I’m on the 88 and never had an issue. The problem here is the really tight turning. If my tow setup is more than a 45 degree on terrain like this or worse, I’ll reset. If I need a toght turn to pull from, I’ll just use the v chain to get the vehicle straight. It’s more stuff to hook up but I’m not damaging equipment or personnel. I’ve been doing it for 7+ years and I’ve done all sorts of recoveries and not a single tow bar has been broken. I also have my welder put extra welds on all my tow vars

I deal with a m88 here in Greece occasionally. How could I ask you some questions about it since I have no operation manual to study ??

Bruh….where was the break 88? The amount of torque on that tow bar/tow Pintle is unbelievable. 70 ton 88A2 + 70 ton M1 + gravity = a soup sandwich waiting to get ate up. One of the first things taught in GMD is to reconnoiter your situation first and in cases like this ALWAYS have a break vehicle (preferably another 88 but at least another tank) And BTW I’m a 13 year 63EH8K4 so yes I know what the hell I’m talking about.

The A2C is 83 tons with full protection. This tank supposedly gets 13 hours on full fuel when surveilling on idle. The APU workaround is unreliable and looks totally unprotected from the abundant shrapnel and spall that even light mortar and grenade fire produces. I am furious that my government would betray me by acquiring this tank.

I dont know much about the A2C,but far as the m88 recovery vehicle, it's twice the thickness ,of regular tanks ,had to be,it pulled tanks from the front line back to the rear for repairs ,pictures do not do it justice ,it's when you walk up to it is when you are very intimidated, by it ,had the joy of working with the m88 when it came into the unit ,Hercules, name fits 😎👍🫡🇺🇸
