Thank you so much for this! I honestly found it much more enlightening than anything I have heard in conference.
The last general conference I listened to, all the talks were about “Come unto Christ.”, But they never clarified what that meant and didn’t offer any additional insight.
This video will help me be a better person, so thanks again.
Keep up the good work!
I wish I could bottle up both of your laughs and save them for a rainy day because they bring me so much joy.
This is really helpful! I felt called out when they roll played and Tanner said something on why won't you talk to me or care about my life instead of those religious messages!? I heard myself all the times I've said it cuz I've felt that way
I would love more videos about this 💛
I am ex-LDS; after 40 years in the church (born into it in 1954 and left in 1992), I am now a 64-year-old woman. I am still very angry and carry a great sense of betrayal for all the thousands of hours I spent doing "temple work" for dead people and "callings" of service in various wards that totally consumed my life. I probably spent 20-25 hours a week, if not more, with these “callings” in addition to raising three children. Not to mention all the wasted "tithing" of 10% of our income for so many years. Could have paid college tuition with all that $ instead of my kids getting saddled with loans that will take many years to pay back!
I have found through the 20 plus years that members of "the church" generally won't look at or believe any literature outside of the "faith promoting literature" manufactured by the church. The BITE model (by Steven Hassan) on detecting cults is great, but my experience has been that for the most part Mormons won't even look at it. If they DO, then they make comments such as "Well, that certainly is true about some religions but certainly NOT the Mormon church."
I agree that often the most convincing information with family and friends is to point out inconsistencies in their OWN literature since everything else they consider to be apostate/anti-Mormon material. Showing them all the inconsistencies between the Book of Mormon and their own Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price and the Book of Abraham and the swindle of the Kinderhook Plates, and the fact that so-called "prophets" were taken in by that crook Mark Hoffman, works much more effectively. A quote by a past "apostle" of the Mormon church can also aptly apply to many other cults. " If we have the truth it cannot be harmed by investigation. If we have not the truth it ought to be harmed.".... J. Reuben Clark. You are providing an excellent service to people. Keep up the good work!!! FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED HERE IS AN EXPLANATION Of THE BITE MODEL. czcams.com/video/fLGGlHggSJs/video.html
This is super helpful with my husband who loves me and cares about my well being. For people who don't and aren't empathetically listening, just don't react for your own sanity.
That's Good, That's Profound, That's Worth Striving For. Thank You Tanner and Kelli
Most useful information, thankyou for posting this. It is easy to find oneself in a confrontational situation after leaving church. I had someone who I thought was a friend, say black and blue that they thought that I had moved house; in order not to speak to me much. I just avoid the subject when I meet others, from Church. Thankyou again.
Interesting point at the beginning: Man is made up of 10 times the bacterial cells than human cells... but God made man in His own image... so is God bacteria?
I wish that statistic was true. I don’t see anyone saying it so I’ll add it here. It’s a popular “fact” but no scientific research has backed it up
Love this so so much- thank you for bringing the use of mindfulness with the leaving the LDS church !!
Tanner, Kick Ass Shirt !!!
this is very helpful
Good stuff I'm taking notes...
How can anyone insult Tanner's appearance? He looks fucking CUTE
Ever since Samantha was filmed going on that atheist-induced alcohol bender, she's been missing.
where is samantha? LDS has her captive! o.o
Adan Ramirez Inter-gender relationships forged in trauma rarely last.
The Natural Man Maybe she’s just busy? 🤷🏻♀️
This is so lovely and helpful. Thank you.
Dude, that shirt looks so good on you
Samantha rejoined the LDS church
Lol can you imagine
Bahaha omg
Everyone keeps asking about Samantha,.... but where's the cat? I miss seeing kitty.
Ok, Sam Shelley is gone. I just want to know where Tanner buried the body. That's all. Just curious.
Bro I'm tripping the fuck out cuz she looks like someone I went to church with lmao
What not to do, Example: Family Supper at the Dinner Table and Dad is blessing the food. You jolt out of the chair shouting THE CHURCH ISN'T TRUE!!!!😲!!!!!!
Not a good idea, as much as I want to do exactly that.
Especially when they are acting so judgemental and self righteous, it gets so hard not to. I use the grey rock method, like for narcasists. Essentially, don't give them the reaction they are fishing for and will use against you. Just be a rock, do what a rock would do, nothing. Unless you think they are actually being open minded. For me, they aren't listening anyway, so just protect yourself.💓
Would you be able to post a few more resources on this for people who live very far away from Salt Lake? It sounds like something I need in my life and would like to develop, but unfortunately, I live too far away.
I love the yelling in the title, makes me feel attacked. 😘
Uhh hi I just wanted to put this out here I could’ve sworn I saw tanner at the Gateway this past Saturday evening where there was some food truck and beer event and literally I was so blown away like the videos don’t do quite the justice to your radiant hair and mustache and sorry I didn’t say hi but I was super high and I get socially anxious but wow it was like seeing a real live unicorn 🦄 ✨
Haha, that was him!
Donde Sam?
I am really digging your look, Tanner! Mustache it up!❤🍀🌻🌹🍄🐦🌛💞🌟😄🌲🌴💥💥💥
