Must admit im pretty jealous of your collection. Would love to be as sucesfull as you one day and have all your knives and stones Wish you all the best.
So happy to see you unbox a ton of beautiful Suehiro stones, one beautiful stone after another, and share your Christmas with us, showing us the joy of having everything! (I hate you.) (Joke.)
Hey ryky you are like a child in a candy store and I don't blame you xmas has come early those suehiro debados looks awesome I shall look forward with anticipation what your test results are going to be against the shapton glass stones as always keep them videos coming take care
hi! do you know what is the difference between the "new cerax" and "cerax" line? i want to buy the cerax 320 because i'm very dissapointed from the sigma power ii 400 that i bought.
Can you break down the suehiro product line? I'd like to try one of their stones, don't know whether that should be a rika, cerax, or one of these new ones.
Ryky, I am so sorry to hear that you have officially lost your mind. There is hope, however. My mind was unofficially blown in the early 70s by substances of which I cannot disclose. Nonetheless, my mind has regained its composure, and I believe this is possible too in your case. Keep up the good work. I have a Shapton Glass and Chosera, and I am planning on a Cerax purchase in the near future, albeit in different grits.
@Burrfection this was almost 2 years ago but I haven't seen any sharpening videos on any of these stones. It would be really cool if you did a video with the 320 Cerax. I've been thinking about picking up recently
How do you like the rollers? I'm always afraid of falling flat on my face. I assume that is why it is next to the wall. I've always been a fan of the smart trainers (Wahoo Kickr Snap for me and my wife). Lets me feel inclines and do ERG mode style workouts. But being in that ultra fixed position does get uncomfortable. I did a 4 hour trainer ride this spring and wow.. that hurt more than 8 hour outdoor rides! It was simulating Mt Lemmon in Tucson and I was so done fighting the resistance on my trainer by the end!
Oh yeah they are. Big one for me is I have a carbon frame and there is a huge question about warranties and carbon frames on trainers going around the Zwift community. Because I'm a big guy and I use the trainer so much I am afraid of causing damage so I don't get out of the saddle as much anymore and throw my weight around. The result is spending long periods of time sat in the saddle without changing positions or getting up to stretch. I've started making a rule to stand about 15s every 15-20 minutes. And completely getting off of the bike and walking around every hour. But doing group rides and workouts is hard because it's not like you can take a break and have everyone just wait. I've seen some that are a fork in the front and rollers in the back. That may be a cool middleground for newbies like me that are afraid of the rollers. Or maybe that new Kickr Climb that Wahoo showed off may help. Since it changes the up and down as you climb and descend. Only catch there is buying a new trainer. Cycling and Japenese knives. I need a nice cheap hobby. :p
Hy Riky ,exelent video i own king de luxe 1000,cerax and shapton 1000 and shapton is my favorite. I would like to ask you something : It is possible to rectify my Shapton 1000 with Shapton 320 or 120 if i buy one ,or I have to buy a special rectify stone like naniwa 220 or 120 ? Thanks
Hey Ryky -- love your content. You do a lot of budget chef knife reviews. Would love to see some paring knives? Something to go alongside a Kuma chef knife for bang for the buck.
Hi. Do you recommend to buy a king whetstone (the home one). I want to buy my first whetstone and I didn't want to spend more than 40$. Do you have any recommendations ? Thank you for your axon videos. Keep the good work
instead of getting the KW 65, get a good 1000 grit stone and just enjoy it while you save up another $40-60 for a good 5000-6000 polishing stone. the KIng 1k deluxe is the same as the KDS 1000 side, which is the big brother of the KW-65 here are my current top picks Top Soaking Whetstone #320 goo.gl/AGa9km #1000 amzn.to/2cwLxWB #1000 goo.gl/wZ94xk #1000 amzn.to/2d0Th9x #5000 goo.gl/LJfGHv #5000 amzn.to/2i7wJFk #1000/6000 amzn.to/2dmxDMZ Top Splash-n-go Whetstones #120 amzn.to/2gAEZIN #320 amzn.to/2gABXEA #800 amzn.to/2d4esno #3000 amzn.to/2dmCity #6000 amzn.to/2hPGsk0 #8000 amzn.to/2vUMB4C #16,000 amzn.to/2lA9bHu #30,000 amzn.to/2lA0FIi
If your looking for just one stone ~1k grit is a good balance. I have the king deluxe 1200 and it works great, its on amazon for like $20 works on every steel ive tried it on including some of those super high wear resistance steels. If your just learning dont bother with the a high grit polishing stone yet since if your knife isnt sharp of the med grit it wont get any better on the high grit. Get the 1200 and a strop to help clean up the edge after you finish.
Would love to see a review of the cerax 700 I know it's kind of the odd stone out but I love the 1000 and am looking for a stone between my 320 and 1000 ... also while the brick feature seems nice beware that soak time goes up dramatically with the big guys ! I've found it more than triples the soak time on the 2020 size takes nearly an hour for the #1000 2020 stone to stop drinking !
haha. you know what, i honestly have NO idea. for a while, all the big knife and whetstone companies were in constant email and phone communication with me, then around Jan and Feb of this year, everyone just STOPPED. no replies, nothing.
I think It would be good to do some stone comparison videos with Harry, as he can bring some dull knives and you don't need to dull the knives using the brick.
After watching one of your video about Cerax i bought 1000/6000 Cerax. To be honest those stone are good but not as good as i was thinking. Cerax is a very soft stone and make to much clay and taking long time to sharp. So what we see in video is not totally like that. I am useing Cerax almost 1 to 2 times in a week to sharping my yanagiba and i found that this stone is so soft that it became thinner very fast. ohh i forget to tell that after unbox new stone i found that my 1000 side is not totally plain and simple. There were very small holes on it. Anyway i got new stone form the shop but those new one was the same. I even send email to Cerax and send photos of my stones. They reply me and apologize me..... long story short. I am not very happy after using Cerax. But still its not a bad stone.
i bought a combo 1000/6000? i have never used their combo stones, and have never made a recommendation for the 1000/6000 combo. i have ONLY recommended the cerax 320 , 1k and rika 5k, so far on my videos.
actually i meant that, i bought myself 1000/6000 Cerax . about quality was there any difference between Cerax and Cerax combo... ? i just share my own experience about Cerax whetstone.
Highly interested in a 3 or 4K. And a 10k+. If you text any of the new suehiro stones and they do really impressive please let me know. You got me itching for a new stone now.
You might have to sell or get rid of some of the items they send you in the future because you definitely wont have enough space to store them even with shelfs.
congratulations! I'm not that good at sharpening, but I really enjoy your videos and have learned a lot from you! looking forward to hear your opinions on your new stones and knives! Question for you, I'm trying to learn how to sharpen carving tools; Japanese chisels and planers, and etc. Maybe it's a bit outside of the scope of your videos, but I'm wondering if you might be able to provide some insight on how to sharpen some of these tools, or maybe which stones to use? I've heard that woodworking tools usually require harder stones that produce less of a slurry than what is often used for knives, but I'm not really sure of where to start. Anyway, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences :)
I thought I was pretty stone rich until I watched this, makes me jealous but really, just how many stones can a guy use? I ordered the Cerax 1000 3030 but it came broken, I sent it back and they refunded me, I then ordered the 2020. Actually the I like the 2020 better anyway. I'll never wear it out.
After sharpening my knives for the last 15 years on diamond plates I had bought for sharpening my chisels and planes. and could never get my knives razor or double edged sharp. I found Ryky's channel and learned how to properly get my knives seriously razor sharp. I have been slowly over the last year upgrading to whetstones, first with the King KDS 1000/6000 combo stone, then the shosera 800 and 3000. But now I have purchased what should be my last stone with my own "white brick" Cerax 1000 in the 3030 size. I just received it today and have not yet used it (this stone should last me the rest of my life)(it's a monster). Can't wait. [edit] Now I just need some real knives. I only have what I would call restaurant quality chef prep knives.
I think I have The suehiro 700 and it cuts unbelievably quick. I found the 700 a little underwhelming. Grate feedback but a little more sticky feeling then I like. It also makes a tone of mud so almost like the cheaper king stones. So needless to say it Where's extremely quickly
It says online that the kitayama behave 8000 when you go from a 5000 stone but it behave a 12000 girt when you go from a 10000 grit stone. It is the same stone but different behavior. I want to know is it true so could you test it out.
I'm not familiar with why the true Rika is special. So maybe a little back story on that when you get around to reviewing it. I think you should challenge each of your top stones in their true grit rating in each class of stone they sent you. So say, Shapton glass 320 vs equivalent Suehiro's, Chosera 800 vs equivalent Suehiro's etc. The Cerax 1000 came in 2nd to the Chosera 800, but what about their higher quality stones?
The Suehiro- Debado and G....whatever the other one was. Maybe I should have said more expensive stones. The Debado and G are more expensive so I'm interested to see how the perform vs the Cerax and favorites like the Chosera etc.
No its not right. G and W are for the abrasive. The right answer is: G = Green Carbonrundum W = White Alundum. Green Carbonrundum is harder then White Alundum. Im very interested in a comparison video of this two stones! @Burrfection can you make a comparison video for us please ?
it IS out of the box, but you constantly have to replace the stones on the wicked edge and you have to go to their company to replace them. Just like in jet cartidges that are "microchipped". You have to buy their proprietary brand name to replace it (but you can buy from any retailer). Wicked edge is good if you need the same exact edge degree number like you're doing it as a small business for a customer. But do you want to drag out all that junk every time you need to sharpen? Just use real stones unless you've got bad hand shakes or unless you're doing dozens a week and need a NUMBER degree, to tell people.
yes, sometimes the same exact product made by a subcontractor is just rebranded by another "manufacturer". I don't know about the validity is correct but it IS great to hear there might be a choice. But just because it LOOKS the same, doesn't mean it IS the same. I have seen dozens of counterfeit shins, globals, miyabi's etc. I'll keep my eyes and ears open to this possibility. I'm always looking to save money!
😂😂🤣 Seeing all those unopened boxes and your frame of mind was hilarious 😂
...and this was way back when...
Love your passion dude! ✊
Must admit im pretty jealous of your collection.
Would love to be as sucesfull as you one day and have all your knives and stones
Wish you all the best.
you will be. just keep doing what you are doing and don't lose focus, and don't worry if your channel is growing slowly.
So happy to see you unbox a ton of beautiful Suehiro stones, one beautiful stone after another, and share your Christmas with us, showing us the joy of having everything! (I hate you.)
(Joke.)
I bought the big Cerax 3,000 stone. Love it. Thanks for the video.
Had to watch this vid again. Your a lucky man
haha. i am, indeed.
I would like to get your impression of the Suehiro Rika 6000 stone. I have been using that same stone on my chef knives for approximately 20 years.
Hey ryky you are like a child in a candy store and I don't blame you xmas has come early those suehiro debados looks awesome I shall look forward with anticipation what your test results are going to be against the shapton glass stones as always keep them videos coming take care
got to keep it real!
unbelievable video, what a pleasure has to be opening those boxes
hahah. just having some fun and keeping it real
hi! do you know what is the difference between the "new cerax" and "cerax" line?

Hi. What do you think about the little Nagura, that comes with the Cerax 1000? I got myself a Cerax 1000 and I'm not sure if the Nagura is any good.
@Burrfection this was almost 2 years ago but I haven't seen any sharpening videos on any of these stones. It would be really cool if you did a video with the 320 Cerax. I've been thinking about picking up recently
i just got it and would also like to see.
If i get the suehiro cerax 3030 1000 grit stone, will l need to soak it longer compare to the normal 1010
how do the cerax 3000 and ouka 3000 compare to the chosera 3000? particularly in terms of polish and edge sharpness.
Hello , i have a global g2 , how much degrés can i apply for sharpen this knive ? Because the Edge is not the same with other knive ? Thanks...
Anyone know the difference in finish between the W-8 and the Cerax 8000?
How do you like the rollers? I'm always afraid of falling flat on my face. I assume that is why it is next to the wall. take a little getting used to. trainers are painful to ride, and i got rid of mine.
What are the models/names of the curved stones? I can’t seem to find them online.
How much space do you need to wok?
Where do you buy the new Suehiro stones from? There some of my favorite stones never Heard of this line before
these came from Suehiro
a number of my subscribers have had a lot of luck with this seller. goo.gl/oFBvYN, probably the seller with the best selection of Suehiro,
dude, that's a freakin' full time job! great for us :)
hahah. doing my best.
Can you please make a video explaining the differences between all the different series of suehiro stones?
hahah. that's a VERY big video but i will do so eventually
Riky, it would be interesting a comparison review between Cerax 320 and the new Cerax 320 (New Cerax CR-403-G). 👍
Were are the tests of the the Debado ? Cant find them.
Hy Riky ,exelent video i own king de luxe 1000,cerax and shapton 1000 and shapton is my favorite.
I would like to ask you something : It is possible to rectify my Shapton 1000 with Shapton 320 or 120 if i buy one ,or I have to buy a special rectify stone like naniwa 220 or 120 ?

wow, I'm just drooling now
yeah..... my thoughts, exactly.....
You are one crazy guy!
i'll take that as a compliment.
Hell yeah!
its happening.
Can't wait for the whetstone comparison. Giveaway on stones soon? :)
oh yeah....
Hey Ryky -- love your content. You do a lot of budget chef knife reviews. Would love to see some paring knives? Something to go alongside a Kuma chef knife for bang for the buck.
alright. will remember to pick some up on the next purchase
Oh my god, these are a lot things! Just in case, this is a newly recorded video, right?
hahah. of course. brand new
Suehiro rika and cerax 5k and 6k (so 4 stones) would be a good place to start the video series.
+1

Hey do a video sharpening of the kitayama 8000 grit.
Why were you in the blacklist in the first place!?!?!
haha. you know what, i honestly have NO idea. for a while, all the big knife and whetstone companies were in constant email and phone communication with me, then around Jan and Feb of this year, everyone just STOPPED. no replies, nothing.
The Cerax is my favorite stone.
Does anyone know the G and W difference other than color?
I think It would be good to do some stone comparison videos with Harry, as he can bring some dull knives and you don't need to dull the knives using the brick.
not a bad suggestion.
shapton 320? vs Shapton glass 500 grit extra thick? vs Cerax 320?
Looking for good 1st stone to repalace my imanishi latte 400?
If you are familiar with any of theses stones comments are welcome?
i am familiar with all 3. Glass 320 and 500 are fantastic. a bit pricey, but they are worth the money. will give full answer in a video
Also considering the naniwa professional (chosera) 400 grit.
I appreciate your feedback!
Would really like to see how the highest end of their stones are compared to choosera/proffesional. They cost more so should be better
yup. it's going to happen and Naniwa may not like what i have to say
Burrfection hehe that i understand.
The three inch brick is just insane gonna last so you can give em to your kids
Where do you keep all your stone's?
hahah... right now? on the floor, random shelves, and on my work desk.... will have shelving built just for them soon.

i bought a combo 1000/6000? i have never used their combo stones, and have never made a recommendation for the 1000/6000 combo. i have ONLY recommended the cerax 320 , 1k and rika 5k, so far on my videos.
actually i meant that, i bought myself 1000/6000 Cerax . about quality was there any difference between Cerax and Cerax combo... ? i just share my own experience about Cerax whetstone.
@@Peter2022 late reply, same 1k, didn't buy the 6k since the combo 6k doesn't wear fast at all
Hi.i want to know whay I can't to sharp.
I have global and miyabi knives. Taidea stones 240 1000 and 2000 8000 but I can't sharp.
Sell Taidea, buy King or Cerax or shapton or Naniwa. Helped me
Highly interested in a 3 or 4K. And a 10k+. If you text any of the new suehiro stones and they do really impressive please let me know. You got me itching for a new stone now.
hahah. will post all of my findings.
You might have to sell or get rid of some of the items they send you in the future because you definitely wont have enough space to store them even with shelfs.
running out of space already
You should keep all the stones and make a fort! : )
it's a plan
Dang feel free to send some stones my way if you ever need more room
Do u have kramer's stone too? Maybe kramers stone vs shapton pro?
yup! just got them in. will be playing with them soon.
Nice
Lol... need more shelves Ryky
Coarse Stone Battle! Do it!
on the way.
Burrfection Have your ever tried the Belgian Blue Stone? For 3500 to 4k Stone I like it a lot. Cuts fast for a natural.
Wow! If you ever give up knives you could build a house with all those bricks.
LOL! building a village
congratulations! Anyway, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences :)
i'm picking up some japanese planers soon, so yes, i will cover that topic in the next month or two
I thought I was pretty stone rich until I watched this, makes me jealous but really, just how many stones can a guy use? I ordered the Cerax 1000 3030 but it came broken, I sent it back and they refunded me, I then ordered the 2020. Actually the I like the 2020 better anyway. I'll never wear it out.
As long as you are happy with what you have
After sharpening my knives for the last 15 years on diamond plates I had bought for sharpening my chisels and planes. and could never get my knives razor or double edged sharp.
I found Ryky's channel and learned how to properly get my knives seriously razor sharp.
I have been slowly over the last year upgrading to whetstones, first with the King KDS 1000/6000 combo stone, then the shosera 800 and 3000.

[edit] Now I just need some real knives. I only have what I would call restaurant quality chef prep knives.
Dabado vs Chosera (same grit equivalent to 800 / 3000)
YES!!!!
I think I have The suehiro 700 and it cuts unbelievably quick. I found the 700 a little underwhelming. Grate feedback but a little more sticky feeling then I like. It also makes a tone of mud so almost like the cheaper king stones. So needless to say it Where's extremely quickly
huh, haven't used it yet, but will soon
Lol sorry I find myself always putting CZcams comments up when I'm driving. That one made no sense
I want to see the kitayama 8000 in action!!! Please review it!!!
it's happening
people are saying it is a 8000 and a 12000 grit stone, is it true?
huh? i missed that.
It says online that the kitayama behave 8000 when you go from a 5000 stone but it behave a 12000 girt when you go from a 10000 grit stone. It is the same stone but different behavior. I want to know is it true so could you test it out.
i see.... yeah, i'll be testing the Kitayama 8K a lot, so i'll figure that out
Chosera 800 vs Comparative stone
I love to watch your videos, but I drool way to much..
There's a whetstone blacklist. Wow. Ya learn something new everyday.
hahah. welcome to my world
Ok ... take a break Ryky and discuss the bike on the wall ....
The Cerax 1000 came in 2nd to the Chosera 800, but what about their higher quality stones?
planning on it. when you say" higher quality stones," at the end of your last comment, what did you mean? which brand?
The Suehiro- Debado and G....whatever the other one was. Maybe I should have said more expensive stones. The Debado and G are more expensive so I'm interested to see how the perform vs the Cerax and favorites like the Chosera etc.
oh yeah. of course Suehiro is going to send me the entire collection of the Premium Debado stones in a month or so.
Est-ce qu’il est en céramique cerax
What do actually do with in the knife industry ? Retailer ??
me? just a knife reviewer. i'm a stay at home dad.
Don't get started on the home shopping network
3:24 its not the 2k, its the low grit 200.
yeah, i corrected when i discovered my mistake
11:30 lol, please name it "The Night King"
haha. will think about it
How much for the catfish ❤️
i caught it. it's mine
Maybe W and G indicate hardnes of the stone. G - soft or very soft, W - very hard.
No its not right. G and W are for the abrasive. The right answer is: G = Green Carbonrundum W = White Alundum. Green Carbonrundum is harder then White Alundum. Im very interested in a comparison video of this two stones! @Burrfection can you make a comparison video for us please ?
These versus chosera or shapton glass
yup. that's in the works
Hi, Cerax 5k or Rika 5k 🤔
Thank you
bur.re/rika feels better
ryky if you run out of space i dont mind taking a couple stones off your hands hehehehe how much would you sell them for?
you have to much stuff Ryky you should donate some off it to your subscribers. :)

You could build a house using those stone you know.... A brick house but using sharpening stone..... Hahahaha
cerax 320 vs shapton glass 320 vs naniwa superstone 400
sounds good.
Can't you get a Wiged Edge to and do a test? Price is about the same as 3 Stones in this class.
it IS out of the box, but you constantly have to replace the stones on the wicked edge and you have to go to their company to replace them.
Why is Dalstrong still sending you knives? Don't you have every one of their knives already? lol
they are still sending me new samples they are developing, and they are always releasing new knives.
Too much stuff? Time for a giveaway
hahah. in time
rika 6k vs king 6k!
+1
I have the Rika 5k and King 6k. Rika blows King out of the water. Wouldn't put them in the same class.
like I thought, thanks Greg :)
haha. the Rika is superior in EVERY way, but for kicks, yeah, i'll do it
Hey Rick, how about a video, whetstone vs electric sharpener
that's on the way
How about a video of taking a Ferrari to an automatic mechanical car wash, instead of a hand detailer?
cerax 3030 = gesshin 1k
have you used either one?
Burrfection both.
yes, sometimes the same exact product made by a subcontractor is just rebranded by another "manufacturer".
