL
This suddenly appeared on my feed even though I've seen it before. It must be getting more views! Last summer, it was so hot, I put cayenne pepper in coconut oil in a pint jar and just set it out in the sun all day. I used on my feet for diabetic itch (that's normally so bad I can't sleep). I still have most of it, and for a pleasant surprise it has very preventative qualities for that type of itch. Just don't do what I've done a couple times and accidentally rubbed my eyes after rubbing it on my feet lol.
I do that every single time it seems! haha
Do you sell the hair growth oil? My mom had cancer / chemo so now she’s growing everything back. I could totally use some muscle rub oil. I’ll have to buy these from you or make them. Thank you for these awesome videos. You’re my all time favorite CZcams channel.
While I do sell my skin cream, I do not sell the infused oils, the hair oil, or the muscle rub, sorry! The recipes are out there though :)
Im going to try and make a shampoo bar or soap with this for my husband. Hes worried about going bald lol. Thanks for the video
Did it work?
Love your videos. You explain the recipes so well. Can Chopped garlic be added to the pepper infused oil for cooking?
Only if you dry it first. Only dried goods should be used when infusing oils
How do you apply red pepper flake oil mix to hair and how long to you leave on before you shampoo
wow....I am definitely going to make that for aches and pains...Thanks for sharing...blessings..MINDY
Hello ma’am, I’m trying to learn more about her a and flowers to start growing. Any books or sites that would be a good jumping off point? Thank you so much for your time!
I have a whole series of video profiles about different herbs with more still to come. I mostly focus on those I already grow and use on a regular basis. czcams.com/video/3LdaWf83bEY/video.html
The best book I recommend is Amy Fewell's, you can find it right here: amzn.to/2qElaer
I have arthritis in my knees I had surgery on 1 knee
Amazon doesn't put many commercial on your channel I noticed
how do you keep it from becoming rancid? I would like to use it for cooking and storing. thanks love the channel
If you use avocado or another heat stable oil, it should not go rancid. The only time an infused oil went rancid on me was when I used olive oil and infused it in my greenhouse. Olive oil is not heat stable.
Hi Heidi, hope you and Patrick are well. Thank you so much for making these videos as they have been so helpful. I've been binge watching them all as they are so interesting. I have a question i hope you can help me with, i made a strong infusion with shop bought ground capsaicin pepper and hot chilli flakes, i made the infusion half pepper and half avocado oil and let infuse for 2 months, the infusion was very dark red but i put some on my skin before making the salve and there was no heat. i am trying to make for old shoulder injury and arthritis. I also have fibromyalgia. I would be very grateful if you could please let me know what you think. Thank you. X
Some may not notice any or little warmth from the oil. A lot of it depends on sensitivity. This is why the pepper to me is only a base but now I do not make the pepper infused oil alone, I make two different versions where I add other herbs. One for hair growth: czcams.com/video/G6zTFttT8EI/video.html
one for joint and muscle rub: czcams.com/video/oDZCAXxH4U8/video.html
and then if you want to add more of a boost to the joint and muscle rub, you can add essential oils like I did here: czcams.com/video/5yrNGcgeMDE/video.html
@@RainCountryHomestead Thanks Heidi, i appreciate the quick reply. I will watch those videos.
Heidi, first, thank you for your incredibly detailed instructions. I
want to ask regarding the infused pepper oil, is there a faster way of
getting the oil infused than waiting 2 months? How about a stove top
slow heat? Would that work?
Yes, you can do that but then you risk destroying some of the benefits. For example, vitamin C, which is one of the many nutrients in red pepper, is heat sensitive and can be destroyed in a process like that. You can keep the oil in a warmer area like I do and it should be fine and just test it every so often to see how it feels on the skin
I think it’d be fine on a hand towel or wash cloth in a slow cooker filled 1/2 way up the jar(s) with water, on ‘warm’ with the lid off. I’d let it go 24 hrs or so. 👍🏼
I’m going to assume you use the pepper oil before you shampoo. Do you put it on your dry scalp or wet? How long do you let it sit before you shampoo? You’re always so kind answering my dumb questions. Thank you.
I massage into the scalp right after washing my hair and leave. Here is my most recent infused oil recipe for using this way: czcams.com/video/G6zTFttT8EI/video.html
I have a dehydrated pepper mix I made, cayenne, jalapeno, pablano and a few others. Does the type of pepper matter? Any reason not to use the mix?
I personally do not think it matters but I am sure each pepper will have their own unique benefits as well.
what do you use for your skin its so clear and shiny. please let me know, thank you
I cover it here: czcams.com/video/wfBOPlzSujE/video.html
For pain, do you notice a difference between using Avocado oil and using Castor oil and Cayenne?
I would not infuse castor oil alone, I would still dilute it with avocado so that it infuses better but yes, castor oil is a good option for any muscle and joint rub and why I now add it into my blend, which is far more than just red pepper flakes: czcams.com/video/oDZCAXxH4U8/video.html
and here is where I talk about adding castor oil: czcams.com/video/ytDA8C6HpX0/video.html
Do you know if it is ok to eat the seeds of sweet peppers. I wanted to dry them then grind some to add to some dishes. They have lots of good properties but, they have tannins too. Do you know how much is too much. Cant seem to find this info
Yes, I always leave the seeds. Black and green tea of tannins too but people drink those daily. It is hardly an issue when cooking anyway
@@RainCountryHomestead Thats what I was thinking, I had people telling me not to that it was dangerous!, lol! They sell hot pepper seeds to add to dishes. People are getting so mislead. The lady was trying to tell me that oregano was toxic. Lol! Then I should have been dead along time ago. I LOVE MY HERBS! They have got this family thru alot of sickiness. LORD HELP THIS COUNTRY!
How'd you go off thyroid meds? That's what I'm really want gvto do. But I've not learned yet how to go natural.
czcams.com/video/toj7Sh4vNGY/video.html
Your eggs look good
When you say red peppers is that chilies or capsicum’s
Did you say what kind of peppers you used (the red flakes)? I watched twice and didn’t catch it. Hot peppers? I ask because I grew fish peppers and Aleppo peppers this years and am wondering if they’d have the same effect as far as muscle rub goes.
As long as they are a hot pepper, yes. :)
I guess I did not think to specify that the red pepper flakes were hot because I have never seen them in any other form.
I didn’t know if they were homegrown or store bought. I figured they were hot but I didn’t know if there was a specific variety...
Do you think ghost peppers be too hot to use for a pain salve?
It is likely they may be, I have heard they are pretty hot and I know that very hot peppers can actually burn the skin
I want to use whole dried cayenne peppers to make infused oil because I have a boatload of them. Do I need to break them up first? Or just use whole?
Breaking them up some will give you a better infusion
@@RainCountryHomestead Wow you are fast. Thank you. It's on my list for today along with enchilada sauce to can.
I just found this video last week, ordered some supplies off Amazon and I am ready to make this red pepper oil. I was wondering if in addition to the oil and red pepper flakes; can I also infuse comfrey with it. I am hoping for heat and healing all in one (painful shoulder). By the way I am also on thyroid meds and wondering if this is related to it. Anyway, glad I found your videos!
Absolutely, in fact tI did an updated video of an infusion specifically for muscle rub where I added comfrey leaves and arnica flowers. Next time I will also add dried peppermint and then not add peppermint essential oil or maybe no essential oil to the finished blend. I found that the oil works well without those additions: czcams.com/video/JksJA5XGZ0I/video.html
@@RainCountryHomestead Th;ank you, I just found that video and was watching when you replied! Question what are the first 3 oils you used? One was peppermint but you never said the fist 2...
@@joannegerrard9414 I believe I added it in text in a pinned comment as I had simply forgot to actually say it and then did not catch it when I was editing. If I remember, it was the clove oil I had forgotten to say and I am sure I did say the other one was eucalyptus
@@RainCountryHomestead Thanks for follow up replies. Have a good day. Sorry if I woke you, I am in Scotland, forgot about time difference.
@@joannegerrard9414 Nope, did not wake me, I have been up since 4:30 am my time (so an hour and a half now)
Is your Costco still carrying that type of oil? Mine in Michigan has changed brands. The new brand does not say organic anymore.
I do not recall this brand ever saying it was organic but when it comes to avocados, I do not find that as much as a concern.
Elaine, you can check the EWG.org site for their Clean Fifteen and Dirty Dozen fruits and vegetables. Avocados are actually rated as the least likely to have pesticides, so if organic isn’t available, it’s not as big a deal as say, if you’re buying strawberries (the worst). Hope that helps.
Would adding castor oil to the muscle rub make it absorb deeper into the muscle?
Turpentine would be a better option for that. I have added a bit of turpentine to my muscle and joint rub for that very purpose
@@RainCountryHomestead oh okay. Thanks
That's a good idea I had learned about turpentine. But was a little unsure to use it. Thank you so much
Heidi, this is very cool tip. So 2 months and other question. For what you use it that oil? For Muscel pain and for what else? I didnt understant when you said it in Video. Maybe i missed. Very cool video 👌👍💌🙋♀️
For a scalp treatment to help with hair growth. The video for that is linked in the description box and in the iCards
Heidi,
I am going to have to make this for Rick the pepper oil, he likes HOT stuff and I mean Hot.. It will be good when I am cooking his eggs in the morning.
That sound good! I may have to try cooking some eggs in my pepper oil
What other essential oils do you add to it?
It depends on what I am using it for, a hair growth oil: czcams.com/video/G6zTFttT8EI/video.html
or a muscle and joint rub: czcams.com/video/5yrNGcgeMDE/video.html
Though now I am using more herbs in the infusion and less essential oils to cut the cost: czcams.com/video/oDZCAXxH4U8/video.html
How do you get your stickers off your bottle
There are several ways depending on the sticker or label, I will be covering these in a video soon
Hi, how does the oil feel on skin? Is it really hot?
It is warming but not burning
@@RainCountryHomestead thank you
You’re such a beautiful woman. Going now to watch the video. 🌹
New Subby!
Yikes, I use extra Virgin cold pressed olive oil...😵
Can you use habanero peppers?
Any hot peppers
@@RainCountryHomestead quick question... Do you think it's safe to use on the scalp with the habaneros?
@@DauidaYah Since I have never tried it, I cannot say. It really will just depend on how hot the oil turns out
What's the shelf life?
I would say indefinite if using a good shelf stable oil like I do. I have never had an infused oil spoil on me and they can sometimes take me years to work through
I just made this how long till oil is infused?
I infused all my oils for a minimum of two months in a warm area
@@RainCountryHomestead thank you I thought so but I wanted to be sure. Thank you Heidi!
I know you're saying red peppers but what kind of peppers do you use red bell peppers? Are red bell peppers? Are they cayenne peppers? Any kind of red pepper?
I think red pepper flakes are made from cyanne
HOT peppers, they must be a spicy pepper.
@@RainCountryHomestead ok I have Christmas peppers i was thinking about using.
LOL, now I see the answer!
Can I infuse fresh peppers? I have loads growing in my polytunnel, and I don't have a dehydrator.
Not in oil, no, they must be dried first but you do not need a dehydrator to dry. I often try my peppers naturally
@@RainCountryHomestead thank you! Can you tell me please, does cayenne have the same qualities when still green? Most of mine are greeb, and it's getting cold outside. Not sure they'll turn red.
I'm trying to ask a question, and someone else's comment pops up in it's place so I just delete my comment.
My question is I started a fresh pepper infusion 3 days ago, I had added 1/4 tsp salt to it. Now it's starting to ferment. Bubbling. Should I toss this out and start over with no salt added?
Are you infusing oil or water? I personally never add salt to my oil infusions
@@RainCountryHomestead I'm infusing oil. First time trying. After adding the salt, I thought I had messed up but just went with it to see what happens. Well it started fermenting and I don't think it's supposed to do that.
I did not realize one could ferment oil. That is interesting. I would just wait and see what happens out of curiosity but you could likely use it in cooking.
@@RainCountryHomestead I will, I have one hot pepper and one sweet pepper. Was planning on using for cooking and skin. But with it fermenting if it do go bad I'll stick with the cooking part. The hot pepper fermented fast, the sweet peppers are slow.
the government is making more rules and takes effect on Jan 1st.

I am not seeing a video link but if it is about COPPA, I already know all about that, or at least as much as us creators CAN know based on the vague rules they have laid out
@@RainCountryHomestead It was about COPPA, Glad you know. sorry I messed up on the link. very vague.
When people say "I eye ball, I just throw it together" is pretty pathetic. It takes seconds to open a cabinet, pick up a 'dry" measuring cup & measure.
Why is it pathetic when I have a good idea of what I need without a measuring cup? I would not call you parhelic for your reliance on measuring devices. I hardly even use them when cooking and baking because I just know what things are supposed to look and feel like only because I have been doing it for so long. So what you are saying is that my experience makes me pathetic...which seems pretty pathetic
People who know their way around the kitchen typically eye ball and things come together great. Also, instead of wasting your time leaving a rude comment, you can find a video of someone who uses measuring cups.
I wouldn’t say ‘pathetic’ but I measure *everything* I cook or concoct so that I get consistent results every time. 😁
My mother never measured anything, she just knew by sight (eye balling) how much of an ingredient she needed. Thank you Heidi for all your videos. My sister made a batch of your powder deodorant and it’s awesome. I made a batch of your honey infused garlic and added ginger to mine. God bless and have a great day!
