When Ford's highly regarded Granada made way for the new Scorpio, it didn't go down as well as they had hoped. The somewhat questionable American-inspired styling cloaked what was a very capable car with an unassuming, almost comical facade. These are lovely cars. I have driven my XKR to Switzerland many times in the last 10 years. The only issue is the road tax is extortionate for the XKR. Quite ridiculous. I still love the car, but now Im retired it will be on SORN for most of the year.

I have a 2CV which I restored and love it. Much of the fun is in the driving, handling, suspension, and the overall quirkiness and character. The original engine is very good but much of the time you’re compensating for its limitations. If I had an electric equivalent I can imagine both having equal appeal.

Shame you did not have a completely standard one to compare. It might have been good back in the day, but modern cars will slaughter it in terms of performance and handling. But perhaps not on involvement and feel. New ST is superb car. Good to watch though. 👍

They have UV protectors. You can soak those rubber gaskets in and it really does extend their life. You can do the same thing with your serpentine belt. It's best to soak it as an individual piece and then install it😅 Most new engines benefit greatly from an oil catch can put in line with the PVC system😅 Yes it's a little bit of extra maintenance but you can retrofit it so it has a drain valve on the bottom and you just open it during your oil change😅

I had a 30 grand hole burning in my pocket last week and nearly dropped the hammer on a GR Yaris. The only other car in the entire garage that made me look twice was the I20N and there were a lot of performance hatches there like the M135i XDrive, Golf GTI/ R and more A35s and S3’s than I could count. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the I20 and after being in one I was pleasantly suprised. They really did a good job on that car dynamically.

I've had 3 Stags during my life time, 2 manuals, 1 Auto, still got one now. Never had any over heating Issues, During research back then for BL Australia the only mods that were done back in the "70s was Raised header tank and bleed system same as Dolomite sprint, TR7. worked perfectly and not expensive, raised the water head to well over the water pump, and allowed continuous purge and much more efficient. Yes we stripped many motors down to clean properly internally (swarf and casting sand) before making available over the counter as spare parts. One thing else the head studs were changed around 1977 improved with different alloys, and was recommended to be replaced as a service bulletin, it wasn't a recall though. Radiator shrouds also.
