  • This weekend we explored some different things to do in Oahu. We explored some off-the-beaten-path places that should be on your radar when exploring the island. We first visited the KCC Farmers Market in order to grab some premium Ka'u Coffee and a breakfast snack. Then, we went to our new favorite swimming spot on the island- China Walls! Afterwards, we road-tripped the southeastern part of Oahu and stopped at Halona Cove and Makapu'u. Instead of hiking to the lighthouse, we took a different path out to Pele's chair and Alan Davis Beach! This local beach was clear and calm! We hope this video gives you a few ideas for your next adventure on Oahu.
*China Walls can be extremely dangerous during high surf! Be careful if you do decide to venture here.

Great video, but I do have a story to tell about China Walls.
I was involved in an incident on May 18th 2022 at China Walls, where a few of my friends and I had decided to come take one last group picture before graduation practice began that afternoon. We encountered two drunk tourists (we would find this out later) standing at the edge of the cliffs when we came down. Mind you the surf that day was incredibly rough, 6-7ft, tons of rogue sets, and all around an overcast and windy day. So, one idiot decides to jump in. His girlfriend then yells at my friends and me to come help. Wave after wave, the guy finally lets go of the cliffs, exhausted. My friend grabs the life preservers from the top off the cliff while I call 911 and get Ocean Safety and HFD on the way (They came with two fire trucks, a helicopter, 2 jet ski teams and 6 swimmers). My friend jumps in the water after the guy who got swept out, but quickly gets exhausted fighting the surf. Then the girl gets swept in as well, and battered against the cliffside as she had her back to the ocean. I quickly hand the phone to my friend, strip down to boardshorts, and jump in after my friend with the spare life preserver, as my friend who jumped in went to retrieve the girl as she had not been swept out so far. They managed to get her out, but I was swept out a bit past Fingers trying to haul this 200lb+ fat drunk guy to shallow waters so I could get him propped up against a rock to breathe (mind that I am a state champion level swimmer and somewhat experienced surfer). I was tired when I finally dragged the guy up onto some rocks out of the surf zone and the break. About two minutes later, three Ocean Safety Lifeguards and Fireman came and coordinated the hand off to the jetski team circling just offshore so they could take the guy to the boat ramp about a half mile north. The poor guy had lacerations everywhere on his body, was concussed, vomiting from inhalation of seawater, and was coming in and out of consciousness by the time we handed them off to the jet skis. The girl was also in critical condition as I learned later from EMS. I walked down the rockline closest to the shore with a lifeguard up to a waiting truck so I could go get checked out by EMS by the original entrance at Hanapepe loop (My friends were waiting at the entrance as well, thinking that I had died as I got swept out of view of China Walls so they screamed in relief as I threw them a shaka driving past). We got detention for ditching school on the last day but never did I think that something as crazy as this would happen. Still graduated on that Friday to roaring applause as the Fireman came down to the ceremony and gave props to us for making that ballsy save.
Anyways, respect the ocean. As beautiful as it is, it can take your life in a split second should you underestimate it.
TLDR: My friends and I saved two drunken idiot tourists at China Walls who clearly had no idea what they were doing. Got detention for skipping last day of school but was 100% worth it as we graduated with a shoutout from HFD two days later.

I'm making my 1st trip to Oahu, 81 years to the day since the Pearl Harbor raid. Traveling to Hawaii has been on my bucket list for some time. Thank you for sharing all your experiences with Hawaii travel! It will help me make the most of my trip out there; I've added some locations to my "Must See" destinations around Oahu, based on your videos. I see that you've been to Thailand too! I'll be retiring there in 2023. Ever think of starting your own travel guide service?

Love your farmers market tour but chinawalls and halona cove shouldn’t be on your todo list. Many tourist drown or get hurt at China walls because they wanna jump in and can’t get back up. Halona cove is a high theft area and cars will get broken into. Don’t recommend any place that your calling secret or good spot to visit a to do check list for any one visiting.

No, we live here, so we use our own car. But no clue, you could check the bus schedule at www.thebus.org. I've heard the buses make many stops here on Oahu, so the bus rides can be quite long. Hope that helps :)

Ok video but you definitely shouldn’t be recommending China walls to snorkel. It’s beautiful but not an and easy or very safe spot, and dangerous when tide or waves are up, especially for people who don’t know and don’t live here.
