    I applied one spray of Lush Lust on my wrist whilst waiting to pay for some bath stuff, and it started quite bright, but soon turned my stomach. Driving home, everytime I turned my steering wheel, this forced itself up my nostrils. If this is your fragrance, then the longevity is insane as it remained after washing my wrist three times, and on the leather trim on my coat it was noticeable for well over a week.

      I never go out my way to slam a perfume. There is companies and a perfumer at the end of this. I always try to be passive as possible but always honest and balanced.

  • @jayel1471

    Lust is massively intense and it's always been polarising- people either love it or hate it. I happen to love it- it's bold and unapologetic- whereas a lot of commercial perfumes are a bit limp and boring.
    In terms of the price- Lush always use expensive ingredients- it may not be reflected in the price because they make up for it in other products.

      exactly right, many products like lust have a lower profit margin, compared to other products that they sell less off, its just scales of economies, they make the least profit on bath bombs, but they sell so many of them that they make enough a good amount of money in the long run

    I wore this for years when I was younger. I wasn't particularly interested in fragrances at the time, but I remember it being a really sexy, dirty jasmine. I revisited Lust last year, and suddenly I despised it. It's hard to go back to something like this after wearing Lutens and Malle. They did, in fact, alter the composition last year, so I am wondering which version you are testing and whether or not that would make a difference. The current jasmine note smells very different from the older one, and its longevity is shot. Last time I tried to wear it my colleague asked me, "Why do you smell like a bath bomb?" I binned it.

    I used to hate this fragrance with a passion because of the overly dominant ylang ylang, then I got a jasmine sambac plant. The strangest thing is the sillage from Lust actually smells like the plant's blossoms and I grew to love it. It's an acquired taste for sure.

  • @Telssa1
    @Telssa1 Před 4 lety +7

    I love it, it lasts and it's so inexpensive. Beyond that, analysis cannot deter me, though Aaron's is very interesting, particularly the ingredient pricing and colour comments. Some scents are a disaster for me, but this wasn't one of them.

  • @EdwardBee
    @EdwardBee Před rokem +1

    Here is my take. Lust needs to be worn immediately after shower. Give 20-25 mins to settle down to your body fragrance and it does settle. Do not apply generous, the ancient parfums and Ouds do have strong base and notes so in a nutshell it depends how you wear it. One spray is more than sufficient..golly gosh! Lust is good! Tricky and ancient.. not for everyone

    I didn’t expect this reaction at all. My discovery of Lust happened while meeting a new person who wore it, and I loved it so much that I couldn’t helped but asked the person what was it. It is very luscious, strong, dominant jasmine. On my skin I can smell rose, jasmine and ylang ylang all at once and I think that’s a story in it - an expressive floral bomb, that is irresistible and make your head spin - either in good or bad way. I guess it’s a polarizing perfume

  • @aaronrich

    Smelt this at the Lush store in Panama. It was not my favorite. It smelt strong of Jasmine to the point that it smelt putrid to me. I like Jasmine, in small amounts it's lovely. I gave it to my dad to smell and because of the abrasive opening, he immediately pulled back lol. I ended up going with rentless which is a sweet patchouli dominant fragrance and much better imo.

    As someone who makes perfumes as a hobby, I can certainly relate to the issue of using too many naturals. It's very difficult to get the balance just right and often times, it just ends up smelling like a clumped, muddled mess. I love using naturals but I'm really trying to educate myself on the usage of aroma chemicals now as well.

    I too struggled with this one. I have mixed feelings about their fragrances as they sound great in theory, though just wear very badly (even in the air). I too get a lot of what I would describe as "bad breath" notes from this (and just jasmine in general). I purchased it anyways because I love jasmine so much, though can never bring myself to wear it because I know deep down that it's bad lol.
    ...and the color. Have never been able to get a reasonable explanation as to why it is bright red. They claim it's all natural and from the essential oils, though I don't know of any essential oils to impart that kind of color, especially diluted.

    People should really be wary of wearing this in close quarters with others because the indolic aspect of this can really smell horrible in sillage. The people around you can get a waft of shit or a rotting tooth as you walk by. A woman I work with had several patients request another nurse because she smelled so bad. She ended up getting sent home and was asked not to wear it again. (We're not actually supposed to be wearing any perfumes in the hospital anyway but occasionally people do but this was the first time anyone had such a dramatic reaction.)

Anyhoo, I love The Night but the opening is borderline vomit inducing as the oud is so pungent, its like a mix of super concentrated liquid horse poop and curdled milk/dried vomit, and that is not an exaggeration. Its one for perfumistas and hardcore fragheads only i'd say as the last time I wore it a guy walked in to a meeting room I was in and instantly said 'This room smells like poop!' and who genuinely wants people thinking their frag of choice is Eau de Horse Poop? This one smells good on me, dirty jasmine I could say, it smells so strong, so heavy at first hour, after few hours it smells sweeter, I don't get so much ylang ylang on me. But it's too heavy for almost people, it makes them have a headache ( same to me at the first time). 1 spray is enough now :)))) but it smells too dirty, "filthy" for me to wear it. I have worked for Lush, and almost the whole team hate Lust too =)))) but they said it smells good on me. In my opinion they have made Frangipani, Dirty so well. I don't know so much about the raw material but I think they have material with good quality, but the way they blend them... hmmm, ahhh, nahhhhhh 😂

    I'm glad you're covering Lush. The company has a wonderful theme and direction, but they mislead the public and make it very difficult to like them. Most people think they're 100% natural, but they're obviously not. I agree completely on Lust, tried it and gagged at the store. I liked one of their other frags but was lead to believe it was all-natural, when I distinctly recognized javanol in the product. Having tried straight javanol, and been completely unable to wash it out of the shirt it was on...(ggrrrrr)...not a fan. I literally had to throw the dang shirt out.
    I hope I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression Lush has latched onto socially conscious ideals solely as a marketing gimmick, and not because they actually care about ethics.
    Agreed on civet, it is barbaric. I would love to have a couple minutes alone with anyone who's ever extracted real civet.
    Hope all is well over there, cheers.

      Join The Progress that is a perfect comment! Couldn’t really agree more! There formulations are very harsh. They use cheap raw materials such as sls and they emulosify emulations using saponification (TEA). I’d never use there skincare. Naturals can be very toxic and cause a lot of problems where as aromachemicls can be really safe!

    • @jayel1471

      Lush have never said they're all natural. They have always said they use natural materials and safe synthetics. If people PRESUME Lush is all natural because they don't do their research, that's on them. This idea that you think they've jumped on to some bandwagon is hilarious- again do your research. They've been hippies since they started many decades ago- if anything society has finally caught up with them.
