Say Their Names Chickasaw & Choctaw Freedmen

During Indigenous People's Week many descendants of Chickasaw and Choctaw Freedmen were asked to share images of their ancestors. An outpouring of contributions resulted. I've taken many of these images and created the video to keep their history, their heritage and their names for future generations of descendants to see and share.

The Chickasaw never agreed to make Freedmen citizens of the tribe so the Choctaw made them citizens of their tribe but then ousted them out decades later.

Which is wrong because most freedman were mixed with Choctaw & Chickasaw. As a matter of fact, many were half & the DNA testing is proving this.

@@Elias_Truth Nope, thats what Blacks want to think but DNA testing was done on Freedmen & only 6% had any N.A. The tribes made a law against any tribal members marrying freedmen, but some did have black babies but not as much as blacks think. Tribal members would have been looked down upon 4 having black babies, but it did happen sometimes.

You clearly have no knowledge of the freedmen of the Five Slave Holding Tribes. Those who did receive citizenship at the outset was based on the Treaty of 1866 following the War of the Rebellion. It had absolutely nothing to do with General Shermans Field orders to which you seem to be basing your statement? All but the formerly enslaved population of the Chickasaw Indians at one point were granted citizenship in the tribe of their birth and residence.

@@N8TVTripper the Union had nothing to do with it, as the civil war had ended a year earlier. And seeing that the Five Civilized Tribes existed OUTSIDE the United States of America, it wasn’t up to “the union” to “grant” anything. These were foreign nations that participated in the civil war, and as such being foreign nations, treaties had to be signed with THE UNITED STATES, not just a branch of its military. Congress and Pres. Johnson had the part in it, along with the chiefs of each of those tribes. You should read those treaties and not an opinion given by the tribe that is passing the narrative of being the victim while being the guilty party in the issue.

I've been noticing the name Redfield a couple times on the tube, I heard the young lady and her daughter speak on her family and mentioned that name as their family members I took interest because my ancestors have that surname from Mississippi, so I was wondering did you have any info. On the Redfield family in the Mississippi area? Other than those on the photo.
