Here are the lyrics spoken by the boy:
“I live no more to shame, nor me, nor you
    I'm sorry”
"If you read this line, remember not the hand that wrote it
Remember only the verse, songmaker's cry the one without tears
For I've given this its strength and it has become my only strength.
Comforting home, mother's lap, chance for immortality
Where being wanted became a thrill I never knew
The sweet piano writing down my life"
"Teach me passion for I fear it's gone
Show me love, hold the lorn
So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me
    I'm sorry
Time will tell (this bitter farewell)
I live no more to shame nor me nor you
And you... I wish I didn't feel for you anymore..."
"So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me
    Time will tell"

This is a very emotional and personal song for Tuomas. The small child's voice represents Tuomas' inner child speaking.
When asked what this song was about "Tuomas has said about this song, that it's about if he were to die tomorrow, what would he want to say to everyone that he loves, and that love him..."
Notice the small boy on the screen reaching out to the flying swans on the screen. He is reaching out to implore them to take him with to the other side.
In archaeological excavations done in Karelia, a child was found and its body was laying upon a wing of a swan. In Finnish mythology and folklore, the swan was the divine messenger between the living and the dead. When a swan dropped its head below the surface, people of old times believed that it was communicating to the spirit world.
Killing swans was a terrible crime because it was as bad as murdering a human. Punishments for killing swans were severe, the usual penalty was death.
Swan song often symbolizes an artist´s last performance but for a long time all across the world all the way to the 17th century it was believed that swans only sang when they died.
A beautiful song filled with sadness from an unfulfilled destiny.
Here are the spoken words from Dead Boy's Poem.
    "If you read this line
Remember not the hand that wrote it
    Remember only the verse
Songmaker's cry, the one without tears
For I've given this its strength
And it has become my only strength
Comforting home, mother's lap, chance for immortality
Where being wanted became a thrill I never knew
The sweet piano writing down my life"
"Teach me passion, for I fear it's gone
Show me love, hold the lorn
So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me
    I'm sorry
Time will tell, this bitter farewell
I live no more to shame, nor me, nor you
And you I wish I didn't feel for you anymore"
    A lonely soul
    An ocean soul

One of Tuomas’s most personal songs, written in the Tarja era. If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, what would you have to say today? That inspired Tuomas to answer in his innocent, misunderstood boyhood persona. Love this song and performance. Maybe my favorite Emppu solo. Feels to short. Keep exploring Nightwish. I want my tears back fro this show is great too, very different from this, but also related to Tuomas as an innocent boy, longing for the innocence and emotion he once had.

Loved your reaction! One of my top 5 Nightwish songs. One of the more personal songs for Tuomas and the fans. An old song written by Tuomas when he was young. Inspired by the question what would you say if you knew you were going to die tomorrow. Tuomas has said this song was a way of thanking all those who deserve his thanks and a piss off to all those who deserve it as well. Tuomas often uses the dead boy as a symbol of the loss of childhood innocence and imagination that we experience as we grow into adulthood. When you hear dead boy or poet in his lyrics he is usually referring to himself. He also has a strong connection to the ocean and sees it as a place of peace and tranquility. A refugee from the modern world. So in this song Tuomas is saying that he no longer lives for himself or his friends but only for the music. He puts all his feelings into the music and his music is what gives his life meaning. He tries to make his life better but can never get back to the innocence of his youth. He wants to be loved but can't connect with people. He asks that they remember his music, not him, after he is gone. Thus a lonely soul, an ocean soul. Note that on the video wall behind the band the boy is holding up his arms to several swans. In Finnish mythology swans are the creatures that guide your soul to the afterlife.
Not knowing the backstory before reacting to a Nightwish song is fine except for the big one, Poet and the Pendulum. IMHO the best Nightwish song ever and incredibly personal for Tuomas. He basically lays bare his soul in the midst of his deep depression after the fans turned on him after the band fired Tarja. The song is amazing even if you don't know the backstory but if you do the song hits so much harder emotionally. I have seen a number of reactors go in blind and IMO they rarely get that emotionally reaction that so many of us feel and what makes the song so incredible. I also get a very similar emotional reaction to Dead Boy's Poem, in part because Tuomas is sharing his soul with us and Floor is the perfect vessel for making us feel those emotions.

    The stage setting (Crewish).
Marko double necked bass and guitar.
The Pastor Paws, we don't mind, there is so much take in
(we have probably heard it hundreds of times already).
Floor using so many different voices.
You matched your top with Emppus guitar!
He came in at exactly the point you predicted, playing just what is needed.
Ramp it up, Marko jamming with Troy.
Floor singing low, then gradually going up, so smoothly, warm tone.
"A lonely soul, an Ocean Soul!"
Up to 20% of the population are "Highly sensitive", mostly artists, musicians, writers, etc.
    Tuomas and Floor definitely are,
from the way the others react and produce such amazing unified sound, I guess they are too.
It might have been difficult for Tuomas as a child,
feeling things differently from others, being misunderstood,
even though happy in the family with loving parents.
He has said it is up to us to interpret how we want, and get a relevance to us.

In some documentary or book about the band there is a story about how Tuomas wrote the poem, and had a friend who knew a teen/boy who came into a studio with Tuomas and read the poem with a few final edits so it could be recorded with a boy's voice.

Marco is playing "The Beast", a Warwick Bass on top and Framus guitar underneath. Designed for Marco because he is a Warwick exclusive artist and Framus is part of the same group of companies.
He plays The Beast frequently - he played lead before he switched to bass and is an excellent player.
When Tuomas refers to Dead Boy's (as he frequently does) or Poet, he is referring to himself.
This song was essentially the epitaph he would have left at the time it was written and was his most personal song until The Poet and the Pendulum.
    Notes from Tuomas:
"Dead Boy's Poem' featured a child's voice. "I had an idea of a song with a young boy boy reciting reciting a poem", Tuomas says. "The trouble was that no Finnish so I had to find a
12-year-old could pronounce English so that it sounded right, so I had to find a native speaker to do it. My mother's Sister, actress Miitta Sorvali, knew [the English-Finnish director and writer] Neil Hardwick well, and my mum remembered that Neil had a son called Sam. I called him and asked him to do the poem, and Sam agreed right away.
It was just funny that when I talked to this 15-year-old boy he seemed like such a citizen of the worldand was actually familiar with our band too. Sam said he'd be free to record the poem anytime; I'd just have to give him a call.
He even knew where Finnvox was and promised to meet us there. The professionalism of young Sam Hardwick made a deep impression on Tuomas.
"When he arrived at the studio, had to ask him
to wait for ten minutes or so and he just pulled a book from his pocket and sat down to read".
Tuomas says, " I gave him the poem, and he read it through a few times. We did some editing and Sam just sat down on the studio floor and read his book, after which I asked him to read the poem a couple of more times."
By the way Seltic is a football club. The word you want has a hard C - Keltic.
Outfit custom designed by Royal Black Couture in Austria, who promised never to make another.
The only performance I know amongst the 30 concerts I have on video, in which Emppu doesn't smile.
The palm muting (fingers in this case) is to stop other strings resonating - he has no tone controls on this guitar, byou will have noticed, and palm-muting is just one of his tonal controls.
Floors lowest register is my absolute favourite part of her range, even though she says it is her least comfortable. That gorgeous velvet tone is stunning.

I love your reactions where you really go in blind. However, there is ONE exception when it comes to Nightwish.
Before you listen to "The Poet And The Pendulum" Live at Wembley 2015, most of us really think you need to read up about the background for that song. The song is great without knowing about it, but it's gonna make you cry knowing the background.

@@Amiekinz4ever This is one that you should definitely research a little, but here is a synopsis. It was written by Tuomas in the aftermath of the firing of their first vocalist Tarja. Tuomas was feeling very suicidal from the backlash of the fans and for having to fire one of his closest friends. He has said that writing this song was what kept him from ending it all. If you watch the song with this situation in mind then the effects can be devastating.
