The Austin Seven mobilised Britain and has long been a popular and affordable entry to pre-War motoring. Whether restoring an early Chummy for weekend drives, getting more power from the engine for trials events or even displaying at motor shows, the Seven has huge appeal as a relatively cheap pre-War classic car and remains relatively easy to buy, own, restore and drive. Paul tells all you need to know, how much to pay and whether this charming example of a people’s car is for you.

I wish these were being made today but with modern mechanicals.
They would make far more sense than the bloated suvs and crossovers that blight the roads today.
They are,, they're called caterhams
Isn't that what the Dacia Sandero is?
Such cute little vehicles: almost toy like.❤
Beautiful, I would have one tomorrow
I have always admired these, but prefer something with just a little more oomph. My MG TD fits the bill. Pre war styling, but a reasonable level of power which enables 50 mph+ cruising.
Thank you for a useful video
Great vlog
Thanks so much for this brilliant review. Am thinking of trying to buy one and this video has been a great help.
Glad to have been of service!
Lovely old car 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️
Interesting to see!
Glad you think so!
One more recommendation- if you don't drive it before considering purchase it will be a bit of a shock if your idea of an old car is a morris minor. Modern cars pretty much drive themselves.....these don't. You will need small feet, and the brakes and steering are more akin to riding a horse than driving a motor car.
Hello Brum! My how you've grown! 😄
I'm happy I'm not the only one who though it's Brum 😅
Nice surprise to see my little special pop up!
It's a lovely car!
The *Car* was pretty good too
At 1:42 there appears to be a brake cable shortener device? Bad practice I am told! I’m not an MOT tester but I’d expect that to be a mark down.
Fun fact: the Austin 7 chummy is the basics of Brum.
Prize
Perfect pithy run through
Why get somone 6'8"? Why not get someone average 5'10"?
Kind of Lancaster Insurance to sponsor the Car video
Gotta suspect they know a lot more about cars than WW2 Bomber aircraft
That silhouette's more like a Sterling than a Lancaster 🙄
I believe the non-descript shape is deliberate. Fear the vengeful ghost of Roy Chadwick....or his descendant's appointed representatives..
Less expensive than my ford Model A.
