Always! 👍🏽
That was great. Thanks. Highlight is adorable.
Such a cute puppy. I’ve been following your channel before we got out rescue puppy. She’s an AmStaffy. She’s so loving but hardheaded. She knows what’s being asked of her but if she doesn’t feel like it she won’t do it. She’s 9 months and so stubborn. We have a neighbor that loves our Olivia. So every time we take her out to go potty she definitely won’t listen when that neighbor is out there. She pulls and pulls and won’t go potty. We bring her back in the house to redirect her but as soon as we take her back out there she goes back to the same thing. Please help! Thank you 😊
Can you tell me what dog food kibble you are using? She appears to enjoy it a lot, much like a treat.
What kind of kibble are you using? My puppy looks at me like....no
We’ve had our new Goldendoodle puppy for 2 weeks and are so grateful for this channel! Thank you so much!
I can't tell you how helpful your videos have been since I got my puppy July 1st! with no other options for training ya'll have been lifesavers and helping me and my now 4 month old hound pup in Hawaii! Thank you!
Your content is AWESOME! We brought home an 8 week old Mini Aussie pup last week and have been using your CZcams resources with great success! This is the best experience with crate training and early skill development we've ever had.. the house line alone has been game changing. Big thanks from Calgary!
So glad you’re enjoying the process so much with your new puppy, Leslee! I’m glad we could help. Thanks for watching ~Ken
Leslee Russett any advice so far, I would love to get a mini Aussie or a standard when I’m ready, and would love to know something that you may have had a problem with so far. Also anything I should expect in the near future.
Thank you! This is my third day with my new puppy and he still isn’t super consistent at paying attention (which I know it’s super normal for an 11-week-old puppy), but this will help me set him on the right track
Great timing, Gabriela! Congratulations on adding a new (four-legged) member to your family! Thanks for watching ~Ken
You guys are the best training channel I have found!, I like positive discipline but a lot of positive training channels do nothing to redirect. And im not talking about punishing the dog but for example when she was getting into the bag. Just the small tug worked. It's just better in my opinion to have more than one method up your sleeve instead of tieing your hands around your back. Plus everything you guys do is amazing and makes so much sense!!! I have learned so much about timing before it's something i didnt pay attention to with previous dogs and I can see where I went wrong. Again I am so happy I found your channel! Love from the US.
Love this puppy exercise! Thanks!
Thanks so much!☀️
This works so well!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!
When Ken whispers and gets your full attention, then Kayla comes in looking adorbs in a hat and braids! Excellent all around!
Her braids did have a understated gorgeous factor going on....that hat was cute too 🙂
I've been hoping to learn to knit that type of hat
I’ve been looking at so many videos and this one really hits all the main points I have with my new puppy. I’ve had dogs before but they always end up having a mind of their own and don’t listen . This one I’m trying to do a lot more training and obedience, the correct way of dog training. I have learned so much from this video thank you!
Thanks for giving me good tips to teach a new puppy!
Thank you so much, it's really helpful
Thank you McCann 🍪 🐕 .... . greatly appreciated 💐🎂🙏🙏🙏
Absolutely love this. New pup arrives on Tuesday 🙌🥰
Congratulations on your new puppy, Sally! That’s really exciting! I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and it’s perfect timing for your new puppy. Happy Training ~Ken
Such a cute good little puppy :)
Good video. Thanks. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m glad you enjoyed it, Lisa! Thanks for watching ~Ken
I'd say it was Ken, but I found Stonnie Dennis first. You both offer great content though! Keep sharing for us novice trainers!
Super...
Love all your dog names
Great videos! Thanks so much for sharing! Just a question about the house line. How do you get your puppy to not always be playing and chewing on it? Same question for the leash for potty breaks
We're getting our Old Tyme Bulldog next month, watching all of your videos to prepare! Thank you
Congratulations on your new dog, Yazmin! We have lots of videos on the channel to help you through the training process! Happy Training ~Ken
Love your training videos. Thank you. Could you please tell me where your wall hanging is from? It’s beautiful.
I'm preparing/researching to get my first puppy, so these videos are very helpful.
With the first exercise, being guided away from the bag and then rewarded, do the puppies ever associate that for being rewarded for looking in the bag/biting shoes etc?
Thanks for the very important reminder about the proper and improper time to offer a treat to your pup! First, redirect, then ask for a good behavior then reward! Before watching this video, I would have offered the treat sort of as a "bribe" to get the pup to stop doing what he was doing as he was still doing it! I can see how confusing that could be for the pup!
Glad you found that part helpful, Caroline! That was a frequent question on some of the puppy videos on the channel. Glad we could clearly show how it works. Thanks for watching ~Ken
Lot of foods , plenty of play time and attention...like 24/7 time for your puppy..got it!
Great video! We keep thinking our 11 week
old puppy is doing great and then he has a bad day! Will go back house line and using his meals to train! There was a live video on Thursday. I had to stop watching to deal with my puppy! Are you going to post that? You were talking about puppies sliding backwards when I stopped watching! Thx so much!
Greetings from Germany, I really enjoy your videos! I bought a Border Collie puppy and I will bring it home in a couple of weeks. I have had other dogs and it was very easy to train them, but I have never had a Border Collie . I hear that they are more active and not so easy to handle, that they need constant stimulation. I wanted to ask you, how long should be my training sessions per day be, or with Border Collies should you be in a Training-mode most of the time? Thank you for your help!!
💓💓💓
I would have so loved this video 14 months ago (I still love it, but we're past the fluffy puppy stage now *g*)
I really enjoy your videos, I'm preparing to get my puppy on Tuesday! by the way Kyle looks so happy playing with the puppy, just made me smile
❤❤❤
Just in time, our puppy is coming home on wednesday.. so exciting and a bit frighting as well. We want to train him as good as possible!
Great timing, Noor! Congratulations on getting your new puppy, and Happy Training! ~Ken
I have to ask, how is it going so far? I'm getting ready for our pup in a few weeks.
Hi great video, can I ask once my puupy knows to sit, down, up and name lure, when do you know when it's time to add the sit, down and up, also name command? Ive been doing them consistently for a week and he gets what he is expected to do.
👍❤️
I’ve watched many of your videos, but haven’t seen one where you use an e-collar like the mini educator. Do you guys use e-collars in your training at all?
I love your videos! They have definitely reinforced my training along the way with my 20 week old GSD. You’ve helped me be realistic with my training and not be too hard on myself when I’ve made mistakes. Keep them coming! Can you show loose leash walking once a puppy is ready to move from inside to outside?
Hi there, Barbara! That is something we’ll be doing once the ice and snow melts! Here’s a video that may change the way you think about that process: Change The Way You Look At Loose Leash Walking Training czcams.com/video/wogAFUwmeSw/video.html
Thanks for watching ~Ken
Thanks for sharing your videos. I have a 3.5 week old Labrador (Bailey) that has learned a few commands a month ago and has suddenly forgotten them, or she selectively listens to them. "Sit" "Down" "Come" are a few of the basics. Of course with treats, she sits (etc) promptly (within a second), without treats it's 2-20 seconds before she responds. In the last 2 days (what drives me crazy) is that she ignores the command completely. As I try to retrain her - after 4-5 "sit" commands - she barks as if to say 'i get it already.' I know she knows the command -- it's the speed and attentiveness to me that concerns me. **Note, it is especially concerning because I live in a big city and I need her response to these commands so she doesn't walk in front of an oncoming car, or police/fire/ambulance. I need her to listen when other dogs are on the same block. **Note, this is New York City, there could be 2,3,4 dogs on the same block -- if I let Bailey say hello / interact with all of them - I'll never get off the block. One more note, as far as 'come' (to me) - she only responds to treats. As I train, how 'long' should I work on these things at one time before she gets bored like when I am retraining her to sit? I hope you can read this and are able to respond. I greatly appreciate your videos - they are one of the most instructive videos that not only focuses on the one behavior but also teaches us how to train our beloveds when they start to get distracted, are uninterested or become too distracted. Thomas
🤣🤣🤣 so funny the intro
What kind of dog food or treats did you use in this video? Puppy seems to chew it pretty easily and quickly to move on to next command
For the exercise at 5:40, would it be a bad idea to use this with a dog who has separation anxiety?
I need a video on how to come up with two part names!
I have all my clients do a very similar exercise before they have their first consultation. It means we already have a massive head start when we come to doing the first session and the clients have already witnessed some progress and success for themselves. I've come to realise that it's vital that my clients get some early reinforcement for working with their dog so I set them up for easy wins at the start to get them to "buy in" to the training as it gets more challenging.
I have a new 8 week old Golden Retriever puppy. How long should these training sessions last? We do it for about 5-8 minutes and then she loses interest. Is this okay?
Training for things can be boring. Try adding fun games in the mix such as touch or spin.
I’m not able to be physical or get on the floor bc of my health, but i still want to train my two dogs. Any advice?
When you have two puppies at once..... wow make videos on that!!!! Hahaha!!
We actually do talk about training a puppy with other dogs around, Natasha! Check out this video that talks about introducing your puppy to your older dogs and apply the same principles to your other puppy: How To Introduce Your Puppy To Your Other Dog(s) - czcams.com/video/B-V0CBEGp2Y/video.html

How do you do these exercises if your puppy is not motivated by food?
I’ve had a pup for a month and a half now and he doesn’t listen, won’t get up to go outside and pee… he’s just not listening. At first I thought he was too young so I gave him time now I’m sure he’s ready to be trained and I can’t seem to get him to engage. He won’t come to us or anything… just lays down. I’m strongly considering giving him up.
What are things my kids can do to get our puppy to respect them? He is doing good for my husband and I but still biting and mopping the kids especially my shorter, younger one.
I watched a ton of your videos prior to picking up our 12 week old Biewer Terrier. 2 1/2 lbs. I was ready! But she's such a picky eater, that using treats is tough. Boiled chicken, hot dogs, ho-hum to her. And if she does take a teeny weeny piece, it takes her a long time to eat it. Suggestions?
I have this same issue! Hard when the puppy is not food motivated :(
I have a situational question. When I am outside with my puppy and they have a long line on and I want them to come but they are not wanting to pay attention, is it good or bad to use a couple of tugs on the long line to get their attention so that they will listen and come?
A tug or 2 isn’t bad. The leash isn’t just there to make sure your little buddy doesn’t run off, it’s also another form of communication with your buddy. Have a good one!
can these still work with adult dogs?. I have a 4 year old male husky who knows his basic obedience but doesn't listen very well when he wants do do his own thing or during distractions, food is a big motivator for him but unsure how to faze that out as i dont feel he listens without high reward treats. I'm wondering whether i need to go back to basics with him.
Yes, these same exercises will work for an adult dog, Marsgmellows M! I also have a short playlist with some really simple exercises uses you can do with your dog that take just a few minutes: The Busy Dog Owner's Guide To Dog Training czcams.com/play/PL7BBgLulhernD5CR5u3dImaIjAgT6r1kg.html

Gosh I want a border collie so bad but without a car and in a very small apartment it’s just not fair 😩
But this puppy is so much calmer than mine 😭
I Need help lol !!! Have a 6 week old pitbull/ English sheepdog mix. Can't stop the little biting and nibbling on hands and feet, any tips?
lol my 7 week mini goldendoodle did that too! I just say "no" whenever he starts biting, then I have to like calm him down, so I just walk away, if he follows you like he does to me, then just ignore him. After a bit, you can come back to him when he is actually calmed down. I'm not a professional, this just works for me :)
@@melodyw-fq8br thank you for your tips!!
I just wrote a massive message and then deleted it! Grrrrrr. We have a chihuahua pup who is nearly 5 months old. He’s super bright, not to mention how gorgeous and chilled out he is. He’s a proper dude and is confident around other dogs, loves the attention from people including children. Everyone who meets him adores him and comments how relaxed and calm he is. I would love to see some videos about smaller breeds. It’s cold in the uk at the moment and even an xxs harness is too big for him. He’s only a baby, so will grow into them, but I want to get him used to the leash. I don’t like collars as a rule and many chihuahua owners will agree that because the breed is so small, there is always the risk of damaging their neck. Also I’m worried about him slipping the collar. Our friends lost their dog 2 weeks ago because of this and he was hit by a car. I have tried Bentley in the flat and he’s not keen.... is it just a case of practice makes habit? Xx
Hi there, Kat! Safety is really important. Having a properly fit flat buckle collar is usually the best way to be able to give your puppy the most clear information. Some puppies do take a little time to get used to wearing a collar, regardless of the type of collar. We do have a small dog playlist that you may enjoy. Happy Training ~Ken
I find several treats are too hard. What do you use for training?
Hi there, Karmin! Using a variety of treats is the best approach. Finding something that your puppy likes and works as a training treat is always important. We actually have a video for some homemade training treats that you can try. In the video we double bake the treats to prevent them from being too slimy. But you can just bake them once for softer treats. Here’s a link: The Best Homemade Dog Treats - czcams.com/video/5rVgHLnt4W0/video.html
Thanks for watching ~Ken
Cooked chicken, ham, cheese, sausage...
I don't understand what she's doing. Isn't the dog going to come back for more. Help?
Can you babysit my pup?
My puppy listens in our home, when I let her out for the toilet she won’t listen and completely ignores me. The funny thing is when we go for a short walk she listens and walks very well on leash? Anyone any thoughts?
Is it too late to teach a 5 month old border collie these things? She is still pretty distracted and her hyperactivity gets in the way of her listening.
what about teach your 2yr old dog to listen to you😭 he had no training as a pup (im his new owner) and they didn't inform us of this. he doesn't even respond to his own name
Hi there, lex :/! No need to be concerned. You can do all of the same “puppy training” activities with an older dog that’s new to you. You’ll need to make sure that you’re really consistent. But keep your expectations high, and work hard and you’ll be able to train your 2 year old dog using a lot of the same foundational exercises as you would with a puppy! Happy Training!
@@McCannDogs thank you for responding! I really appreciate it! we'll continue with the training and hopefully he catches on🤝
My puppy doesn’t care for treats and doesn’t listen to me 🤦🏻♀️
It's always very easy when i listen to u but in the reality it's very worst 😅😅
Why does my puppy keep scratching the carpet
