Another interesting thing about BoG is that it is based on two other perfumes by Lush, „Inhale” and „Exhale“, basically BoG is those two mixed together. Both are still available. But boy, it makes me cringe to see how little you know about Lush, putting them in a line with Bath and Body Works and the like is just a total misunderstanding. Their perfume line (as most of their other products) has always been very much beyond mainstream and high quality, much more than most niche brands today. You might want to take a look at „The Smell of Weather turning“ or „Tank Battle“, they are just outreagously beautiful. „Gorilla Perfumes“ is just the name for Lushs perfume range, so no colab here - if I understand it correctly, perfumes that are based on other Lush products are branded „Lush“, perfumes that stand for themselves are branded „Gorilla“. Mark Constantine, who created BoG, is actually the founder of Lush.
The perfume may smell very far from mainstream. However, Lush sells & flaunts the products they make in a very mainstream way in the US. This brand can be found in the same mainstream shopping centers you find the brands he mentioned. Sometimes perception & reality of a brand are not always as they may seem.
I absolutely adore Breath of God, to me it's equivalent to a mystical experience, I own so many niche fragrances and B of G can easily stand proud amongst the best of them. Unique and totally uplifting! :)
I love Lush fragrances. They are mostly weird and different. They aren’t for people that want an average scent, but I must be careful where I wear them. Breath of God is a favorite of mine. Lush turns over their scents fast, but Breath of God has been around a while.
Probably one of the most mystifying mysterious confusing smells i've ever smelled in my life. It has that JPG Le Male mystique to it but on steroids. It's like if Earth and all its diversity was made into fruit punch bowl and bottled by minute maid. Hence the god theme I feel. The opening is very blue and airy and minty to me but yes the base turns DARK. Bipolar scent.
Simon Constantine founder of Lush is the perfumer for "Breath of God" (2010) Simon and Mark (Son) Constantine are the perfumers for a majority of Lush fragrances. Pia Long is the perfumer for a majority of the body care, however some of her fragrances have been "elevated" to fragrance status.
Lust and Karma are two lush fragrances that I love. They are very well done for the price, I think. I have never tried Breath of God, but have always wanted to after reading Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez gave it a 5 star rating and compared it to "the best of Serge Lutens's scents". Thanks so much for the review! It was fantastic and I will now be seeking it out for sure!
do not make the mistake of getting overwhelmed by the first impression of the fragrances of this house, be it this one or others...with some of their perfumes ("Dear John") the top note wears off rather quickly and what you are left with is a soapy smell, no need to spend that amount of money for this experience...others however (e.g. now defunct "Rentless") were/are pretty good, vintage-y, but good value for money. ofc everybody has a different skin and his/her own opinion
I have an older bottle of this, tiny little black bottle with a tag. I remember when i first sprayed it it almost seemed like notes that werent meant to be mixed together but somehow created a mysterious scent that begged my nose to keep sniffing my wrist as it morphed along with the minutes. As i walked around outside i got wafts of different notes at different times, not necessarily in the normal “top then middle then base” but more like just random notes wafting up one minute after another. Sometimes super smoky, other times straight up juicy fruit/bubblegum, other times heavy incense. Definitely intriguing.
Thank you for your very excellent and funny review. Have you ever considered doing a perfume review show at Edinburgh comedy festival - where you talk about your most hated perfumes. The packaging is not what i am after in a scent. I was intoxicated when i first sampled Breath of God in a crowded lush shop I LOVE perfume but rarely like the opening note of most perfumes. For liking it twice - i bought it. I adore the opening note. Deep and exotic and beautiful and complex. My aunty Lived in the middle east. She introduced me to all the exotic oils and resins including frankinsense. She passed away last week and in my grief i had an urge to go purchase this perfume .........Tonight in a spritz I feel a deep comfort and connection to the souks in the middle east. I think it is totally deep and beautiful. When a perfume encourages me to inhale deeply and more often, I have found something good. I hope other people don't experience satan's asshole. YOU ARE FUNNY! Loving your review!
Today was my first experience with Lush perfumes... I wasn't completely impressed. They were all loud and amateurish but unique. I bought the solid version of Smuggler's Soul. It's weirdly addictive. I remember Breath of God smelling a bit like urine/fecal matter.
Doesn't sound to my tastes (not yet anyway, but I haven't been on this journey very long) but I am glad some houses are still taking risks and making weird and challenging fragrances. Maybe next time I pass a Lush I'll check this one out!
I would love to get my nose on that one. Love love love your work. I just went to San Francisco and bought cuir intense after your last video. And it’s total love dude. Andy from Berkeley ca.
Can't even tell you how many times this review made laugh out loud. 15 minutes condensed into one sentence: Eugene: "Ciao Darlings, I've been huffing satan's asshole like a hound dog."
I have the solid perfume, but I have spray version of Dirty which my wife and I also enjoy. I'm curious about a few others as well such as Cardamom Coffee (I ordered a wash card of this), All Good Things (smells good from my wife's solid perfume), and The President's Hat.
Eugenius, please share your Guerlain fragrance reviews with Maria. I want to see your opinions about all of those Guerlains, especially the non-exclusive lines men’s and woman’s fragrances. Much respect and many thanks, Frye
their stuff used to came in much uglier packaging last time checked them out, they may have changed the packaging to a minimalistic exclusif Chanel/Dior esque model, still better than what I remember
Awesome review. I love it. Finally bought it after many tries ! Always loved it. Did purchase several times but not for me. It was for a gift. But this frag is great. Mind you I have well over 200 frags. I kept coming back.
I’ve owned Breath of God for years, and still every wearing is slightly different. To me it calls to mind the hut of a hermit herbalist, in the middle of a forest clearing filled with rotting undergrowth. Other Lush perfumes worth sniffing out: Imogen Rose, Sikkim Girls and the solid perfume version of Smuggler’s Soul. I also love All Good Things, but not sure it would be up your alley.
As a 25 year old female I have never smelled something like that. Love at first sight. Its celestial. Maybe because of the name, ıts so successful. As if every smell I take much more air in me. It opens some parts on me. I like it on my (dry) skin. Some time later it become powdery. Maybe because of I am a smoker it feels like fresh air to me.
I start out hating all of their perfumes but then they grow on me. I'm wearing Smuggler's Soul and it's full on ashtray for the most part. But still pretty good, might be better for men.
Reporting back. I like it a lot. Unusual, yes, but completely wearable, and I even got a compliment! Doubt I'll wear it all the time, so 100ml will likely last me a couple years.
Hi Buddy... 👋 Well I have NEVER been anywhere Satan's anus!!! To know the smell... But you have me intrigued enough to want to give this a go, I think at lush they save money on the extravagant bottles & packaging so the price is relatively low, & I'm completely fine with that! Good to see you Eugene, take care Gerhard 👍👍
You should try tank battle , it's as unique as breath of God. I still don't like or hate breath of God. It's like dealing with a phsyco ex. Will it be a tyrannical demon or a inviting angel today 😂
I agree with you on perfume being an art. The secondary aspect of wearing perfume (longevity, sillage, others opinions, etc.,...) is B.S. This secondary aspect of wearing perfume has ruined the way that designers and other companies approach the new creations that they sell. Many Thanks, Frye
The packaging is minimalist, in line with their target to reduce waste.
Idiot people can’t do research
Breath Of God is the most amazing scent ever created. You either get it or you don't.

ScentNomad i agree

This smells like a far east temple on a rainy day!
i also hated at first...but i am craving for it very often in the heat...lush perfumes are super artisan!
Simon Constantine founder of Lush is the perfumer for "Breath of God" (2010) Simon and Mark (Son) Constantine are the perfumers for a majority of Lush fragrances. Pia Long is the perfumer for a majority of the body care, however some of her fragrances have been "elevated" to fragrance status.
its so amazing . theres no scent like it. either u will love it or hate it. it smells so indescribable
What a hilarious, yet insightful review! Loved it.

The bottle is actually very good looking plus considering now almost everyone makes the same bottle design.

I like this one, I also like karma.
Niche snob !
Very good analogy to those optical illusion drawings :)
Great review! I didn't like BOG at first either but when I smelt it again a few years later, it was incredible! One of my faves now.
Thanks for the review. Was on my want list & now will give priority to get hands on it.
I would love to get my nose on that one. Love love love your work. I just went to San Francisco and bought cuir intense after your last video. And it’s total love dude. Andy from Berkeley ca.
Saab Replay Awesome, Andy!!
Cool thanks for bringing this to my attention 🙏 never been in a lush I had no idea they had perfume.
Can't even tell you how many times this review made laugh out loud. 15 minutes condensed into one sentence: Eugene: "Ciao Darlings, I've been huffing satan's asshole like a hound dog."
Jessejrt1 Glad you enjoyed 😁
The perfumer of most Lush’s perfumes is Simon Constantine. Gorilla creates perfumes solely for Lush.
It smells so odd that I purchased the moment I sniffed it! Yes Coffee Cardamom is really good!
You try Karma? That's a good one.
Awesome!! 🎉 Never heard of it! 👌
🥳🥳🎉🎉
I have the solid perfume, but I have spray version of Dirty which my wife and I also enjoy. I'm curious about a few others as well such as Cardamom Coffee (I ordered a wash card of this), All Good Things (smells good from my wife's solid perfume), and The President's Hat.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this with us.
i smelled this yesterday and it smells like petrol/diesel + tabacco in a good way.
Dear Eugene, Great review but my favourite from lush is cardamom coffee but I need to try breath of god. Cheers
Amna Aziz I really liked Cardamom Coffee!
Awesome review. I love it. Finally bought it after many tries ! Always loved it. Did purchase several times but not for me. It was for a gift. But this frag is great. Mind you I have well over 200 frags. I kept coming back.

Also, the opening of Creed Viking is oddly similar to the opening of Breath of God.
Will try and sample these.
Creed Viking gets a lot of underserved hate, I think because it doesn’t smell like Aventus.
Smells Fishy we miss you!!!!!
Great review! I want to get my nose on their Kerbside Violet.
Eugenio does any one of the aqua allegoria line smell similar to Mugler Cologne? Something fresh out of the shower, not too flowery? Cheers.
Lol! I love how you describe perfumes
What do you think of Nassimoto? I am looking into Pardon and Duro, but nowhere in Toronto to try them
nasomatto
Alex Chu I’ve never smelled a single Nasomatto and have no idea where to sample them.
@@usmellsgood I may need to yolo and blind buy
So that’s it....The breath of God smells like halitosis. May God forgive you Eugen🙏🏻🙏🏻😂 #wackpack
Never heard of this one. Nice to find a gem in a bath bomb shop!
thanks for an accurate and comprehensive overview
What an awesome review haha and yeah I could not agree more. I love Breath of God now
Dude that rocks
Lush Breath of God sounds like a super interesting and intriguing fragrance. I will check it out. Many Thanks Eugene!!
Looking good Eugene, more than you usually do.
Now think of all the perfumes you have trashed before and now they could be a masterpiece :)
Victor Wong Hehe, I hope you’re not talking about Fracas. It’s as beautiful as a plastic covered sofa.
U Smells Good I was referring to some designer fragrances :) Oh you have reminded me to wear some Fracas today
spud0606 😶😂 it’s a tall order
I can't decide how I feel about breath of God, but I love Rentless and The President's Hat. Agree that the packaging is crap!
kateri17 Dude I thought it was the most vile thing ever for years and years, simply by not being able to perceive it properly.
I'm going to give it another go and see what my nose-brain makes of it this time. 🤔

Love this one. Thanks Eugen for posting. I still need to get a bottle tho.
Fantastic review, thank you
Everytime I smell BoG I remember my buddhist lover
I start out hating all of their perfumes but then they grow on me. I'm wearing Smuggler's Soul and it's full on ashtray for the most part. But still pretty good, might be better for men.
I rarely buy a perfume after watching a review, but had to have a bottle of this after seeing this one. Arriving today. I will report back.
Reporting back. I like it a lot. Unusual, yes, but completely wearable, and I even got a compliment!
Doubt I'll wear it all the time, so 100ml will likely last me a couple years.
Never tried these. The name of the fragrance is awesome tho
It's a lavender bomb on me, great for the money
Loops!! There was supposed to be a NEAR!! in there!! 😂😁
Controversial you said ? I must have
Ive never heard of Lush....well at least they have some interesting frags it seems.
Robert Perricone Do they not have Lush in the US?
I dont know..i have never heard of it..Maybe I havent been to a mall in a long time..not sure..Im just not aware of it.
Late to the party on this, I felt the same way. I now own a bottle too. Label crooked as well haha
Lol halitosis? Well it is Breath of God.
Hi Buddy... 👋

Gerhard Steyn I’m always glad to save money when it comes to packaging, especially with niche pricing.
Man I hate those bottles!!
You should try tank battle , it's as unique as breath of God.
I still don't like or hate breath of God. It's like dealing with a phsyco ex. Will it be a tyrannical demon or a inviting angel today 😂
Robert Quinlan Stay away from the crazies 😂

WHERE IS RUSK MAVEGUER?
I think he's Victor Wang
U Smells Good lol I haven’t seen him or his other 8 aliases in a long time. His caps lock button must have broke.
#wackpack
you should really stick to mens products.
Lush is weird
Serapio Silva layering perfumes is weirder.
Why did you spend so much time talking bad about their minimalistic packaging
FFS what does it fucking smell like ... Get on with it
watch the video dickface
Smells ok but stupid name
Terrible review and everything you mention about lush in this video is wrong and incorrect information
In what way? Lush is sold in most large mainstream malls just as the brands he mentioned. Your not original for shopping at Lush.
