He would be the only car reviewer to take a sedan in snow and sand. Keep up the good work man
@美女と怪獣 stop lmao
Cant stress enough how much I appreciate the AWD systems being put the real world driving test. Rain, snow and sand the system proved to be excellent. Would love to see it go against the Audi A6 Quattro system.
Facts
Yeah when he spun the tires traveling a distance of 3 feet it was really helpful.
Hey Ryan, I was up at the Pass while you were filming. I see my Outback in one of your scenes (16:55). I was making coffee at the lake, enjoying the scenery. You apologized for making any noise. It was fun to see a car like that Acura up there kicking around in the dirt, not the normal rigs that go up there. I bought my 2020 Outback based on some of your reviews. Thank you.
That's awesome, thanks for posting a comment! It's so unfortunate they close off that area when the snow hits. Next time we cross paths, say hi! - RD
Acura finally woke up and brought back the true luxury and technology
they got rid of the 3.5 so meh but overall a great car.Kinda pricy for what it is tho.
@@pope9349 love my 2012 3.5 but this tlx is really nice, so is the 2015 model imo. this car is about as big as mine though, I wanted a TL quality TLX with things like double wish bones that the TLX originally dropped. My car is too wide for my clumsyness and my cracks mirror blinker shows. But this looks sportier than mine in everyway especially with the v6. i'm not a fan of downsizing the engine and adding a turbo and the j35 was proven especially on Acuras without vcm
@@randomyoutubeaccount6906 I own a 2012 3.5 as well and I would never trade it for this model. The tlx with the 3.5 might be once of my next purchase but my 2012 only has 140 000km so Im not ready to trade it in anytime soon. The 3.5 is such a smooth running engine, not really a fan of a 2.0 turbo wich will lack the smoothness of the 3.5
Ummm, just a tad late. What’s the point? Haven’t u heard, we’re going electric. Lol
@@infamousnachi dont give a shit about battery operated toys. And your battery life would be affected in winter due to usage
Absolutely love the fact you take the small cars to snowy conditions! There’s a few of us who are still interested in this aspect and I think you’re the only one I’ve found that does itb

Driving Sport TV is always a better Entertainment TV in America. 🔥
When you get a car like that, rear seats space is the least important... What a beatiful and capable sedan!!!
The Type S must be a Beast!
Really? What is this an M4?
Not true for us sporty dads
@@SBM200612 I can asure you this TLX outlast and it is way more reliable than any M4
@@alexanderdagreat7092 you better get a a7 or something lol
Type S doesn’t exist.
This guy does his homework on learning about Systems in comparison to other cars, very good review!
It's taken like 5 years, but Honda/Acura has finally updated and jumped on board with the Lexus styling everybody else is using.
I have always liked the TL. That S looked great and am really excited to see everyone bringing out awd options.
Great job as usual. Keep rocking in 2021!
This is a beautful car. Understated and still a sporty look. And this is the first time I've seen a review by this channel and I will defenitely watch more. Nice pace, relaxed presentor and good camera angles!
Love that you take the car in snow and sand! great job!
I love this channel because of it snow reviews!!
your videos are great! Definitely one of the BEST channels I've seen on youtube! Congrats! Cheers from Brazil!
THANK YOU for testing the AWD system, and SHOWING the screen at the same time. Some may not care but there are people that really look at power delivery and handling. I have an Infiniti G37x and this car sending power BETTER to the wheel then my Infiniti system does.
I’m stationed in Colorado and needed awd I’ve been looking at another Acura and you helped me more in my search thank you
Amazing review man. Besides the “review” the shots in the video are 10/10. Keep on creating man!
Been watching auto CZcams videos for 10 to 15 years. How did I just discover this channel? Outstanding content.
Another great review. Keep it up... I really like your production quality, and in-depth reviews.
New favorite reviewer! I really like how you actually took it to other conditions to test out the full potential of SH-AWD, unique from other reviews I've seen on the new TLX. Type S has me excited!
agreed, very good reviewer, you can tell a lot of work goes into his reviews...
....Thank you, soo much 4 the revw! NICE-flowing revw!! njoyd itt! Thanks!
For me I think you are the best Car tested CZcams I have ever watched! No Cap
Thanks for sharing! In my area we get snow and wondered how my 2021 Acura TLX ASPEC would handle… Great video!!! I just purchased my next TLX 2023 ASPEC SHAWD this time!!!🎉
I love your reviews and real world test.
Just bought one- I LOVE IT!
I’ve seen dozens of TLX reviews and this is the best of them
The new tlx looks really awesome
Did you buy one?
this thing is gorgeous in the snow
Ya
Really good video, I like the car a lot more now. I think I will take a look at the Type S when it arrives.
I'ma gonna wait until the type S version comes out THEN get all hot and bothered!
Thanks, you helped me make my decision to get sh-awd .
Wow, much less room than the Accord. My parents just leased a 2021 Accord and the back seat legroom is incredible!
Impressive awd system! Nice review!
Great review!!!🚗.
Man, that purple color is so subdued but gorgeous! I may just get one in that color.
That car is sexy. I have a ‘19 ILX...this TLX is def. next level. 🔥
I have a 12 TL and really really want a 2016 + ILX.
oof. im so sorry
@@randomyoutubeaccount6906 Trust me. You don't want an ILX. You'll notice a HUGE drop in performance from a TL. Take it from a TL owner.
Yes you are right this car has a look that you could never get in a SUV.
@@randomyoutubeaccount6906 2020 ILX is still running on last gen Civic platform. the interior and everything on the car is basically the same from 2013-2021. I would wait.
such an insightful review! i think you described the reason why some folks think the TLX is boring: throttle response is equivalent to the Odyssey drive line. perhaps Honda can flash the transmission to make it more responsive in the Sports mode.
I'm here because I just seen this today in person and it was beautiful
Great content that’s right on point.
Very nice review. Thanks.
I just had a blast these past few weeks with all the snow we've been getting in New England thanks to my V6 sh-awd (2020)
Great review to get a feel of the car!
Need it. Sold thanks to this man
I love the style & ergonomics of the front dash layout/ design. It's more sporty than some other luxury cars. ( less boring) But still looks upscale.
Next best thing to a coupe I suppose for the lack of rear seat room. I don’t care to bring people with me in my car. I’m waiting for the TYPE S!
...single turbo V6...
Love the new look
The first reviewer that ACTUALLY tests these capabilities.
3:06 that how you know you’re getting old. When you start making noises when you get out of the car 😂
AMAZING !!!!
I like this car, great style, pretty fast, pricing is just a little bit high , interior is well appointed. Rear seating is not a strong point in this car. Very good review.
Price is definitely not high. Take it from someone looking to buy in this price range. I've found precisely one vehicle better equipped at this price point (Genesis G70) but it smokes the rest.
@15:28 shouldn’t the traction control be turned OFF instead on snow?
Ryan, Big on the outside and small on the inside. The proliferation of sedan designs that don't properly accommodate rear seat passengers seems like an excellent formula to further accelerate sedan obsolescence. I completely share your lamentation for the loss of manual options in 'sport sedans'.
You are absolutely correct. That is why people are paying this and more for comfort, especially (As you mention) in the second row.
C Class and 3 series are more cramped in the back ))
I don’t think it really matters. How often are you really having 6’ adults in the back seat? If you’re that worried about space, average Jane would go for the RDX anyway. I’d say the higher ride height, trends, and the “prestige” of owning a CUV plays way more of a factor for the downfall of sedans. If space and practicality mattered so much, the wagon and minivan segments should be the most popular vehicles by a wide margin.
@@panzer_TZ A substantial percentage of the population is over 6 feet tall so rear seat space will surely matter to them. A wagon has always been more practical than a sedan but that certainly does not mean 4 door sedans have always been as impractical as they are now.
@@rightlanehog3151 eh, it's not that substantial. About 10% in the US, for example. Regardless, I'd wager most backseats are used by children.
this guy does really good reviews....
What a beautiful interior and purposeful exterior. It’s a shame we don’t get this in UK. It’s certainly a competitor to the Peugeot 508.
Great car & good review. I still can’t forget my 2.4 TSX. A 6’ 1” tall guy wound buy these car. They go for pickup trucks & SUV’s.
I really hope Acura comes to India, such a beautiful machine and well rounded package.
I can feel the comfort just by watching this guy😂 old legend owner. These guys reallly take there time and focus on what people hate. Once they realize what we don’t need. They delete it!!! They don’t just mass produce and ignore the customer. Ok let me ask you this. Ever seen an Acura on side the road ?? Me either 😏 look at the seats man. Buy Benz if you like Bells and whistles. Buy an Acura if you ever want to drive across country realistically
Very informative car review and test drive.
I would like to see more detail for price including options.
You can see the exact sticker from our test car at www.drivingsports.com/test-vehicle-data/
Got my AWD white with technology package a month ago!! Its a lot more punchier then my 2015 v6 Tech TLX!!! I needed AWD for the NY snow. The only throw back is the back seat space!! The drive and control is smooth.
Personally I would take the TLX over the Germans for reliability, performance/cost balance and it is a good looking car with great materials. The design inside and out is very cohesive. I love the direction of Acura and as a current owner of a Honda Accord I stand by the brand. I am ready for the MDX review it will come down to cost and needs when I am ready to trade but it will either be the MDX or the TLX.
Acura has honda engines just with more HP. It would last over 250k miles with normal maintenance easily. European cars barely reach high mileage.
Eddie Rodriguez the accord sport 2.0 is faster than the tlx
@@luisvlogs5560 I do like the new Accord as well. They are all lovely cars. I did see a video from throttle house showing a drag race between the Accord 2.0T, the TLX and Hyundai Sonata N-line and your right. The Accord was quicker less weight I presume.
I just read in the TLX forum, there’s quite a number of problems in its first year production. In fact there’s quite a few CPO with low miles for sales. I’m wondering if the the first owner were trying to get rid of it while they can still do it.
Great video as always! I’d personally lean towards the bmw 3 series for its more accommodating rear seats and the history it has of being a great driver’s car.
3 series has more rear seat space? I doubt it
I hope Acura brings back the RLX with the new design language applied! Take the 2022 MDX interior and put into a sedan!
This is a really nice looking car. I'm wondering whether it is worthwhile waiting for the twin turbo V6 engine.
One of the best car reviewer on CZcams with substance. Fight me.
I fought with you with a thumbs up.
That interior is a big upgrade!!!!
Thanks for the flashback about the 2011 episode. I remember how impressed I was with the job you and your team did. To be honest I kind of miss your collegues. What other tire would be a better choice than Michelin Primacy, maybe Conti DWS?
@BrokenFiddles purchased my 05 rl with primacy when those went I got the DWS they were nosier to me than the Michelin so I tried Perelli P7 and those tire are great tires I have right now in snow and rain and very quite
Awesome!
I have a 2019 Volkswagen Arteon SE with 4MOTION AWD. I live in Oregon and we are supposed to have a La Niña winter. If we do get a snow storm, how well do you think Volkswagens 4MOTION will do?
Great review, looks like a great car for me in 5 years of depreciation.
So revolutionary, Acura innovation
Excited to see the TLX Type S
I really like all the good and all the bad info...seems very fair
Planning to get a 2021 TLX - what tires do you recommend instead of the Michelins.
I will see if the dealership can give me credit for a different brand.
Great car! Wish it was available in my market.
I'm the original owner of a 2003 TL Type S. I'm definitely going to check out the TLX Type S as a possible replacement. (My other vehicle is a 2004 4Runner Sport 4.7-liter V8, and I'm waiting for the redesign with a possible turbo V6 to replace that one.)
It is a good looking sedan. Price is not bad for the segment(Especially with awd). I'd say that this is possibly geared towards young professionals(With/without kids), hence why 4 adults would be uncomfortable here. Cannot wait for the FI V6. When it comes to the transmission/shifting, it seems like the German Trio have this dialed in(For a while now of course).
Zero to sixty? not bad for a 4 cylinder, therefore as a whole, the price is not great but not bad either. The snow/O.R. portion is why this car is a serious contender(With the only hindrance being ground clearance). Great Review as always Ryan.. Thank you!!!!
Edit:
PS: LOVED the "Nerd Alert." lol
Unrelated to this car but I always find funny when I see someone referring to certain demographics as"young professionals ". :D
@@emiramick5305 Reason being is because some people go to college/trade school to get an education early in life, whereas some other people Tend to enjoy life to the fullest, and "When" they feel mature enough to warrant a proper education (30, or even 40+), then leaving their vices and concentrate on building wealth/foundation.
I would have to disagree about the young professional part I’m in my 50’s and work in manufacturing. Own the car for over a month now acura has done a great job that’s all I can say I got the aspec version really wanted the red interior but end up getting a white with black interior since the dealer would only give me the best deal with the car on the lot.
@@tommy13965 Good for you.. Surprise, I am also in my 50s .. Do you, or can you carry four 6 ft+ adults comfortably on an hour plus road trip?
@@Kiss__Kiss no there only 5’6 and 5’ 8 I don’t plan on taking my tlx on a road trip we usually just rent a minivan for vacations.
How about the new Type S? Would you do one review for its handling in snow?
hey, nice video. what tires would you recommend for a 2015 MDX???im due for a new set
thanks
What kind of tires would you recommend for performance and noise control on this car
Where is the location of this video? Especially the mountains?
Excellent 🏁🏁🏁
You ever going to do the newly refreshed AUDI S4? I'm very interested.
Great review. Is this all wheel drive system as good as what Honda has in Ridgeline and Passport? Is it same or different?
Similar, but more RWD oriented in the Acura.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers Hey!! You sir, are everywhere lol
@@Kiss__Kiss Hello, sure, I'm a viewer 🙂
SH-Awd simply amazing in snow and ice
there is lots of hype on this car and the type R, feels like honda is a pretty solid brand to go with because so many reviewers like them. but i think im going to wait till the type R come out to see which one i would buy.
This is some in depth look, e.g the spare tire
What is the power distribution front and back during normal cruise?
Gotta say, I'm impressed with your content! Nice work. When it comes two tires, I definitely love to run dedicated winter and summer tires. However, if you were to recommend a solid high performance all season or grand touring tire. Which would you recommend? (For living in states like Utah and Colorado)
Thanks for watching. I've had good luck with the Michelin Pilot Sport AS in the past. We've been running the Vredestein Quatrac Pros on our long-term Subaru Outback XT, which have been good and are decent for snow. But size and availability of that exact tire is limited in N America.
@@drivingsports I'm watching the Genesis off-road video now. I love this car from all the videos I've seen!
As for the tires I've heard good things on the Michelins, and I've heard good things about the Quatrac Pros too. I know a lot of people run the Continental DWS's (Dry Wet Snow) performance all seasons a lot here in Utah.
The problem with performance all seasons, is they just don't have the mileage longevity of a touring tire. Plus I'm sure a touring tire is much more comfortable. Lol.
Sh-awd
One of the best awd systems out there, also awesome video man
That is matched by X-drive, quattro, and GM Twin Clutch AWD and is beat in fuel economy.
@@normt430
Oh clueless norm at it again.
Before replying and spreading more information, go do some simple research.
SH-AWD is the only one that offers side to side rear torque vectoring.
bmw and Audi only offer that on their high end M and S models which are more than twice the price.
Which cars does GM offer that have rear side to side torque vectoring.
@@Fadic4 all GM Twin Clutch AWD systems offer 100% TVD. Now their trucks offer something similar.
The GM Twin Clutch AWD can 100% to a single wheel where SH-AWD cannot get itself off the rollers.

SHAWS is a great system. I do still love the mechanical Audi quattro system more though. The TLX-S will be a great option though. I had the 07 Type S and that car was fun but could have use the SHAWD.
Please test the 2021 Lexus Is350 AWD in the snow and ice!
hmm i see hond accord lines as well. that is nice i liked it :D
its a great car. i wish it has a cng option as well or lpg or diesel or hybrid with large battery.
acura love
Seems like a great car, but like you mentioned about the interior space it seems to be lacking. I mean the thing is nearly as large externally as a 5-series, but may even have less rear room than a Civic. Just seems like odd packaging.
You summed it up perfectly, I don’t think this car is going to sell very well simply for that reason
Add to this that it is also as heavy as a BMW 540 and costs more to lease than a BMW 540. I just do not understand who is going to buy this car.
This is the best
How often does anyone ride in the back seat? Not very often in my experience.

@@cigarsgunsandgasoline8032 I have a 2019 Crosstrek so I think Subarus are the best .
So Driving Sports what is your take on this ?
I think the acura might give it a run for its money.
Should of made it a sport back to make the tweener class size make more sense... Heck, every sedan should be a sport back at this point.
And thanks for being one of the few reviewers who actually bother to learn and appreciate how the infotainment is meant to work rather than so many who complain it's "confusing" because they want it to work other than how it was designed.
Would a sport back make the back seat headroom even lower?
