Remember, there is never a fail ! You try your best, if it doesn't work, you try something else, .but never a fail 😊 I am really enjoying this transformation. It is much harder, in my opinion, to transform an existing garden, then to start with a blank slate.

I lived in northwest Ohio for 17 years. Fall, especially September, was always the most beautiful time of year. High blue sky days with low humidity really get the garden juices going. Now that we have moved back home to southeastern NC, on the coast, I have to be prepared for wild hurricane weather and hotter temperatures.
Are you going to have that birch stump removed? I had a birch tree removed from a bed and the stump ground down. I still can't plant anything there.

I've lived in Dayton most of my life and have never heard of Bob's Garden Fair. I'm glad you mentioned it. I'll plan ahead for next year.

Really productive time with your Dad. But take from experience, I think you will be happier mowing and planting other trees, if you go ahead and grind up the stumps.

I'm with you Matthew don't like really hot days ,they suck the energy right out of me ! Spring and fall make me want to get out there and accomplish things. It is going to be so much fun watching you making your new property your own !!
You’ll surely find a lot at Brown’s on Saturday. My wife and I also went to Bob’s garden fair then over to Brown’s to buy shrubs for our niece and her husband’s new home front landscape (wedding gift). They had a bunch of things already lined up and ready to auction, they grow beautiful nursery stock!

Bobs Plant Fair is always a good venue to find interesting plant material. Would not miss it!
I hope no one ever sells the farm land next to you. We found out 370 homes are going across from us. The farmer sold off to a developer. He doesn’t want to plant anymore 😢 Warren county even took the developer to court but lost.

Do you plan to take out the gravel by the sidewalk near the front door? You could extend that flowerbed with the boxwoods all the way to the sidewalk.
