About This Game
Batman is a platform game developed by Sunsoft for the Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy, loosely based on the 1989 film of the same name. It contains five levels based on the movie culminating in a showdown with the Joker in the bell tower of Gotham Cathedral. It was received well despite changes from the movie it was based upon.
The game has a feature that was unusual to side-scrolling platform games at the time, largely to the NES itself. Unlike Sunsoft's Batman for the Mega Drive/Genesis, Batman has the ability to wall jump, which is reminiscent of Ryu Hayabusa's wall scaling in Ninja Gaiden. He is also able to use three projectile weapons: the batarang, dirk, and bat speargun, which are powered by pellet cartridges. The bosses in the game are Killer Moth, a device known as the Machine Intelligence System, the Electrocutioner, a machine known as the Dual-Container Alarm, Firebug, and the Joker.
The Gameboy version offers a much different experience; notably requiring more platforming and removing melee combat in favor of unique weapons.

Because my father didn't like me playing video games, I had to wake up very early in the morning on the weekends just to play this game. I couldn't play this on the weekdays because I was at school and my father was at home in the evening. My mother bought me the Nintendo and this was one of the first games she bought for me, despite knowing my father wouldn't like it. Thanks a lot Mom for everything

He sounds overbearing, my father was the same. Didn't like me playing games for whatever reason. He made me return my new Sega Saturn after having it for a day. I was glad when I lived with my mom and could play my SNES and N64 in peace

I got this for my 12 bday 1990, got to play shortstop in baseball and made game winning out at first, had pizza that night, and went to amusement park next day, stayed overnight there with my awesome family and best friend ❤️. That was 30 years ago July and my life has completely went to shit... Very sad

I passed this game when I was a kid. But it definitely is up there with Ninja gaiden in terms of difficulty.

One of the hardest NES games there was. I remember how pumped I was when I finally managed to beat it. First I was barely able to get to the 3rd main mission, then I managed to reach The Joker and shortly after I beat the whole game.
This game have some of the best NES graphics

Sunsoft excelled at pushing the graphics and sound capabilities of the NES to the limit.

I remember when my father bought my first console here in Brazil it was called Dynavision. This was my first Batman game, I loved coming on Fridays and renting the cartridge and returning it on Monday. We had a simple life and it reminds me of the good times.

42 almost 43 now, I have too say between the NES version and the Sega Genesis versions of Batman both were awesome and we have too give props too SunSoft they were on fire with the games and the music for them!
Definitely one of my top favorite NES games, but one of my favorite films. Everything about this game is A++ like the levels, level designs, the music, the cut scenes, the enemies, the intro, and of course Batman. Also I love how Neca made a figure of the in game Batman, colors and all.

By far the best Batman game out there. Great controls, nice graphics, awesome soundtrack and most importantly, very fun to play over and over. I played it so much that I started only using one Batman without dying once.
