Used to be one of the best in the country back in the 80s and 90s but now a shadow of its former self. Bury market is far better now.

Finest town in the North West 30 years ago. Bar none. Now a pale shadow of its former self.

It's a ghost town now there are alit of derelict areas, the council are a bunch of morons that have driven the place into the ground, wasting money. At the moment they have made a right mess if the roads causing traffic jams. I have lived in the area since 1975 and it used to be a great place. I now never go into the centre unless it's to go to the train station to pick my sister up when she visits. The market used to be much bigger and the fish market used to be one of the best outside London. And that comment came from my father who was a Londoner. He used to get all his fish, welks, cockles, shrimps, muscles etc.. from the market he'd go twice a week on fish market days.

@@Renlloyd630 totally agree. I remember the paper used to have coach timetables for folk from all over to come in for shopping etc. York, Stoke, it was worth the time. I live two mile from centre now ( born and bred) and cant remember last time i went. Awful shame.

@@johnathanryan2117 I met, married my Boltonian husband and had 2 sons at Royal Bolton. We still live on the outskirts by the country park which is a beautiful place and shop in Ramsbottom. I still love the place and call it home but my sons now hate Bolton as they say the centre is awful. The eldest has moved to Lincoln and the youngest is planning to move away too. Its soooo sad once a great town, Not anymore because its north of the Watford Gap!.

Yep it's got a really sense of menace and emptyness about it now. Id say it's probably one of the worst towns in the country now. Thankfully I'm on the outskirts in a thriving H town

Its pathetic that we all know what the issue is but nobody will speak up about it. My niece won’t go anywhere near the town due to being scared of the African Immigrants. They carry knifes and harass women.

You covered most, though you could have lingered on the Sri Lankan 0:09 pots and rices, and covered the remarkable SE Asian veg aisle. Did you venture into the food court/non-food stall section? Is there a part two?

This is my local market but it is nothing to write home about. The stallholders on one of the fruit and veg stalls is quite rude and the fish stalls aren't too hygienic with uncovered fish and flies on some of the produce. The cheap biscuits/coffee stalls/tins are ok but not really worth a trip anymore sadly.
