      Tamara, thank you so much for sharing this. You are definitely not alone. The reason I included the Psychological fatigue is because it is so common. I wished more of my patients took their psychological health as serious as the physical. It really is so important to address this. I hope you can work with a licensed mental health professional. They have so many strategies that can help with this. But more than anything else, know that you are doing a fantastic job. Some days ya just need to curse at the world and that is ok. I know you have what it takes to keep improving!!! Hang in there!!!

    excellent tips i forgot about the midday nap during my esrly recovery. I'm at the 6 month mark post stroke and fatigue has come back after I transitioned back to work, therapy is also getting more intense and I can definitely relate to feeling fatigued after therapy. I guess its a combination of all that exertion. I've been afraid to take meds for spasticity to avoid side effects, but I might give them a try.Experiencing intense spasticity on my left leg and that takes a lot out of me too. Anyway, I'm going to start napping again. Thank you!

    I suffered from fatigue for decades. I was tested for diabetes. I saw psychologists. Nothing helped. I accidentally came across a magazine article about something called Hidden Food Allergies (Intolerances). I found out that many people have a delayed reaction to some of the food proteins in processed foods. I have an intolerance to the Corn Protein (High Fructose Corn Syrup , Corn Starch , etc.) and Dairy Products. Some people have a sensitivity to the Soy Protein. This is controversial in Mainstream Medicine because they don’t have the 50,000 layers of proof they require yet. This is something under the purview of Integrative Medicine. Many major universities have an Integrative Medicine Department (Johns Hopkins , Duke University , University of Arizona , etc.)

    The bubbles in the grief image need to all point to each other and not just in a cyclical order. Having had cancer twice and now recovering from a stroke I can tell you with some authority you may experience one or more of the symptoms simultaneously and you might cycle through different symptoms at different times of the day. Dealing with a serious diagnosis/event can be a real emotional rollercoaster and often requires professional help.

Some days I cant get out of bed, not for a lack of will, but because I physically am barely able to move or think straight. I have no energy. If on my better days I am productive or, gasp, dare to have a bit of fun, I pay dearly for it the next. This is all very recent and I'm frustrated and upset. We are dealing with corticobasal syndrome in our family and I am appalled by the inability of the neurologists we have consulted to connect the benefits of physiotherapies to the patient's well being and how that well being could enhance the patient's longevity and happiness. CBS doesn't just have to "run its course!" The course can be altered with therapies that recover some of what has been lost and delay what might come next. What is the problem here?

    • @rehabhqofficial
      @rehabhqofficial  Před 2 lety

      I agree, in an ideal world, MDs would see the value in physical therapy for degenerative and/or progressive disorders. Sometimes it just takes asking the MD for a script. But that means families need to have the insight that you have. I hope with this channel I can give families the insight you have gained so that they can go to their MD and ask for a referral. Of note, in most states you can see a PT without a referral.

    YOUR VIDEOS ARE WONDERFUL! I continue to struggle with opening my hand, finger extension. I do an aggressive amount of larger muscle therapy every day on my own. Could it be that by doing so much on my own at the gym is causing my hand/arm to be too tired? Had a stroke on 1/3/19, lost all of left side but am battling back. and can use my arm and hand for exercises like rows, pulldowns, press downs but I need to assist opening the hand to grip the bar. I also use a towel to push up a door jam since I'm still having challenges with an overhead press. Am I doing too much on my own? At home, I pick up small pebbles of dog food with each finger and drop into a cup (250-300 daily) as well as hang the hand off the table and rotate my wrist up while trying to open. What do you think?
