The "Bad plays" are not egregious for the most part and are things that happen to most NHLers. Sure he could use a tune up but what I saw from the eye test and in this video does not warrant him sitting. Especially over a guy like Komarov or matt martin. I get that Komorov is good on PK and Martin does his thing but we could use a scoring boost esp on the PP.

Daniel Zylberberg specially considering not many of clips are from one game. I don't average nhl player goes mistake free in every game. Have watched and played for decades. Seen crosbys of world make least 10 or so poor plays a game.

We need a sniper for our PP, so the PP is not a valid excuse for Hosang to be in the line up.

He is in SHL with Linköping now, beched half last game when the team was up with one goal. Coach answer was "he don't play defense and not the player you want on the ice when protecting the lead". If his game isnt good enough to trust have on the ice when playing in the swedish hockey leauge at 25 years old probably wont be in the best leauge in the world...

@@spizzwolf he was fired from Örebro before coming to LHC. He only played 5 games there also benched. They motivated firing him cause he was nowhere near in shape. Not even close in the tests... LHC only took him since their leading scorer got injured for the remainer of the season & they where dead last and facing, probably still is, facing relegation series... I as a fan of the team growing up in Linköping isnt that happy with the fact they took in a known lazy guy who have an attitude problem don't seem right with win or die games coming but it is showing the desperation... Also the team is having huge economic issues and the guy came for free with others paying him salary NOT to play for them and just get rid of my understanding😬🤦‍♂️

@@JackoTV it's just really disappointing to hear this. He has bad habits but there was also some promise he showed, imo, in these last 10 games we saw him, of commitment to back checking and defensive effort. But then that slowed down a bit.
I mention it w some examples of the defense in the written post i put into the description here (www.lighthousehockey.com/2019/1/25/18163624/islanders-josh-ho-sang-video-breakdown).
It's a shame because you see he's capable of creating offensive opportunities vs NHL competition. And maybe coaches would be more willing to commit to working w him if he didn't constantly say and do shit off the ice that was unprofessional (oversleeping his first training camp, or criticizing the team to the media). He feels he has been treated unfairly, and that might partly be right, esp early on before the nhl, but he has mostly brought this on himself w his own actions.
It's really too bad. A lot of us Islanders fans were really, really hoping to see him become a good nhl player.
Now i just hope he can do enough to make a living in Europe. Accept the things out of his control and just play hockey how the coach instructs. It doesn't sound promising based on what's happened so far tho. Sad story.

@@spizzwolf I completely understand the frustration and sadly this happens with young players from time to time, often who have it a bit "too easy" early in their career and just grow a huge ego feeling so superior but then once getting up in age classes and leauges, don't realize that talent is only one thing, if you don't put in the work it won't matter... See it over and over again with highly drafted guys, even #1 picks like Yakupov with Oilers or Daigle with Ottawa in the 90s, alot of talent but no commintment to either play defence or really stay in shape, work the gym... From what i've read about Ho-Sang he dropped to late first round to islanders because of it, talent alone he would have been a top 3 pick right?
Me as a Red Wings fan my recent frustration was with Andreas Athanasiou, also dropped in his draft because of attitude problems (he had to change team in juniors because of it, got into fight with coach and teammates lol)... The guy is probably equal if not faster and more explosive then McDavid in his stride, and he have great offensive arsenal... I mean he scored 30 goals in Detroit and not even got to play in top six or got alot of PP... But the guy diddnt play defence and just refused to move his feet if he diddnt have the puck, basically just waiting around for breakaways like it was nhl21 threes mode lol... Also why Edmonton didn't even bother to retain his rights and release him for nothing as a RFA.... Maybe he is doing better in LA but it's just frustrating knowing what could have been... So many players with such high talent but due to lack of commitment to workout or play a more complete 200 feet two way hockey, they disappear... I could see Ho-Sang make a few bucks in Russia cause KHL usually want guys just because of their names... He have looked pretty awful 5 on 5 in SHL, a bit useful on the PP on the flank can see his skills but the game of hockey is so much more then that... As you say, sad story for us who love the game of hockey to see such talent spoiled away because of attitude basically.

Not a bad player, but definitely holds on to the puck too long. Needs to understand the game, when to dump and chase, and even his utilization of his teammates as well as his coverage in both the offensive and defensive zones.

Wanna point out that snow passed up ADRIAN KEMPE to take JHS. KEMPE has become a pretty good NHLer.. Also Brian Burke told snow not to draft JHS because of a number of things like showing up the opposition after goals or something.. dude had some real talent, great wheels & hands but it never meshed..

Great video, really good stuff here!
To me, the good far outweighs the bad with this guy. He’s a lot like Barzal, with his speed and puck-handling and he’s so gifted in the offensive zone. I feel like some more time with the big club would’ve been really beneficial for him and he could keep working out some of those kinks in his game, especially playing on a line with Filppula and Komarov, like he was. I don’t know if his “attitude issues” really are what’s holding him back, it’s a shame what’s happened to him, I still feel he could really be an asset

sure, lots of skill, but way to soft for the NHL game. Maybe not enough drive to tune his body in the gym for those quick feet and edges or to learn how to be 2-way effective in the top league in the World. He's fast once he gets going, but his first 2 or 3 strides look average to me. Maybe he's just the biggest ever cancer there was in a dressing room, i don't know. Seems like a nice guy. I wish him luck and would like to see him in the NHL again in the near future.

the demotion left me feeling hopeless for him, hes by FAR the most player on this team, and its not even close, sorry but the "mistakes he's making for the most part are regular mistakes, if the islanders let this player slip from there grasp i will never feel the same/support them the same any more,

  • @Number1Centre

Weird the islanders seem more obsessed with breaking this kid than making him an nhl player. There's no way he's the worst player on islanders yet can't stick ? Something smells. Kid needs to leave the awful franchise for his own good
