Great unboxing. Played the AH version back in the day. The GMT version arrived today and it looks good.
I don't know what to make of this one versus the upcoming GMT version. This one has the advantage of actually being available.

Well I never… high solitaire, low complexity, mapboard, low token counter of an old classic. Very tempting. Production looks solid. I’m going to take a closer look at this. Another highly informative perspective. Thank you!

I may as well buy this since it's one of my favorite games. My one little complaint is the hex lines on the original was black ink. Very easy to see and read

I didnt recognize the box, but the name sounded familiar. As it happens i have the flat version of this game, which is now 30? years old. In bad condition, but still playable. Maybe i should upgrade to the new version... :)
I prolly will buy this instead of gmt version. Simplicity of original game is intact and besides i got Russia besieged which i love if i need some more added chrome and gameplay.
Can anyone give us a quick rundown of the differences between this game and the AH version?

I'm not sure I'd use the word compatible... but it's Russian Campaign. Difference is likely minor. If you wanted to mix & match components, you might run into balance issues, but I'd expect it to basically work.
maybe if the Germans are nowhere near Stalingrad near 1943 then they might have been hit by a silver hammers worth of sanity.. 💖
is this good next step from hannibal vs carthage for two beginners? would another east front game be better like vpg no retreat?
I'd say it's a good next game. But if you dig Hannibal, you may well also like No Retreat. But check out the fancy new editions of No Retreat from GMT, too!
